New RX-8 Wheels! New pictures!!!

Hello everyone! I just got my new wheels and tires installed. I ordered these refurbished RX-8 wheels from phenixwheels-store.com. They look better than new! Tires are 235/40/18 Continental Extremecontact DW. I LOVE THESE TIRES! Extremely quiet and perform much better than the stock tires. Enjoy!

Looks great! Makes me want to clean my car.

ScarMS3 02-10-2011 02:22 PM

agreed, got some nasty crap on mine right now...and i need to paint my rx8's

Karmat 02-10-2011 02:22 PM

Looks awesome. What size are the tires?

allen624 02-10-2011 02:27 PM

235/40/18. I'm lowered 1.3 inches on KW V1 coilovers and NO RUBBING! The tires are alittle rounded at the top corner which helps.

Teethkikr 02-10-2011 02:31 PM

I bought those tires for the shitty weather around here and they are much quieter than the stock junk

allen624 02-10-2011 02:47 PM

I love the tires! Handling is better than stock, and they absorb bumps so much better!

NCZ13 02-10-2011 03:37 PM

Chromed turn signals?

stefan 02-10-2011 03:51 PM

nice!

i have a set of rx8's sitting here waiting to be powdercoated (haven't decided yet what color tho). gonna go with 235/40/18 hankook v12. i'm also still undecided if i should get kw v1 or shed out some more monies for v2 coils.

considering i also still have a set of hotchkis front/rear swaybars that need to be installed i will most likely also need new endlinks since the stock ones are too long when you combine the front swaybar with coils, right?

Design 02-10-2011 04:14 PM

Any rear camber correction? Looks great!

allen624 02-10-2011 04:44 PM

I have the stock endlinks. They work just fine with the stock sway bar. Also, I have the mazdaspeed camber kit. It is a perfect correction for the coilovers. I'm not completely slammed, I'm just lowered 1.3 inches all around. Its a perfect height for a DD.

The turn signals are LED switchbacks from VLEDs. They are white when my lights are on, and then they turn amber when I signal!

Design 02-10-2011 04:50 PM

Well this is certainly reassuring for people wanting to run 235 mm tires. I may even ditch RPF1's in favor of a +50 lightweight wheel and wider tires. Thanks for the post.

doubleflusher 02-10-2011 05:24 PM

looks great.

post part # for the turn signals please?

allen624 02-10-2011 08:40 PM

These are the turn signals. They also come in 6000k, just look on the website to find them. I LOVE THEM! SO COOL!!!

These are the fogs that I have. They look sick at night because they perfectly match the signals! (NOTE: I didn't have the fogs installed when I took these pics, the fogs in these pics are the Ultra bright fogs from silvania.)

Very nice! Love the look of the RX8 wheels.

I like even more the lack of snow in your pictures!

whitespeed 02-10-2011 09:04 PM

Looks good! What tint are you running?

scriccs 02-10-2011 09:08 PM

fuck all of you in the south!

car looks really clean. have you considered powdercoating those black or gunmetal?

IshiKage 02-10-2011 09:16 PM

did you pay 170 per wheel or 170 for the set?

lyonsroar 02-10-2011 09:24 PM

Clean as fuck!
I've got a set of RX8's I'm refinishing that I bought off a guy locally for $200. Little bit of curbrash and they need tires, but for $200 you can't go wrong!

This really makes me want to get it done!

Can't agree with everyone else more. SO clean. Simple, but nice.

Haven't seen many Rx-8's on MS6's. I imagine it would look just as nice.

Damn I need to find a deal like that

HurricaneNOLA 02-10-2011 10:03 PM

Looks nice.

allen624 02-11-2011 04:05 PM

They were $170 a piece. Total price shipped to the door was $700. But they are reconditioned AND freshly powdercoated. Also, they have a lifetime warrenty on the finish. I figured that was worth it considering all the sets for $200-$300 were in rough shape and it would cost me $300-$400 to powdercoat them. I am very anal about my car so I wanted a set with zero imperfections and these are them! The wheels look as good if not better than new wheels. I really like how the silver looks on the car. I don't think I will be powdercoating them a dark color.

The tint is 15% in the rear and 20% in the front.

IshiKage 02-11-2011 04:30 PM

ouch. i was about to say, 170 for the set is an awesome deal

allen624 02-12-2011 08:45 AM

Like I said, I think this was still a pretty good deal considering they were sand blasted 3 times and completely refinished! These are true OEM wheels powdercoated in a high metallic silver. I have some better pictures coming soon with the wheels in the sun!

bnoon 02-12-2011 05:38 PM

The wheels that should have came on these cars stock instead of the puny 7" wide wheels. Looks nice with the drop and DAAAAAAAAAYUUM clean!!!

allen624 02-13-2011 08:52 AM

New pictures in the sun!

Did they come with the center caps? oh and they look great by the way! I totally am getting those or some Axis circuits.

allen624 02-13-2011 09:56 AM

I just ordered the center caps from my local mazda dealer. They are the stock center caps from the RX-8 wheel and they match the powdercoat perfectly!!! Phenix wheels did a good job matching the paint color code from the stock color.

350 for one of my stock sets and you pay shipping. I give them an A- for condition, as there is some minor curb rash on one. The rest are all near perfect.

allen624 02-14-2011 08:54 PM

Anyone know how to clean brake calipers besides painting them? In the first picture, you can see my front right caliper is a very dark color for some reason. I want to restore them back to the original silver.

I used a wire wheel on a power drill as prep before I painted my old cars calipers. Got em real clean.
