17x9 RPF01 w/ 255/40/17

RPF01s and Nitto NT05 Tires. 17x9 - 255/40/17. Went superwide this time around. No rubbing yet (cept for one after going over a few bumps in consecutively).

Got an alignment done with proper specs to what I wanted. Rear fenders rolled and a 3mm spacer up front and we are golden! The rolling is a mild roll nothing crazy.

I am on Cobb Springs w/ Koni Yellow Sports. I do have a rear camber kit (SPC) installed as well.

Toe was set to 0 for the fronts for the rear it was set to 0.6 for each wheel. Camber in the front was set to -1.7 and -1.9 and the rear was set to -1.7 (both).

Hopefully some of this info helps others. Got quite a few pics to see all the angles. Part of me wishes it was a bit lower, however the other part realises that if it is lower I would start having daily driving issues (bumps, and the crappy roads there are here). Not to mention I would scrape the front of my car at my GF's apartment parking lot...scrape to the point where I would probably lose the bottom half of my front bumper.

Me Hearts teh Grips!

Pictars!

Clean!

anavrinIV 05-16-2012 09:00 PM

looks just about perfect, only thing I would change is the lack of a rear emblem (just the mazda logo). Other than that the wheels look great on white, and the red tail lights are fantastic.

TWOptSL0W 05-16-2012 09:02 PM

i have those exact rims and tires to go on. im glad they fit so well

MS3MYK 05-16-2012 09:03 PM

Looks absolutely perfect!

Sent from my 3VO bitches.

swampthigger 05-16-2012 09:10 PM

There is a set of these rims brand new in silver on Craigslist here in Orlando for $1000

dastpe 05-16-2012 09:13 PM

offset? the only issue you are going to have is when you have any people in the back or a lot of stuff in the trunk or hit a bump in the middle of a fast turn.

if you are having trouble, take a look at the rear bumper tab if youre getting the spaghetti pieces off of the rear tires.

Roddiy 05-16-2012 09:22 PM

Hey man,

There's a white MS3 sitting on your tires! Just thought you should know...

haha, jokes aside, how much difference have you felt in straight line grip?

Mizzle 05-16-2012 09:27 PM

What made you go with zero toe up front?

Nliiitend1 05-16-2012 09:45 PM

It'd likely handle even better with a little less rear camber, but then of course you'd be more likely to rub...

duappleganger 05-16-2012 09:52 PM

Could you post some impressions? Those wheels actually look real good on your setup. I'm jealous because I know it would look like shit on teh pu.

Do you have camber plates up front to get that much camber?

I stand corrected, any shots directly from the side? is he also running 17x9?

bnoon 05-17-2012 08:37 AM

@starscream, what did you use for your center caps? Looks smooth... I haven't made any for mine yet and yours look good.

Wheels are 17x9 +48 (pf01ss), tires are 255/40/17.. (+5mm spacers up front to clear coilovers). CS Camber plates + JBR RCA in the back.

Other than those not being the same wheels, LOL. Those are PF01's not OP's RPF1's.

I believe they are +45 offset. Yeah I tried with a bit of loading the rear no problems. I might need to do some more adjusting once I have it fully loaded. I rarely do fully load it but still, better be prepared for when I do. I just realllllyyyy wanted to get on my summers.

HUGE! It feels like I lost 2-300 lbs of weight in the car. Like it definately feels more nimble and better (faster too even).

Well the place that I got an alignment done, the owner/mechanic races a 350z on the track frequently (has won some stuff too) and I asked his opinion for most grip but a good compromise for wear/longevity/performance. He recommended 0. So I said go for it. I am a suspension noob (kinda...) so time will tell if it was the correct choice or not.

FUCKEN awesome! LOL It rides better, feels more nimble, looks awesome, and feels faster. I mean no more wheel spin (or rather not as much..very rarely) and she just goes. I love that I can now take a onramp faster or turn without worrying about the car understeering. However I do also have a RMM and a TMM so I assume that helps as well as my suspension setup. I have a PMM going in too soon.

No sir! Do not have camber plates upfront. From what I have been told that much camber up front isnt alot by anymeans. and is within the stock adjustments. Not sure what youre referring too. I can get more info if you need from the alignment place.

I have a side shot of my car above? Unless your referring the the hijacker? ;) LOL

@bnoon, I actually used Honda Civic/Accord caps that had the "H" symbol painted on them (not the stickered ones). Then had them color matched to the rim. Honestly its the best cap I have seen for the RPF01s yet. The only other cap I would have considered is the 19" RPF01's come with a different type of centre cap (but not gold) those are nice, however super pricey. I might add a vinyl with the "mazdaspeed" MS logo or a Mazda Badge on the centre caps to kinda add some color and to finish it off but unsure about it.

