Cost to Roll

Has anybody every paid a shop to roll your fenders and if so how many bills did you have to toss their way? I do almost everything on my car my self but I just wanted this done right so my paint will not crack. If it is cheep enough I will just have someone do it. Also out of those who have rolled themselves did you have to F with the finder liner or trim anything down? I saw a crappy how to on a s2k and they had to cut the fender liners to roll which I do not want to do if I can avoid it. I am going with 17/8 Enkei RPF1's a 45 offset and 245/45/17 Hankook Ventus V12 Evo K110's

One last thing, anyone know the cost of a Front Sway bar install? I don't know why but I guess I have gotten lazy all of a sudden and don't really want to F with it. It sounds like a pain in the ass to do so...

I never did it before either. I got one from ebay as a rental, with heat gun. Took a long time to do the first, the 2nd was quicker. Do it yourself, take your time, follow the manual. You will be fine.

between $55-$65 per fender..

I did mine at a local MS3 owners house. Heat gun and a fender roller. Took about 30 min per fender just in waiting for it to heat up. We used a laser temp gauge to check the temp of the fender as we did it, to make sure the temp stayed high in all areas of the fender as we rolled.

If you crack the paint, just spray some clear coat into it, but if you take your time, it wont crack.

yo, fuck paying 55 or whatever he said per fender.

i borrowed one for free from the owner of this site cause he lived a few minutes from my house..

use a heat gun, and roll slowly and carefully. you can adjust the pressure in the fender and the angle, its way easier than it looks and you can get your desired roll.

now another reason i suggest doing it.. i have a buddy (who drives an ms3) who just payed a body shop ($30 bucks) to do this shit. he came by my house. they barely rolled them, and didnt use a heat gun. his paint was cracked to all hell and now hes fucked.

you care more about your car than the shop, just rent the roller/ heat gun and DIY... i feel bad for my buddy who got screwed... he would have done it way better for what pretty much could have been zero cost to him.

Why can't we just have rolled fenders from the factory, lol

FenixTX717 07-15-2010 11:22 AM

I know a place here in WI that will do it for $20 bucks a fender but after seeing that video I'm convinced I just need to do it myself!

JacksonMS30 07-15-2010 11:26 AM

I'm gonna have to do this pretty soon.

Thanks jv92red for the info!

I am rollin' them tomorrow and then the new wheels and tires get to come out and play. I will then take some pictures and try to get them up this weekend.

danesti 07-17-2010 10:58 AM

make sure all the screws/ fasteners that hold your fender liner are out of the way... besides that its a cake walk.
HEAT GUN!!!!

Clover 07-17-2010 11:14 AM

Wait, do I have to take the fender liner out? Or, do I just take the screws out, roll then put them back in?

I paid a local Subaru guy 40 dollars to roll my fenders with the tool that bolts onto the hub.

A good trick when renting the fender roller is to plan ahead and get some friends who need it done too. Before I owned one, we rented a roller for the weekend and did 8 cars.

Got the roll done, the front sway bar on, and new wheels and tire on on Monday. So far everything feels great. The ride is a little harsher but the pressure is up in my tires right now. I have not had a chance to really get on it as I have only driven in traffic so far but this weekend I will go out and play. After I see how these changes feel I will give her a wash and take some pictures of the new set up. They do look good in my opinion and the 245's with the 45 offset does fit pretty well with a roll and I am glad I decided to go for it in instead of the 235's.
