Default 17 inch wheel problems

So i bought these new rims and tires last month and have nothing but issues. From them not being balanced to rubbing. (Big O really knows there stuff right?) Well anyways, I figured I'd goto a body shop and get a quote on getting my fenders rolled to reduce the rubbing, they said that rolling my fenders wouldn't do any good, so they sent me to Tunex to get my suspension checked. So i drive down there and they look at it and tell me its rubbing because of my tire size, and they also said my suspension is good. My current tire setup is Rims:17*7 +40 offset and 74.1mm bore. My tires are 215/50/17 (which is causing rub, with more then two people in my car). Tunex recommended I use the tire size P205/35/17. I have the stock suspension as well. So my question is, do I need to roll my fenders despite what the auto body shop said, or get new tires and if so, what is the maximum size I need for tires.

Your offset is actually more likely your issue.

I run 17x7 wheels with 215/50R17 tires all winter long with no rubbing whatsoever (even on coilovers). My offset is +44 though...

Doesn't the +44 offset make the wheels stick out wider? or is it vice versa?
