Evo X Wheels on my MS6

here ya go kids... I LOVE THESE! Had to do a SUPER rear fender roll, but they are clearing right now. tires are 235/40/18 hankook rs2's. The car handles way better now, super noticable...and I love the aggressive offset, just completes the car IMO. I even got the stock center caps to fit. Enjoy.

LOL....yep. Why, you work there?

m4tic 02-12-2010 01:02 AM

i was out there visiting my sis a few weeks ago when i came across your car and took a pic.... i asked some ppl inside the food joint if they knew who's car it was...

the wheels look nice... if i could find a buddy club P1 style wheel in 18x8.5 +35 fitment, i would be happy

zoom1&zoom2 02-12-2010 01:05 AM

thats funny...I live about 5 min from there, I go there all the time, the people know me, but not my car.

Nothing wrong with the wheels in your pic...those look sweet too. Thanks

TegRacer324 02-12-2010 06:34 AM

mazdadope 02-12-2010 09:22 AM

wow! very nice, my buddy wants those wheels for his MS6 and he is chewing his fingers off every time he see's the price.. Curious to how much you grabbed yours for? I think they r amazing and the bulge from the fender is not too much but just right... makes the 6 look beefy. again very nice:banana:

it doesnt bother me... but I am going to ask a friend of mine who owns a machine shop if he could shave about 5 mm from the back of the rims, where they actually mount to the car. Going to do some research and find out if its safe, I also know the guy who owns Complete Custom Wheels "CCW", going to ask him about it as well. I love em now, but if them came in just a few mm...they'd be perfect.

$850 with the tires. Tires have 1500 miles on them. I was stoked.

I got them for $850 with the tires, the tires have 1500 miles on them, I jumped at the oppertunity to buy them. I did have to ship them though, so it ended up being $1000. But I got lucky and had a side job come into my shop this past week, so the timing was just perfect. Thanks man.

BaseballD2 02-15-2010 04:55 PM

Yeah I've been looking for a set too. Does anyone know the weight of these rims? I think Im gonna powdercoat em gunmetal or black to go with the black mica.

SpeedSixxx 02-16-2010 01:45 AM

evo X rims are 18x8.5 with a +35 offset?

it was a MUST to do a rear fender roll?

I'm not lowered right now so you think I would be ok with 18x8.5 rims?

H3llfir3 02-16-2010 07:57 AM

you'll be fine with stock suspension unless you launch the car. Since our cars have a lot of squat stock it will rub. The second you lower the car it will rub, so rolling will be necessary.

Everyone needs to understand that when fitting wider wheels and tires on a vehicle that was not made for it, changes will be needed to make it work. That includes rolling fenders, running coilovers, cutting out parts of the fender liner etc. It's all part of the flush game, if you are not prepared to "persuade" your car to get it to work then sticking to less aggressive offsets is where you want to be.

06spped6 02-16-2010 08:02 AM

there was a good thread on here not too long ago about suspension difference and how much and how to roll your fenders I'll see if i can find it.

Next time I take one off the car I will weigh it and one of the stock MS6 wheels for comparison.

yes...18x8.5 with 35mm offset
yes... rear fender roll is a MUST
stock height and 235/40...might be ok.

priceprince 02-22-2010 04:03 PM

I really dig it. You and Yoichi musta had to nearly cut that whole fender lip off to get these wheels to fit.

no cutting required, but you have to roll basically the entire rear fender from 8oclock to 3 oclock...and roll it damn near flat. I had to roll it twice, after the first roll it was still rubbing. now everything clears, even with 300 lbs of people and stuff in the back.

danesti 02-22-2010 05:24 PM

i messed my fenders up when i tried to roll that much

Ryan33 02-22-2010 09:59 PM

Holy shit they do look great. I wasnt sure how those would look on a 6 but damn..

The first time I rolled em it went fine, no problems, when I went to get more I didnt get the fenders hot enough and got some paint cracking...but it was out of site, sanded it all down under there and repainted it by hand. No one will ever see it though.

Thanks, I actually think they look better on the Ms6 than the MS3...but thats just me.

bergj1986 02-25-2010 02:59 PM

I'm looking at a set of these locally, the guy is asking $800 with worn tires, I think that's a bit much. I'm going to be needing tires anyway for my stock MS3 rims I'm currently using, I figured now would be the best time to do the swap. I would be running 225/40-45/18 on the Evo rims, think I would still have to do as much of a rear fender roll as you have?

s33no3vil 02-25-2010 04:12 PM

i really like those wheels i would just feel wierd putting a mitsu wheel on a mazda but thats just me... they still look sexy!

N118GT 02-26-2010 11:06 PM

Not really a mistu wheel, they're made by enkei, and I don't believe there's any mitsu emblems/bullshit on them anywhere.

H3llfir3 02-27-2010 07:31 AM

The only mitsu emblem on the things were the center caps. When i first got the wheels i put on the mazda center caps too but I didnt feel right lying to myself like that LOL so ive been running without caps ever since.

Docnox 02-27-2010 09:07 AM

Great looking 6, how much did you get the wheels for? If you don't mind me asking.

Also, where'd you get the clear bumper reflectors? I like that.

barcainho 02-28-2010 04:45 PM

looks real good

Remspeed3 02-28-2010 11:40 PM

Those are Badassss! I love the clean look.

bnoon 03-01-2010 11:47 AM

Love them. Can't believe it took anyone this long to get some on there.

monkeySPEED 03-01-2010 04:43 PM

Looks really really good bro...my friend has the EVO X and I have always wondered what they would look like on a Mazda...good call man

I got the rims and tires for $1K shipped. The front and rear reflectors are from theRPMstore.com.

But it appears they dont have them anymore...weird. They are smoked in color and have red LED's in them in the rear and yellow LED's in the front ones.

SlobaltSS 04-01-2010 09:59 AM

Oh ok sweet.

Ferdball 12-27-2010 12:57 PM

Did you have to do anything to get the center caps to fit, or did they just slap in?

Also, any regrets from going with these wheels? I'm thinking of getting a set with stock Evo tires. I'm not lowered and I have an MS3, but I'm sure I'd have to roll my fenders.

jdcms6 01-01-2011 02:42 PM

really nice man. this is the same exact plan I want for my ms6.

on a side note, you have pics of how your roof rack is mounted? it looks like it's mounted right on the roof molding

path914 01-03-2011 11:27 PM

Looks great... if you ever decide to sell the wheels, I'm right in La Mesa too ;)

MazdaspeedGT08 01-03-2011 11:49 PM

im selling a set of the buyer doesnt follow through with the sale! going to repost if the sale falls through

No regrets here, I think with stock ride height you'll be ok... But lowered you need a roll and 235's IMHO. I ran hankook 235's that cleared nice, then some nitto invo 235's and they rubbed, now some Michelin pilots in 235 that clear super nice. Tire choice may be critical.

Those black roof moldings literally pop right off, pry on them a little at the very back and you'll see they just snap on, under them Mazda was nice enough to install 4 threaded mounting points, I started from there. Only mod to the car was I had to drill 4 small holes in the actual black roof strips for the bolts to go thru to the threaded factory mounts.

Thank you so much!!! Another question, how much did you spend on your roofrack? Got a link?
I might have to precision cut the black roof molding (strips) along the bolts so I can pop the cutout back if I remove the roofrack, or I might just replace the cutouts with similar bolt mounting cover that subaru uses on their cars for an oem look.

No problem... I got all the roof rack stuff from REI.. Just walked in and pieced together what I wanted. It's not a kit.
