Default 18 x 8.5 + 30 offset.

I just purchased a set of XXR 522's that are 18 x 8.5 + 30 offset, tires size is 225/40/18 I'm looking to install them with BC Coilovers. I understand for Gen 1 it will work if I get my fenders rolled in which I plan on doing. Should I be aware of anything else that I may need to do for these wheels to not cause me problems in the future if anyone can help answer my questions it would be greatly appreciated.

Best bet would be to search threads through the wheels section and look at other peoples threads with same size wheels. You can also look at most peoples sig's that may have your setup. Its what I did to figure out my setup.

That is a pretty aggressive fitment.

There are a a couple of extra factors such as your desired ride height and the camber settings once you get an alignment. I suspect you'll experience scrubbing everywhere, though the rear fender is going to be the worst culprit.

I've been looking and haven't had much luck very few people running this offset and size.

Looking to cover the wheels gap if I can. I want a clean look not a crazy aggressive one. I also dont want to put camber plates in if possible. But if I roll the fenders do you think I should be good to go?

If you don't have adjustable rear camber arms, you will need them. Since you are sticking with the 225s, that buys a lot of room vs. 235s or 245s.

+30 is pretty damn aggressive. However, fully rolled rear fenders and -1.5 to -2.0 of rear camber should fit that setup. Fronts should be ok. You will definitely get some poke with that setup which is meh and you aren't going bigger tire, so no performance benefit. Your rims will be very vulnerable to curbs/potholes/etc., but I am guessing you already know that.

Because stance yo.

Sell them and get something that fits. Sure, you can MAKE these fit, but really, do you want to?

IMO, you are going to have to pull the fenders big time on the gen1 or run some camber that is definitely form > function.

I have 18x8.5 +38's on my gen2 and the fenders are rolled flat. The gen2 is said to have a lot more room than a gen1 and a 30 offset is going to need a decent pull and major trimming of the wheel well linings etc.

I got a great deal on them and couldn't pass them up but if I have to buy camber plates. Its not so much stance, it's because I have a MZ3 and not a speed unfortunately. Do you think I could run them without plates and won't into problems if I don't go as low as intended?

Thank you everybody for the advice and help!

You would be better off on a different forum for that info. I don't mean anything by that, but I don't know of too many gen1 guys who are running very aggressive fitments.

You could get a lot more feedback and tips from another Mazda 3 forum.

I running 17x8 with 32 offset with 235s on a gen1 and at stock height I needed a roll and a touch of camber to clear. And it sits perfectly flush with the fender. I wouldnt go wider or more aggressive IMO

Stretched 225s are a lot more forgiving than 235s for fitment. Seems to be what a lot of the herrafrush guys do. When there is no sidewall because the sidewall is like at a 45 degree angle due to stretch, more shit will fit. Appropriate tires with a more straight up/down sidewall are a lot less forgiving for aggressive fitment wheels.

Though I ask myself, MZ3, so why am I doing this? OP, you are on the wrong forum for aggressive fitment.

Roll and pull at minimum, camber would help a lot. the 225s puts your tire edge better than mine when I had 245s on +38s but I still needed a roll and pull to clear. On stock springs rubbing was inevitable, and constant over any kind of bump or dip. Stock camber arms.

Good luck.

18x9 +30 with a fat 235 but that aint fitting on no gen 1. Atleast not for a daily. MAYBE with some stretched ass tires but meh.

Your set up like Rob said Will need a major roll and pull. And dont be expecting to be hellaflush either unless you plan on cambering the fuck out of the rear. The front you shouldnt have an issue

Is the NA Mazda 3 the same as the MS3 when it comes to wheel fitment?

Like everyone else has said a roll is deffenetly needed. You might need to shave the rear bumper depending on how low your really wanting to go.

Yes, you could have passed them up. It's actually real easy:

Them: "Hey man, I got these mad tight knock-off JDM ballerness rims, yo. You should totally rock this shit on your whip."

You: "No."

I would never decide on a wheel set up (especially one that doesn't fit well without a lot of work and no performance gain) just because it was a "great deal." Just my opinion. But, it does sound like you did it without much research, which also makes the decision a little silly.

EDIT: Nevermind, I missed the MZ3 part...I guess sillyness is all you can do since there's no performance there anyway. In that case: go for it, make it look good, and post up the end result!

IIRC when I still had my NA 3 from reading around the rears are the same but the MS3 fronts are roomier. If that's the case he will have problems with the fronts too.

Ya, 18x10s with +20 should work. If you stretch 185/40R18s and sawzall your fenders those will fit. In for pics.

nah he'll be fine, I'm running 20x11 with +10, I just bought tires made out of sandpaper so it'll eventually custom form the fenders

From what I remember reading the mazdaspeed3 have wider fenders in the front compared to the regular 3. The rears I'm not sure of.
