New Wheels... Finally!

Here's a few quick and dirty pics the morning after I got the tires and wheels mounted.
The sun came up much faster than I expected!

Volk GT-C 18X8 +50 Mercury Silver
Bridgestone Potenza Pole Position S03 225/45-18

Some better shots coming in the near future.

I've seen worse.

Congratulations.

Tough crowd.

RUMBLEFISH 07-28-2008 08:07 PM

I don't like them with that red at all.:grumpy: They would look real nice on my metro grey.

Na just kidding I like em.

I don't mean to trash your thread buddy. It's your car and should do what makes you happy.

I know you're looking for opinions though so I was trying out some tact.

kneedragger241 07-28-2008 09:24 PM

No worries. I'm not some thin-skinned forum newbie or someone who requires approval from people I don't know.
Nice job on your foray into the world of tact

Obviously, the wheels I chose aren't for everyone.
I wanted something different than the Rotas, Tenzos and RX8 wheels I see on most of the MS3s on the forums. To me, the wheels I chose toe the line between dressy and racy, which is exactly the look I was I was looking for on my car.
I'm happy with 'em and glad that my wheel choice isn't for everyone so I don't see my twin everywhere I go... or click.

You shut your mouth about RX-8 wheels. I happen to be thin skinned.

MazdaMan13 07-28-2008 10:33 PM

about the same rims on the ms3s i've seen these rims so many times on older rwd coupes
but nonetheless they are nice rims, and it might just be that i'm gettin defensive cause i got rx-8s lol

Exactly. But how many MS3's have you seen with 'em?
I loved these wheels on Supras and Skylines. Yeah, I'm old school like that.... which makes sense being that I'm old and stuff.

lmaooooo! Everyone knows RX-8 wheels are the best option for an ms3! lol jk...the wheels are real nice, and name brand...i just think maybe its all the polished/chrome look against the bright red without a drop that makes it not sit well....for now. Lower it and see how it looks. I also wanted dish rims for the ms3 like i had on my turbo p5...but they just looked too small unless upping to 19 which is then like riding on the chassis...so i decided against. Good luck and nice buy ;)

plus i got my rx8s for 600 with new tires and tpms :) that makes em reaaaaal nice to me! lol how much were those? Bank im sure...

kneedragger241 07-29-2008 07:01 PM

Yeah, they were salllllty!
To be honest RX8 wheels were high on my list until I got a bug up my butt to do something different. I'm at a place in my life now where I can treat myself to Volks after years of riding on whatever I could barely afford, so Merry Christmas to me.

Lymerock 07-29-2008 07:04 PM

big fan of 5 spokes, not a huge fan of chrome

certainly makes your car stand out (in a good way), so im diggin them

Zeya 07-29-2008 10:36 PM

I'm glad you posted pictures for us to see. I've been thinking about it, and with the true red (my color too) you have a black and chrome theme going from factory. We've all seen black rims, but I've been wondering what chromes would look like on true red, and now I know. It makes me wonder what a combination chrome and black rim would look like on a true red.

kneedragger241 07-30-2008 06:15 AM

They really aren't chrome. It must just be the pictures.
The lip is ridiculously polished, and the spokes are Mercury Silver; a brighter, more reflective, metallic silver paint.

I felt like all the dark wheels were too dark on the True Red, and quite frankly, I think that black wheels scream "racer boy" (as if the True Red wasn't bad enough?) and I'm past that phase of my life.
I spent too many weekends of my life at track days... now it's time to spend my Sundays sitting on the deck and drinking :beerchug:

Anyway, funny you mention themes.
Now that I have the wheels mounted and see that they are quite shiny, I'm scrapping my idea to colour match the badges. The chrome badges and bezels on the lights are all working together with the wheels now.

Thats all that matters! kudos to you ;)

Haltech 07-30-2008 09:56 AM

I like em, fuck what anyone else thinks.

red07 07-30-2008 10:04 AM

I like them as well, kind of an updated retro-look.

Do the tires rub, or is the offset just about right?

ikillforfunok 07-30-2008 06:40 PM

Those are baller. I rarely see rivets that I like; these being the exception. Christmas in July, gotta love it.

Don't listen to Haltech. He is old. OOOOOOOOLLLLLLLLDDD.

You are happy with them and that's what matters. Yandy Ras is fine with being gay, he doesn't care what everyone else thinks.

I think the drop will make a big difference.
