Just ordered New tires.

Four 235/45 ZR 18 VREDESTEIN ULTRAC SESSANTA
280 A A

I've read tons of great reviews on these and got them cheap (I think) $605 shipped.

Anyone else heard of these or used them?

http://www.vredestein.com/file_bande...oraanzicht.jpg
I think they go like this, kinda awkward.

miguelbates 09-23-2009 08:21 PM

like the nicest fucking tires on the planet ROFL nice dude!

Snuzz 09-23-2009 08:25 PM

Nice tread design. Let us know what you think!

MZRDISI4 09-23-2009 08:33 PM

Yes I've heard of these, they are realllllly good tires.

IshiKage 09-23-2009 09:07 PM

they look noisy but badass

taf0422 09-23-2009 09:14 PM

hmm, I'll have to look into these when my stockers go!! 25K+ on them and still kicking

mouse0330 09-23-2009 09:21 PM

hey, looks pretty good, looks like you are ready for that one mile no limit...lol

looks like good wet traction design..do they have them for 20" lol

superskaterxes 09-23-2009 09:24 PM

hmmm cant say i would ever buy some no name tire esp for that kinda money. tires are a little important to just trust to some reviews.

MZRDISI4 09-23-2009 09:30 PM

These aren't no name tires, just because you haven't heard of them doesn't make them no name. Vredestein has been in the business for a long time

superskaterxes 09-23-2009 09:33 PM

no to sound like an internet n00b but does tirerack carry them? not saying tire rack is one all be all but they are the WORLDS leading tire retailer by a monopoly and most places that even carry tires buy them from tire rack so if they arent sold or tested there i wouldent buy them. theres a reason why things are "name brand" because they earned that brand through quality product and service.

superskaterxes 09-23-2009 11:09 PM

ms3077 09-24-2009 12:46 AM

Here is mine, now this are noisy but boy do that perform! Thread pattern is sort of similar to those VREDESTEIN but much more aggressive.

Yeah, 280 tread wear, will last about 1 year lol. These are supposed to be up there on dry grip and wet grip scores. Ferrari, BMW and other European high dollar cars use them.
They also have a wider contact patch due to design, 235 will have a contact patch size of a 245 tire.

Problem with Tread wear ratings is they are not regulated like traction and speed ratings are. A tire is put through various tests to determine the tires ablility to stop under wet conditions(traction rating) or its ability to dissipate heat (speed rating) but there is not a test that is done to compare treadwear ratings from one manufacturer to another.

with the 280 tread wear the manufacturer of the tire is expecting that tire to last 280% longer than their standard test tire. Lets say that test tire was supposed to get 1000 miles therefore they expect that tire to get 280 % better than their test tire. Now lets say the competitors test tire got 4000 miles and they rate their tire with a 280 treadwear than that tire would get 280 % better than 4000 miles.

I never really look at tread wear ratings when purchasing a tire anymore. Sad thing is tire manufactures use the treadwear ratings as a selling point when its deceptive and most the time unrealistic.

mouse0330 09-24-2009 05:58 PM

its all how you drive, doesn't matter if its above or below 300tw, if you drive like a maniac you eventually run them out soon, most people that owns this type of cars doesn't buy them and drive like grandma....so we always go out to find something good and cheap, so I think you should appreciate that bio is sharing this info...

by the way superskater, you related to corbs?

MZRDISI4 09-24-2009 06:09 PM

I actually have a pics of a test this tire was in, I'll upload it in a sec

bioevolve 09-24-2009 07:12 PM

Ummm, can some one translate lol? Looks like 244 points for the tires I got? #1?

I look at the tread wear as under 300 is softer, better dry grip but faster wear.
Over 300 is harder, less grip but longer lasting.
But mouse0330 is right on how they are driven mainly depends on life length.

MZRDISI4 09-24-2009 07:16 PM

That's pretty much all that matters, it was the best in test.

Snuzz 09-24-2009 08:07 PM

I really want to see these tires in person. Thanks for the post bio. I am about 10k miles away from shopping for tires.

lidokrantz 09-25-2009 08:01 AM

VREDESTEIN has been around a very long time. I bought a set of these(different tire) for my Z years ago and the grip was really good...the ONLY issue i had with them was that they had to much road noise and hummed like a mother. Thet tread design on these are really nice..enjoy!!

KaiserSoze 09-28-2009 10:43 PM

Where did you order these? May have to look into them.

Also, Tire Rack doesn't carry Nitto or Toyo either. Just because they're not carried by Tire Rack doesn't mean they're crap tires.

Great point! You can find any tire on E-bay (new, used) and for cheap! discount tire does a lot of business there.

This is the guy I bought from, he had a 1 day sale. Now they are back up to $676 shipped for four tires of that size. But he does have other sizes.

I just take them to the GoodYear tire place on Del Prado BLVD in Cape Coral. About the only name brand place that will put tires new or used on that they didn't sell you lol. Every other place will not put on tires that are used or tires that weren't sold by them. So because that, this GoodYear shop gets all my install business.

