Default Dont know what to do but need to buy new tires fast!!!!!

OK, so I want to do 1 of 2 things but do not know what is rational. I cant afford to buy rims and tires at the same time so that is out the window. But I need to replace my stock tires, I have 35,000 miles on them and they are the same tires from when I bought new.

Can I:

A. Replace the stock tires, but when I buy new 18 x 8 rims can the stock tires fit on the new rims. I don't want to buy new tires then have to replace them 3 months from now because I can afford new rims.

or

B. Buy the 225/40/18 size tire that will be used for the new rims that I will get later, but will they fit on the stock rim without any issues, or wearing bad.

I will get an alignment done no matter what but I need to replace the tires now. Just don't know whether or not to replace tire with stock size then stretch them to the new rims, or buy the correct tire size for the new rims but put them on the stock rims until i can afford the new rims about 3 months later.

Any help would be great thanks.

I say go with 225s. They work fine on stock rims.

I have all season tires on my stock rims and summer tires on my VOLKs. If you can afford it, that's the way to go. Better performance all year and you don't get your nice rims crusted with corrosive salt deposits in the winter.

You'll be fine fitting 225/45/18 on other 18" wheels. same goes for 225/40/18

Get Nitto Extreme 555's from discounttiredirect.com, they have free shipping

I'd go with 225/45/18, they fit just fine on the stock wheels. Give discount tire a call, if you get tires from them, maybe even have tires mounted from them, I believe they'll swap the tires between rims for free.

ok so now for another question, the rims I am buying are the 18 x 8 rota torque rims later after I buy the tires. I was told that 225/40/18 will not rub, but every posted to buy 225/45/18 and i heard they might have a rubbing problem when or if I decide to lower my car. What is true? I would like a thicker tread but Im not to sure if I want to do a fender roll. Thanks for any advice.

On tire rack I checked out like every 225/40/18 tire and the only ones within specs for the stock MS3 rim is the Yokohama Parada Spec 2's. All the other tires required a rim 7.5 inches are bigger. I'm on my 2nd set of Parada Spec 2's (stock rims) they preform great and aren't real expensive!

OK I don't know if its me but I'm getting really confused. What specs are you talking about that all the other 225/40/18 tire's don't have that the Yokohama's did. And are you going to get new rims and use those tire's? and just to make sure what is the stock rim size 18 x 7 or 18 x 7.5? Thanks in advance......again

now that was much clearer, so I will be ordering 225/40/18 tires and putting them on my stock rims for now, until i save up for the 18 x 8 rota torque and in theory I should be able to use the same tires on the new rims correct?

and also where would I get the best deal, i looked at discount tire direct and tire rack.

also where can i buy some red lugs that will fit the new rims that I am getting. I want this to be as painless as possible when i am ready to go through with everything.

Thanks for all your help

The statement was that he checked every 225/40/18 tire's spec and the only ones within spec for the stock MS3 rims is the Yokohama's which sounds like to me any other 225/40/18 tire would not fit. Like Dunlop, kuhmo, goodyear will not fit the stock rim even though the tire will be the 225/40. So to me that was confusing as if I could only use the Yokohama's in that size and NOTHING else will fit. Now ms3077 was that clear enough for you to have me answer your question that had nothing to do with my original post? Because I stated that I was confused by his comment because it came off to me that only Yokohama's in that size will work for our car, which I find hard to believe.

Nothing to do with your post? I told you what 225/40/18 tire (according to tirerack) is within spec for a MS3 rim (You wanted to know if a wider tire would be okay while on your stock rims waiting for your aftermarkets) Sure other 40 series tires will fit but that doesn't mean they're within specs. Now was that clear enough for you fuckstick?? Your reading comprehension is fail, try reading some books or something.

They're 7 inches wide (about 2inches shorter than my cock..) and if you look at all the specs of 225/40/18 tires on tirerack you will find that only the Yokohama parada spec2's are the only ones that indicate they're okay for a 7inch wide rim (such as the MS3). I'm sure you can fit practically any 225/40/18 tire on the MS3 rim but if something happens to the tire you're SOL (tire wasn't within specs for your rim= no warranty not their problem) You might think that all like tire sizes are the same but you'd be wrong.

P.S. I was j/k about the cock ref lol! I wish

always check tire specs on the manufacturers website, sites like tirerack aren't always accurate. I have run into issues on other cars where wheel/tire vendors say a tire is within spec but the manufacturers specs on the tire don't.

It depends on the offset of your rims.

You might find and error here or there but they're right about 99% of the time. Tirerack is pretty squared away

Wow I look at the post and ms3077 you need to just calm down. I think you got offended because your statement was not clear to me and I just so happen take mordant80's advice not yours. Im not gonna argue over the internet and look like a douche bag like you just became. I dont know you and could careless about your small penis size. All i was saying to your comment about not understanding you is that you basically said that Yokohama tires were the only ones in "spec" your spec or tireracks spec it does not matter, there are a lot more tires to choose from that will fit on the stock rim.

And also I was not asking everyone on the forum to tell me the same thing that i would find if i looked on tirerack. I wanted to know who else owns a MS3 and have stock rims that have a different tire size, and for those people who do have that setup what do they have for a tire brand. You basically told me their is one tire that will do the job and i was just disagreeing with you, cheer up man dont have hard feelings and dont start acting like a 10 year old that has not had their balls drop yet.

i think everyone here just needs to calm down, get inside your ms3, turn it on, drive to the store and buy a bottle of NOS energy drink and pour it down your ms3 fuel tank.

You should be grateful I took the liberty of researching all the 225/40/18 tires on tire rack. I saved you time and offered you feedback on what I thought was a good tire and within mfg specs. Don't insult me because your reading comprehension blows. The others groaning my post are just morons from 24/7 that have a hard-on for me so don't feel too good about your self. I even mentioned the other tires would fit you dumb ass. Moral of the story: Make sure you can read before you make yourself look stupid. Thanx!

Well actually the liberty you took looking through all of those tires where for yourself. So im glad you wasted your time to find out that info, and i would have to say you kind of have everyone thinking your stupid for blowing up on a comment that was over the internet. That is because you can shield yourself behind the internet and say whatever you feel like. Once again you took my comment as me attacking you when i was just simply disagreeing with you about your OP saying that "you checked many tires" and the yokohomas are within "spec". Look at your first post you never said that any other tire will fit also. I hope I made your dick jump a little again cause I find this to be a funny thread that I figured would be answered after a couple of posts but now im just replying back because I want to see what your going to say next. Oh the excitement!!!!!

the fact you said "ALL THE OTHER TIRES REQUIRE A 7.5" RIM" that is what threw me off. No where do you mention that other tires will work. If other tires work just say so. k

Yes this is true, all the other 225/40/18 tires require a 7.5" RIM or larger according to Tirerack. I made no mention as to if they would "fit" or not; I simply recommended a 225/40/18 tire (Yokohama Parada spec 2) that is within specs for a 7in RIM (MS3). If you want to run with a tire that wasn't designed for your RIM go for it! Hell I've seen ppl with 235/40/18's on the stock MS3 rim, I know they'll fit but that doesn't make it right. I did nothing but give you an honest answer backed by research/experience and you were a dick.
