What is ur off set? I run 8.5 OZs 45 offset and rub in the back. No lowering

Edit: run in the back on the outside..fuck, fender roll here I come!

235/40/18 T1Rs + 18x8@50mm was ok with stock shocks + cobb springs or BC coils. unfortunately, as soon as i added the camber links to dial in the negative camber in the rear, it started rubbing. basically, unless you mess with rear camber, 235s will be fine with a reasonable offset.

roll the rear fenders

So basically running RX8 rims (18x8) w/ a 235/40/18 will work. Hrm I konw that the offset is 50 already, I was thinking to throw on a 10-15mm spacer on it to get a flush look. I think I shouldnt have problem even with a full load AND camber correction because of the extra spacing...right? Or am I doing it wrong? lol

lol...adding the spacers actually pushes you in the exact opposite direction that you want to be going. rx8 + 10mm spacers = rubbing for sure. when you rub, it's on the side of the tire facing the outside fender, so if you go pushing it out to be more flush, you're just ramming it into the fender.

Damnit! It worked well in my head... LOL

I run 18x8.5" +45mm 235/40/18 Nitto NT555...didn't start to rub in the beginning but as I worn down my shocks over last season, it started to rub more and more and I will be getting my fenders rolled regardless of which suspension I end up with...

Yeah, the more I think about it, fender rolling is a must. Looks like I see fender rolling in my foreseeable future. Your running cobb stg 2 right?

any pics of your car headon (to see how close you are with flushness) just wanna get a gauge of how close you are with that tiresize and offset

Wheel offset refers to the distance between the centerline of the wheel and the vertical plane of the wheel's hub-mounting surface (with positive values denoting a hub-mounting surface that is closer to the outside edge of the wheel, and negative values denoting a hub-mounting surface that is closer to the inside edge of the wheel).

Backspacing is the distance between the vertical plane of the wheel's hub-mounting surface and the inside edge of the wheel.

What you seem to be describing above is neither. You basically described "wheel width/2." ;)

Fobio 03-03-2010 12:31 PM

^^sorry....you are correct...I got my measurements mixed up...

kotez 03-03-2010 04:10 PM

What kind of clearance did you have on the inside with the 18x8.5 +45 and 235s?

a little more than the width of 1 finger.

CDSPEED3 03-03-2010 07:40 PM

offset is 48

Dano 03-04-2010 10:20 AM

I guess with a 48 offset you are 3mm better off than I. In my case that would prob be enough to clear but other guys don't have any trouble at all running 235s so IDK.

I'm trying to find a good roller around here but haven't found one that bolts up to the hub yet and I don't trust myself with the other kind.

CDSPEED3 03-04-2010 05:40 PM

i ordered the wheels i should have them in a week from monday so we will see i will post pics and comments as soon as i get them mounted