I should have the tires Friday (hopefully) and either take them down after work or do it Saturday this week.

Nliiitend1 09-29-2009 12:03 PM

I believe this is a Dutch-Russian company that went bankrupt this past spring and was then purchased by India-based Apollo Tires...

I'm curious to hear more about them. They may be a great tire, but for what they cost there are tires that I KNOW are great tires that I would probably buy first. That being said, I look forward to a review. :burnout:

bioevolve 09-30-2009 04:20 PM

They came in early!!!!!! Made in the Netherlands. :yup:
Have an appointment tomorrow to get them on. YAY! :burnout:

these tires look like they are worth their weight, subbed for impressions.

jdmjerry 09-30-2009 05:25 PM

i love this tread pattern! i want them!

lidokrantz 09-30-2009 05:37 PM

agreed, very very cool looking...impressions ASAP,

bioevolve 10-01-2009 04:21 PM

Got them on, only had a short drive home in bumper to bumper traffic. :banghead: :aargh4: Road noise at 45-50mph is down considerably versus the GoodYear RSA's about 50%. Will get more readings/reviews tomorrow on the highway also. Did some weaving in and out of traffic, it grips pretty damn good! Just gotta wait for some rain and test the wet traction.
There is more wheel saver lip on this tire, should help with cornering more. :burnout2: :drive:

Why'd you go with such a large sidewall??

I like going faster than what my speedometer states lol. :firedevil:

I had 245/45/18 on previously to see how much I could tuck in the fenders on the RX-8 Wheels 18x8 50mm. Which I had to roll the fenders for cutting and put air bags in the rear for rubbing. This is all done on stock suspension.

I just like taller tires, protects from pot hole damage more. More of a cusion for 18 inchers. Alittle higher off the ground. Had a bad experience with a parking lot rebar and lost lol. :swordfight:

I guess more safety, it's my daily driver. Just like my condom for the SRI.

Nliiitend1 10-01-2009 07:26 PM

Fair enough. ;)

bioevolve 10-02-2009 01:43 PM

Did a few lanches and it was just little bit harder to break loose than before. I get more of a bite, kinda bogged the engine. So now I gotta lanch at a higher RPM.
On ramp and Off ramp at higher speeds was alot better! I felt more in control.:tongue3:
Road noise was definitely quieter, 50% quieter if not more. Now I could hear my radio, engine and BPV even more now.
Cruising at 80mph I didn't have to turn up the radio so loud lol. :fing02:
When cruizing on the highway, put it in neutral and all I hear is the wind and very little bit of the road.
Now I'm just waiting for it rain.

mouse0330 10-04-2009 09:59 PM

love the new sig lol

I also have them on my new wheels oz crono.....when you touch them they feel kinda spongy ....its weird....have to wait for my car to be fixed cant tell any more about the tires since didnt drive on them yet.....

fazer72 10-09-2009 12:37 AM

Got them on my MPS6 for 2 seasons and they are about out. Can't really compare them to any other tires cause I've changed weared out stockers (that were on when I've bought my car) to them. As for my experience those are very good dry tires (not as good as R888 though) and good on wet. Ran them at autocross few times and was able to compete with EVOX 350 on stock Dunlops.

_Toxic_ 10-09-2009 02:40 AM

What kind of threads did u have on yor prev. goodyear tires? Suprised that u say these new ones is quieter.. often those arrow shaped thread makes the tire more noisy....

But if they are quiet thats great! I want quiet tires... Iam looking for new tires my self... I love Pirellis tires Specially PZero Nero. Great stuff!

Previously had Goodyear RSA's, they were really noisy.
I'm guessing on the Vredestein, you would think it would make more noise just by looking at them, but the design is really done right I think. So far Dry traction is really good, way better than I expected. Still waiting on the rain.

Yesterday on the highway going 90mph I had to avoid small and larger pieces of semi truck tire on short notice. I weaved and dodged like it was nothing, grip was there. It really made me confident that I could handle any obstacles. God like even lol. :biglaugh:

that tread pattern just look awesome. Good job with the tires man

fazer72 10-24-2009 09:44 AM

I've just reminded something - beware of slightly wet asphalt/tarmac with temp. lower than 12C with cold tires (city driving). Those tires are lousy with conditions like that and that's why I've changed them to winter tires (Vredestein's Wintrac Extreme) right now.

mdd5148 10-24-2009 10:36 AM

I have these tires on my speed6 235/40/18's. I have had them on all summer and they have been great. They have been wearing really good and still look new.

miguelbates 11-15-2009 09:21 PM

hehe ya they work good and for the price :D!

bioevolve 11-25-2009 12:59 PM

UPDATE:

It is finally raining today!!!!!!!
Drove out in it for about 2 hours, all different roads in city and highway.
It grips really great, I can make turns faster and with more confidence than before.
Better than Goodyear RSA and the Bridgestone RE-01.

I will be buying more when the time comes. :phillyb:

Last area to check is on the drag strip at 18-20psi in them, see how good they are then. This month or next month hopefully.
