Anyone with Rota P45F Does anyone have these set of wheels from Rota? I'm thinking of getting them, but wanted to get some opinions first. |
I know a guy that had them (at least at one time). I don't know if he still has them, or even if he still has his MS3 for that matter... :dunno: I've sort of lost touch with him. What specific questions/concerns do you have about them? |
From what I've seen and read on various car forums, Rota's are not a good performance wheel. Mannnnnny pictures of fucked up Rota's after track sessions/hard driving. Just food for thought. |
I've had 2 sets of Rotas that were put up to some heavy abuse in open-track and autocross, as well as daily driving and I never had a failure of any kind. Some of their designs are probably more prone to the stresses of heavy use than others, but the P45F is a pretty stoutly designed wheel. The two sets I had (and these were both on a Focus) were 16x7 et40 Slipstreams and 16x7 et40 RBs. |
Ive had two sets of Rotas as well and never had a bend or crack out of any of them. I never tracked them but beat them up on mountain runs before and daily driving. All wheels break under extreme conditions. Are Rotas more likely to bend or break then a Volk? Yes. Its the difference between the forged and cast wheels. Here is a pic of a Honda wheel that came into our shop after hitting a pothole on the freeway. Shitty cellphone pic but you get the idea. http://memimage.cardomain.com/ride_i...0263_large.jpg |
That was a bigass pot hole.... I have run rota's as well, on numerous cars including my current wrx. No issues yet. |
Any wheel can break if abused properly. Ive had Rota Torques, 18X8 +48 for 18 months now. Wheels have held up fine with over 25,000 miles. Not one issue with them. |
