Ideal placement would be like this (zero locations for mist to puddle/collect into drips):





But if not like that, then as close as possible (like in the coupler connecting to the compressor housing) such that there are no likely puddle points to create a running stream of drips into the compressor. If installed in that coupler, then the only thing you have to consider is the lip of the compressor housing inside the coupler and try to place/orient the nozzle to minimize the chance of the mist hitting this circumference.

You really have to think this through else you can erode the compressor wheel significantly in a matter of 10's of pulls.

on the 335i forums ive seen meth nozzles drilled DIRECTLY into the comrpessor housing but i believe it was off of a super car or something. some crazy shit those guys do

You can also buy a circular fixture that will slip onto your compressor housing that has a place right in the middle for you to mount your nozzle. I forget who makes em though

That looks like a sweet setup for a drag car that is limited on compressor size by rule.

That would greatly help to cram more out of a limited sized compressor, but that is obviously "a bit" overkill for a DD.

Derigo, unless you have the nozzle right at the center nut, there will not be much advantage. Most companies suggest mounting perpendicular to the airflow.

pointing it at the center nut is honesty not necessary IMO. Even if you get coverage on 1/4 of the diameter of the turbo once it goes threw is going to whrill around.

I had a good long convo with the nice people at Devils Own this morning, and they made me rethink doing this. I'm going to do some more research before I invest the time and money into this project. So, my current project will wait until at least next week until I talk to some more folks in the industry.

My perspective right now is this: I don't need octane. I don't need decreased BAT's. I ONLY want this for an increase in airflow. How much airflow will we really gain from a .075 or 1.0 DO nozzle, injecting before the compressor? I've seen a little info regarding this, but nothing substantial.

I feel like I have a great situation to test this on, since my timing and boost are essentially maxed for a K04. I just need a little more solid evidence before I invest.

That defeats the purpose of what this thread is really about. There is no potential for increased airflow with the typical set up. It just allows you to run more boost or more timing. Like I said, we aren't looking for either, we're looking to make the K04 act like a slightly bigger turbo.

The effect is just like running winter vs. summer. In 20°F ambient I could easily hit 300 g/s on the K04, but in summer mid 260's is all it could do. The difference is the incoming air density.

The K04 compressor map we use states is it rated for 298K (~77°F). It can flow more than the map below that temp and less above.

What the meth will do is allow a little more in winter, but considerably more airflow in summer.

I would expect to be able to hit closer to the 300 g/s range year around with meth injection prior to the turbo.
