cheap decent all season yeah im pretty low on funds right now and winter is approaching im in STL so our winters arent horrible, but i need some recommendations on cheap decent all seasons thanks! |
check tirerack.com there are a lot of different ways in which you can find tires... size, car make and model, type of tires you want, etc. They also have good reviews and do tests to the tires. Its a good site man. |

Cooper Zeon ZPT and Kumho ECSTA ASX |
I have the Kumho ecsta asx 225/45r 18 inch tires on my MS3...hey are very tough tires..I would hit everything in the road and I never glost air or got a flat.. HOWEVER, if your winters there are really bad I would get a cheap set of snow tires because the Kumhos are just average in the snow. I purchased snows and steelies for my car for like 500 bucks installed.. |
i would say continental extreme contact dws. there not really cheap... but we got 6 inches of snow tonight and they did great. they are the best all season tire in the snow. |
If you want reviews on the Conti DWS go to Discount tire look at the reviews on the 225/45/18 DWS LOTS of people give this tire a 5 star on a 1-5 scale many reviews on this tire They sell out quick and discount tire doesn't have any, Tire rack did have the 215's as of last week |
I got the Kumho ASXs we had them for a decent price through my work and I was on threads so couldn't wait much longer lol |
not to say that tirerack.com isn't reliable, but they carry only select manufacturers. i tried searching for other recommendations on other sports car forums (i.e. mostly rear wheel drive car forums) to see what others had to say, and ended up getting nitto neogens based on what I read. |
I, too, have the Kumho Ecsta ASX tires equipped on my car. They were on my car with plenty of tread when I purchased my car certified pre-owned at 35,000 miles (I'm sure they were put on not too long before the previous owner traded) and they are great. I don't have issues in inclement weather unless I'm launching on the aggressive side in the rain (doesn't really work for any cars anyway). In the rain, I actually feel comfortable at freeway speeds of 70-80 MPH on these tires. On another note, I put almost 12,000 miles on my car in the six months I've owned it and the tires are still looking great. I recommend them. |
im in stl too..i went with dunlop sp sport sigs....love them |

I was low on cash cause of holidays, but needed tires bad. I threw some 225-40 general exclaim uhp's on the car. After setting air pressure to 38psi an putting 500miles on them they are gripping real nice. They look sick too. The sidewall at first seemed too soft but they were at 31psi so I put them at 38psi and it's all good. I live in the mountains outside of Temecula. Car is driven in the canyons 55 miles to palm springs. Tires have been excellent. Wet performance is very good for $101 a tire. http://i997.photobucket.com/albums/a...a/27473362.jpg http://i997.photobucket.com/albums/a...a/b3a5d522.jpg http://i997.photobucket.com/albums/a...a/c633e915.jpg |
Those Generals aren't recommended for snow and ice. |
i got the dws's and i'm in stl too! sucks already this year! |

I have the Cont DWS and the one thing I've noticed is that the sidewall is really soft. It gives me a very floaty feel when turning sharply... Other than that, they are excellent! |
