Default Luke@TireRack's take on tires!!!

Luke@TireRack's take on tires! (Courtesy of IWSTI.COM)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

but I forgot who it was so here's a list

We have broken down tires into several catagories and here is a short list of what I have experienced in our testing. Now remember, we do not have every single tire line in the world so, if your particular favorite is not in this list it is probably because we haven't tested it. Also, this is my take on the testing that I have completed here at The Tire Rack on our test track.

Extreme Performance:
You want extreme dry street performance and are willing to trade some comfort and hydroplaning resistance to get it.

Not intended to be driven in snow or on ice, or at high speeds in deep standing water, these specially tuned tires combine big-block tread designs with aggressive tread compounds and reinforced internal constructions to emphasize dry road response, traction, handling and high speed capabilities for serious driving enthusiasts.

1.) Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1 Star Spec
2.) Advan Neova AD07
3.) Potenza RE01R
4.) P-Zero
5a.) Ecsta MX
5b.) G-Force KD

Maximum Performance:
These are great performing tires which offer great steering response and wet/dry traction (not for use inthe snow!!!).

1.)Eagle F1 Asymetical
2.)Pilot Sport PS2
3.)Potenza RE050A Pole Position
4.) Eagle F1 GS-D3
5.)Advan Sport
6.)SP Sport Maxx

Ultra High Performance:
A step down form the Max tires but, still exceptional performance which fits most application for a street tire that can be driven very aggressivley.

1.) G-Force KDW2
2.) Potenza RE760 Sport
3.) HTR Z3
4.) Firehawk Wide Oval
5.) Pilot Exalto PE2
6.) G-Force Sport

Ultra High Performance All Season:
Performance tires which are capable of going through the snow.

1.) Potenza RE960 Pole Position
2.) Eagle F1 All-Season
3.) Michelin Pilot Sport A/S
4.) Advan S4
5.) P-Zero Nero M&S
6.) Continental Extreme Contact
7.) BFG G-Force KDWS
8.) Tech M550

Budget Performance Tires:
Summer performance with a cost effective tire when your budget is a concern. (based on performance not cost)

1.) Kumho Ecsta SPT
2.) General Exclaim UHP
3.) Avon Tech M500
4.) Dunlop Direzza DZ101
5.) S-Drive
6.) Fuzion ZRi
7.) Sumitomo HTR Z II

****Also Note that TireRack doesn't sell Falken, Toyo, Hankook, or Nitto tires. These brands of tires were excluded from the list because they were not tested, this is designed to be a guide, not necessarily the end all comparison****

That's just a list complied of what they sell, which isn't every tire on the market.

LOL, I love how on the "updated" list, the Kumho Excsta XS is... stupid fast!

By the way, how do you even pronounce "Excsta"?

Umm, the Sumitomo HTR Z III is a max performance summer tire, not ultra high performance summer tire.

He was asking for dry/wet with no snow so max or ultra high performance summer tires would be the best.
