Default best all season tire for mazdaspeed 6?

What do you guys run for a ultra high performance all season or a high performance all season tire that handles decently IN THE SNOW? I know most would say snow tires but I cant afford to get both. I need new tires anyways. Thanks!

I've had both Eagle GT's and now my Conti DWS and I definitely like my Conti's better. They are supposedly to be a great all around tire, both in winter and in dry/wet.

My favorite has definitely been the Toyo Proxes Plus 4s. I switched to the Nitto Motivos and regret it. They don't have the dry traction grab the toyos did.

Why are you asking this? It's not exactly as if this is information that can't be found by searching.

Most people who actually drive in the snow seem to go with DWS's. They're a good mixture of winter grip, cornering ability, and ride comfort.

I asked because I went on tire review sites and that tire wasn't that great. The pirelli p zero nero all season is ranked High on that list.

If you can't afford winter tires, why do you own a MS6? Don't be a cheap ass, having dedicated winter tires is no more expensive in the long run.

Nitto motivos. Ran them on a few cars. Great wet and dry traction and good snow traction.

Try searching there are plenty of threads on here that state the DWS is the best all around all season.

Separate tires and wheels for winter is the way to go.

Bro u dont know what I can afford and what I cant. Winter tires arent much more expensive then the ones I looked it. Its more they wear much quicker because they are softer. Im pretty sure I have more into my stereo then you do in your car

I bought the dsw

I run all seasons year round to cut down on tire costs. I agree that a dedicated set of winter tires is a little silly if you can get away with all seasons in the winter.

Kumho PA31's were literally the cheapest all season I could find and they've done well. Having AWD makes dedicated winter tires a little less important.

I agree...i had kuhmo 4x great all around tire in dry and wet, didnt have much snow here to compare snow traction, but even with worn Pirelli pzero Nero, awd was great, researched the PA31's, thinking strongly about the Conti DWS, or even saving money and getting the GMax AS 03...don't drive as hard as most.

I will say if the decision for me becomes too hard i'd have no problem going back to the Kuhmo 4x.

For accelerating sure...the braking/steering capabilities of an AWD are no better than that of a FWD or RWD vehicle. The extra traction afforded by winter tires can decrease stopping distances significantly (10's of feet) which can be the difference between stopping safely and running into the back of another car.

Luckily, I know how to drive and can compensate for inclement weather.

LoL ya, me too...I live in this country called Canada, where we have this thing called winter

I learned to drive on a ford escort (whopping 88hp lol) on permanently ice covered roads with the cheapest of cheap all season tires in a car that didn't have ABS or stability control or traction control or any driver aids whatsoever. Somehow I managed to survive and never have an accident and actually know how to handle adverse conditions. Versus now where I have Michelin Xice Xi2's on my MS3 for winter in a car that is far more capable.

That said, shit happens and being able to stop 20 feet shorter with good winter tires is worth the investment.

+1 for Conti DWS. It rains and snows heavily here and they are 100x better than what my P Zeros were like in bad weather. Not as good as the Zeros on asphalt, but unless you're tracking it, it's not a huge difference and certainly not enough to make me take the DWS off and swap to something else. Braking in snow and rain is awesome. Tread wear has been excellent as well.

I have run 2 sets of P Zeros on my car and I love them. I live in RI, we get a fair amount of snow here but nothing too crazy. I think I am going to try the Continental DWS's on the next go around

I'm running conti DWS on my car right now. I've only driven in the snow on a trip to tahoe this February, but being that it was my first time even driving in snow, I think they did great. I was completely comfortable. They have pretty good traction in dry weather and I have to try to get them to act squirrely in the rain. Having AWD makes a significant difference in traction, so I don't know how much is the AWD system and how much is the tires. They do squeal under cornering at relatively low speeds with higher steering angles, compared to other cars I've driven. I do run about 42PSI to help compensate for lack of sidewall stiffness, so I'm not sure if that has a major effect on anything.

I would not recommend the P Zero Nero's. I get nothing but complaints about them at the VW dealership I work at. They came stock on some VWs and it was so bad that my service manager asked us to recommend everything but them when customers needed new tires. He got sick of all the complaints of road noise and uneven wear. Just my 2 cents, I don't have any first hand experience running them.

I live in Colorado on a hill at 7325 feet, I have winter and summer wheels but have converted to all seasons on the stock 18's (winters were 17's) why? I have never felt more surely planted on ice and snow than I did with the Blizaks, a good winter tire is an incredible experience in a car that can take advantage of it; that said; we can have snow today, ice packed roads tomorrow and 70+ degree weather on the third day, rinse, repeat and you will see winter tires fade well before they should, I got 1.5 good seasons out of those tires and I should have gotten 3, the temperature swings are too great and changing tires out weekly would suck.

So I think all seasons are a fair compromise and even more so in an AWD vehicle, but if you have more money in your stereo than I have in my car? a set of wheels on craigslist is chump change and if you look long enough you will find them with the winter tires you should have. you want to know how good your tires are? turn off abs/traction control in a good winter storm, it can be silly, it can be fun and it can be the end of your car depending on how you and the tires actually drive. Get the DWS's you won't hate them.

I ran dws extreme in the harsh Minnesota winter, they do ok. But i bought a dedicated set of Michelin ice tires last winter and they have amazing grip (as they should for pure winter tires). That said dws extreme's are a great choice if you want to stick with all seasons

Default best all season tire for mazdaspeed 6?

I have the Kumho PA31's as well and I'm very impressed with how they handle in the winter.
