40th Anneversary RX8 Wheels 1 Attachment(s) Hey guys, New to the MS6 world, but not Mazda. Decided the best way to start personalizing my new daily driver was to get some better meats on the car and update the look. I see many of you have used RX8 wheels to great success to get a wider tire on the stock suspension with no rubbing, and even on a lowered car with a bit of fender rolling so I decided to look that direction. Not a big fan of the standard RX8 wheel, but I have seen the 40th anneversary edition rims and love that look, and quite frankly think they would make a great addition to my currently and not for long Stock MS6. Take a look below. I think these will update the look of my Onyx Black MS6 nicely. Now the question... for those of you running the 18x8 +50 RX8 rims, what tire size provides the best protection and no rubbing? I would love to run 240/40/18 all the way around but I see alot of guys going the 235 route. Thanks for the help FDGuy |
Personally, I think those wheels are hideous lol. you may ask why I said lol, well because I have something similar to those. I have the 10-11 ms3 wheels they are 18X7.5 +52? +53? w.e. but the difference between the two to me is def noticeable to a degree of like or dislike. I am pretty sure you are best off with 235-40-18 ;) |
:D different strokes for different folks. The rims are coming with 240/40 and 235/40. I figured the 235 will provide better fitment and less rubbing but I will let these tires run their course and then replace with whichever size works best... By that time the car will be lowered too, so I will have more homework to do. |
245/40 with a roll looks the best IMO. |
post pics with them on your car first so we can see what it looks like. I was looking for a set of these for ages when I had my 07 MZ3. |
will do. It will be a week before they arrive |
If it were me I'd stick with 235/40. Diameter is nearly identical to OEM and will be less headache to fit. Certain coilover setups can cause rubbing against the locking ring, depending on tire size and drop. |
Sen em on a gen ms3, looked great. |
OK. so the 40th anniversary rims are on. I think they look perfect fo the car. I know it needs "moar lower" but that will come in time. The RX8 Wheels are the typical 18x8 +50 and they have PS2s on the front and Toyo R1s in the back. Fronts are 235/40/18 rears are actualy 245/40/18. At this point NO rubbing, but I hardly ever drive with ppl in the car as it is my daily. It looks like to do 245s on the next set of tires I should to a moderate roll of all the fenders just to be safe. I have to admit these rims fit perfectly for this car (almost like they should have been there from the factory) and the are nice and light. Plus being a rotary guy, its cool to see the rotor design in each of the spokes. Here are a few shots of them on my car. http://i535.photobucket.com/albums/e...1008-00058.jpg http://i535.photobucket.com/albums/e...1008-00056.jpg http://i535.photobucket.com/albums/e...1008-00059.jpg http://i535.photobucket.com/albums/e...1008-00057.jpg now... onto the next mods. |
Those look great! |
what the genpu wheels should have looked it |
You have Black Mica Speed 6 not black onyx thats the color name on the regular 6. Also its not a great idea to be running different size tires on awd car the height has to be the same all around. |
Looks decent but different size tires on an awd car? May want to do some more research before you drive for a long time with those... |
^^^^ this, your rear tires are a full inch larger in circumference than your fronts. That can't be good for your PTO. |
Rims look good but I agree with previous posts, might be running into trouble in the future with differents size tires front and rear with awd..... |
