Default Best Tires/Size On Stock Rims

Im really in need of new tires and don't really have a lot of money to spend, but I don't want to get crappy tires... I also don't want to break the bank. Whats a good mid range proformance tire thats good but not too expensive...and what size tires would you guys recommend and why? Thanks for all your help in advance!

i really like the idea of a 225/40 but is that too wide for stock rim? would 215/40 be better? Also is there really much difference between 215/40 and 215/45?

Nitto NT555 are about $114 a tire at Discount Tire in size 225/40. I am thinking about getting those, the NT05's are quite a bit more, but everyone I talk to says they are like the best tire they have ever had. 225/40 $151

my vote goes to starspecs for awesome grip both in the dry and wet. on stock rims i would go 225s, more rubber on the road is always a good thing

theres a 50 rebate on them now too

If the choice was between Fuzion ZRi for $448 shipped or Hankook Ventus V12 evo K110 for $534 shipped... which is it?

Hankook V12's now have a $50 rebate. Reviews sound a little better for those. Tire rack has 215/45-18 (stock size) for $121 before shipping. I'm considering getting the Hankooks.

225/45/18 all the way! it fits the stock rim great and protects it too! also a tad meatier than the too low profile stockers.
i went with general exclaim uhp's

I'm in the same boat, looking at Discount Tire, Nitto NT NeoGen 225/40/18's at $110 a pop... Not too bad... Think I might get 'em...

i just got 215/45 goodyear eagle gt's on my stock rims and i love them. Not much noise and they are AWESOME in the rain. they're a little more pricey than the hankook at $140 per tire, but its a great summer tire and all the tire shops i visited recommended the goodyears highly. you can probably find them cheaper on tire rack but thats probably without shipping included. Goodyear has a $20 rebate on them right now too. don't know if you can get that rebate ordering from tire rack though. i got mine at a local tire store without shipping costs obviously. Balanced and on the car for another $60. two thumbs up
