(Thread Starter) | ![]() ![]() ![]() A Little update... The car runs, the new pump is much louder than the old one "tick tick tick tick" Just did the new initial break in. • Let the car idle for one minute • Rev the car in neutral to 1500 RPM for one minute • Let the car idle for one minute • Rev the car in neutral to 2500 RPM for one minute • Let the car idle for one minute • Rev the car in neutral to 3500 RPM for one minute • Let the car idle for one minute You repeat these steps at two minute and three minute intervals (total of 3 cycles). The fuel pressure was at 430psi while at these rpms. Ill report more later. |

| ![]() ![]() ![]() im assuming your "shitty one" is a seized ptp pump thats why the spring looks more compressed, not shorter its not letting the piston create a complete stroke, unlike your new pump. The shakey tip i have no clue. I've havent seen a ptp pump yet. Does he press the retainer? |

Fuel Pump Break in Procedure Step one: • Let the car idle for one minute • Rev the car in neutral to 1500 RPM for one minute • Let the car idle for one minute • Rev the car in neutral to 2500 RPM for one minute • Let the car idle for one minute • Rev the car in neutral to 3500 RPM for one minute • Let the car idle for one minute You repeat these steps at two minute and three minute intervals (total of 3 cycles). Step Two: Drive car for next 100miles of just regular driving while fluctuating the rpm’s from 1000-5000, only use low boost. Step Three: Monitor Pump pressure during wide open throttle (if you have equipment to do so) if pressure drops repeat step two of brake in procedure. If you are not equipped to monitor fuel pressure then you’re going to have to watch for key signs of fuel cut. At first sign of fuel cut you’ll need to repeat step two of brake in procedure.

There must be a very reasonable explanation to this issue. I thought the new PTP pumps were supposed to be the latest and greatest compared to their previous pumps?? What could be causing these "sticking" "seizing" issues? ![]()

| ![]() ![]() ![]() just dont be surprised if your fuel pump isnt broken in @100 miles....It took mine about 200 miles actrully..its got 6000 miles on it since then and runs good. My pump looked like your new one btw...the older one doesnt look right..piston is not where it should be. As for my spring..it was on pretty firm.

C-PE uses DLC but I read somewhere that PTP stated the DLC coating wears off. So how does the pump receive lubrication when operating? I recall the PTP pump was delivered dry while the CPE pump had some sort of lubrication in the pump....or that could've been me spewing from excitement of receiving the CPE pump!

There are always going to be pump failures when you are MFG'ing down to .00005 of an inch, or when debris or end user installes get calculated into the part. This is why we have a test rig under construction, for those that can afford and pre-tested broken in pump.
Keep me posted, thanks.
