Default 16x8 FDs + 245/50/16 = rubbing?

Hey guys, I've diligently searched (yes, including the "will it fit" sticky) but I haven't found a definitive answer: will 245/50/16 tires on 16x8 FD wheels rub on a gen 1 with Stock suspension?

Figure it out yourself. That's why that stickie is free. The sites it lists help you see what will fit/rub/whatever.

So helpful. You think if I had this setup sitting around I'd be wasting my time on here? I haven't ordered the tires yet, chief. I'd like to run 245/50/16s but if it's going to take pulling the fenders or buying spacers I'll just run 225s.

Update: I ended up going 215/55/16, got a deal I couldn't pass up. After installing them I can say with pretty good certainty that 245s and maybe even some 225s would rub on the rear, even with 215s I can't fit my finger between the tire and the rear strut.

Christ...why 215? I mean, you can get 225/50/16 for pretty dirt cheap for good tires, so hope they were like ~250 for the set

My 225/50/16 555r's rub a bit if I don't keep them aired up a little high. This is on FD wheels.

Interesting. 225 sounds like it would be close to stock height.

I should clarify, it rubs against the shock not the wheel well. I'm convinced it's because these tires are really wider than the 225 they claim to be.

This I know. But I bought the tires on the wheels and got a great deal so no complaints. I can't seem to find any real specs on it either since its a discontinued size.

That's one of my biggest issues with tire manufacturers. Every measurement and rating on a tire isn't set by a standard except maybe the speed rating. Its bullshit.

I might give the Comp-2's a go then. 245 or 225...Got my hopes up for a second when the BFGoodRich Comp's were $45/ea, but they only have 2 in stock.

There is way too little information on 16s, and the good sizes tend to be in the 17" wheel range.

Yeah actually it was exactly $250 for a set. I think that tire (Nexen N3000) runs wide, because it's a pretty tight fit. I also wanted some meaty sidewall because the roads are absolute shit here in Boston.

I'm sorry, I thought forums like this existed for people to exchange information and ideas. Don't worry though, I didn't get any.