Thanks to everyone else for all the comments.

NO! You jacked my thread...its only fair now that you jack me off ;)

LOL jokes. yeah man was just saying it good fun..i shoulda put the "Why Yo No" Meme in there too for goodmeasure...but alas, I didnt.

Mizzle 05-17-2012 11:18 PM

0 toe will turn in better, but it'll walk around on highway ridges a little more than a little toe-in.

AZSPEED3 05-18-2012 12:04 AM

Looks great with the new wheels. Very clean. What did you use for the red tail lights?

Palms 05-18-2012 12:11 AM

car looks awesome! thats the setup i wanted, but didnt wanna penny up for the rims. go the nt05's youll love them. red tails look really good too. also wondering how you did it.

crtguns 05-18-2012 12:52 AM

I put 17x8 PF01s on my speed and NEEDED bumpstops, even after having fenders rolled. Had to screw some 1.75" tall blocks of plastic to the bump tabs. Leaves only about 3/4 inch travel to rear wheels. It's actually the slow gradual bumps on the freeway that will get you and make tire spagetti. Makes a shitty noise too.

make bumpstops.

You'll notice a little faster launch too- by limiting rear squat.

I got 17"s in order to have a softer tire, for a better ride. 8" for better traction. Then, to accomodate them I had to get race coils and bumpstops... resulting in a shitty ride and fishy straightline handling. Go figure.

Mizzle 05-18-2012 07:45 AM

Don't listen to anything this faggot says.
@crtguns - kill yourself.

ant_wailes 05-19-2012 10:47 AM

I see you did a DIY center cap route. Care to explain which one you went with? ebay universal caps with spray paint? Your setup is nice! My next tires will be the NT05 for sure. Currently I'm on rs-3 and love'em! The 255 is calling my name though!

ckMS3 05-19-2012 10:49 AM

Used VHT Niteshades (RED, yes they come in RED too! :D) and did 3 coats of RED then 3 Coats of Clear. It was a bit labourous to make sure it came out nice, but I am VERY happy with the results. I taped off the reverse light so when I reverse people dont mistake it for a brake like (with the red tint). When I clearcoated I did the entire light including the reverse light so its all smooth and even.

@crtguns So need to make my own bumpstops? Care to elaborate more? What material did you use, where did you place them (on the shock itself like the stock, or somewhere else). Kinda confused.

Yeah went with the Civic/Accord centre caps, then had them painted/colormatched to the rim. Looks WAYYY better. I have a vinyl I might put on the centre caps that add a bit more "mazda" to it so it feels like a true centre cap. I feel like its missing a logo/symbol.

WTF do bump stops have to do with new tires? If you're riding on your bump stops, you shouldn't have cut your springs like a dipshit 90's Honda douche.

I have no clue what you're talking about. If you've got weird straight line handling, get your alignment checked. Also, depending on what your wheel offset is, it will slightly numb the on-center steering feel.

PLEASE, LIKE @Mizzle SAID, NOBODY SHOULD TAKE ANYTHING THIS DIPSHIT HAS TO SAY AS ADVICE

Manny 05-23-2012 06:07 PM

center caps look wack on rpf01's. rattle can the hubs black if you are worried about the rusted over look. Other than that...looks good.

breakfasteatre 05-23-2012 06:20 PM

@starscream I have yet to meet you. Any plans on coming out to any meets? Dyno day on sunday? Sigma? Autocross?

manila 05-23-2012 06:21 PM

@starscream Ride looks good mann. The white/gold combo fits perfect

Scoobs 05-23-2012 06:30 PM

Love it! Thanks for the info:fest30:

Can you take a picture of the center caps, look pretty good! What year of civic did you get them from?

Mazdazilla6 05-29-2012 10:49 AM

Looks clean and I like the center caps but you should do what you said and throw some Mazda emblems on em.

NoRegrets 05-29-2012 06:05 PM

I'll try to get the Part Number for the caps. I believe it was like a 2000-2008 civic/accord.

Best thread @starscream ! Other than Jason GTX2867r BT thread:wave:
Ok, I'm buying RPF1 17x9 + p255/40 Hankooks for spring 2013, go big or go home!

Doberman 08-01-2012 04:10 PM

Looks awesome. I dig the gold. Where did you order them from? I called tire rack and they told me gold is only available in Subaru bolt patterns. I'd love to get a set but I'm partial to 18's. Plus I want to lower my car substantially so I'm not sure if I'll go the same width.

apawk 04-29-2013 08:21 PM

Old thread is old... BUT ....

I ordered some 17x9 et42s and was really worried about fitment of a 255/40 on them but this thread made me feel a lot better about my decision. Looks good man! Wheels will be here Wednesday and now I cant wait!!
