225/40/18 better grip than stock 215's? Looking at replacing tires and leaning toward 225/40/18 on my 07 speed 3. Will there be a noticeable difference with the extra width in traction compared to the stock 215's? Or is everyone mainly doing it for looks? |
If you are after more traction, then get a more aggressive tire. Just going up one size is not going to give you what you are looking for if you want more grip. |
255 or go home |
.....Seriously, 205 is wider |
205 isn't wider? I am looking at the michelin pilot super sports, pricey though. Or the nitto nt05's |

Kumho—Ecsta XS OR Dunlop—Direzza ZII Also just to make sure we have an understanding...You DO NOT want to run any wider than 225 on your stock wheels. |
235 or go home, yes you'll get more traction. You'll have a wider contact patch with the road which provides more traction. (On a dry road) Lol at fail wheel drive |
Ok, I'll check those out. My wheels are not stock, there the mazdaspeed ray's 7.5 wide |

Ok, I have the car lowered with Cobb springs, hopefully it won't rub |

And I know that this is probably going to start a huge debate, but having a wider tire (all other things being equal) does not mean you will grip better. Its just not that simple. |

205 is smaller than 215 or 225. Thar number is the width in milimeter Tire Size, Conversion, Explained, Chart, Guide |

The answer is probably yes, but your question is to vague to say for sure. You need to know the specs on the wheel. |

You will not see/feel any measurable difference going from 235 to 245. Maybe there is a reason that you go no results. |
I run 235's on 7.5s because I like to be dangerous. OP, many rave about the nt05's and they're what I would be running if I didn't get a good deal on my BFG G-force Sports |
I wouldnt go over a 225 on a 7.5" rim personally. Jut for though. NT-05 seem to be well revied bang for your buck tire. You can pick them up through walmart super cheap and no shipping. I am getting a set of 235/40/18 for 650 all said and done. |

indeed you did...and thanks for your advice. I was trying to solicit people who have actually tried the setup. I had a killer deal on a set of barely used 245s and that's why I was asking. Quote:

I just got 235/40/18 Eagle F1's on my 7.5 inch rim offset 50 and I need to roll the fenders a little more cuz they rub just a tiny bit. I have a 6 btw on h&r springs. But the tires fit the rim better than a 225 imo. Sent from my Incredible 2 using Tapatalk 2 |

As far as the numbers go idk. Not sure why you are so set on running a 245. But whatever. |

yep did that - still Google lists results from many other domains, and doesn't give results I know are actually there (that I found manually). I'm no genius but I program computers for a living and it sure seems wacked out to me. No big deal...I appreciate your help - thanks anyway... |

I have never once had a problem finding what I needed with it. So you are obviously doing it wrong. The simple fact that you stated it was pulling results from sites other than mazdaspeedforums.org tells us you did it wrong. Now go be butt hurt somewhere else. its not my fault you cant read. head on over to m247 they like to spoon feed people |

fwiw, the search does suck, it has no reason to considering the amount of money this site pulls in IMO. |

The forum search WILL throw back any three letter search string you enter. RX8, ATP, MS3, KMD, go ahead and try all of them. Let me know how many return results. This thread is fucking retarded. |
