oh snapple...a local guy is selling 245/40/18 Nitto 555's w/ 5k on them for $350! Will they fit with a roll and 3mm or 5mm spacers. Wheels are 5-ZIGEN Fn01r-C 18x8.5 et48 for my 08 Speed3 with stock suspension for now. Soon Racelands or SenSen/eibach spring combo. |

This is his post: "Had these on my rx-8 for about 3-4 months. 5k miles at most on them. Im looking to do a clean trade honestly, on some performance summer tires to go on 07 sti w/ stock wheels. Looking to maybe go w/18's down the road, but just dont want such a tall tire if i do so. let me know what you have. Tires are awesome, insane grip in both dry and " |

Goob I have some 225/40/18's with 75% tread left. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Rich, do you have the entire set or how many of them? I need 2 |
lol uh o some competition. Yeah I have all 4 equal tread on them but pm me for details. |
Im not giving you anything for them, i will just give you your triple gauge pod :) |
Well, the dude with the NItto 555s is alive and well. Just waiting for pics of the tires. I have second thoughts about going 245/40/18s. I am thinking that 225/45/18s would give me a lil more sidewall(better for rougher roads) and will take less work to fit with minimal stretch. |
45% of 225 = 101.25 mm 40% of 245 = 98 mm The sidewall height is only 3.25 mm (~1/8") different (and that's if you're purely using math - when you factor in all the "fugding" there is with tire sizing, it's no doubt a wash). |
Cool, 245/40/18s it is. I will get a roll asap. |
Got my set of Rota grid 18x8,5... ( Shoulda gone 9,5 i know:( thats what ill do next setup). Now for tires im realy torn up between 225 or 235.... Some say I wont get any stretch with 225 and others say they have slight stretch with there 235... any opinions on what I should go for a nice stance? |
Quote:

225 will be a stretch |
I got the 245/40/18 Nitto NT 555s and they look like they are going to fit nicely on a 8.5 wheel |
Just run 215's f it |
Stretch is for pussies. Get some meat on those wheels. http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t...s/c6182dda.jpg 245/40's on 18x8.5's Tapadatass |
Function over fashion...I got the 245/40/18 Nitto NT 555s. I was gonna mount them up tonight but I haz no lugz |

Pretty sure that pic was taken right after being lowered off the jackstands. :scratchchin: He's on KW coilovers... ;) http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t...s/28d6f19c.jpg |
How the car sits right now (with spring spacers in the rear to stop rubbing): http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t...s/b705a41a.jpg http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t...s/767c39dd.jpg http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t...s/4fd85047.jpg http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t...s/4df88f8d.jpg http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t...s/a477c300.jpg Tapadatass |
that looks good, i especially like the side profile shot. thats nice you dont rub in the rear with that tire width. |

so you do you think I will rub with the 18x8.5s with 245/40s on stock suspension? |

I'd recommend finding a local NATOR member with wheels similar to the size you want and ask them to let you try them on. Tapadatass |

I have a question for anyone who has an answer lol. Story is I have a gen 2 lowered on H&R springs , my wheels are 18x8.5 +30. I won't be able to get my fenders rolled till te end of the month but do you think I'll be ok until then? (rubbing) |
Depends on your tire size |
Probably not. |
2 Attachment(s) Not super aggressive but looks good, although i wish wheels were 8.5 wide.. setup is BC Coils, Lightweight Motegi SP-10 HyperBlack 18x8 +40 w/ Kuhmo AST 225/40 tires arnt great but got them for 300 brand new so cant complain |

OEM GenPu tires are 225/40R18... Even with those narrowish tires, I would think you're going to need to massage things quite a bit to make those wheels work. |

Did you roll the rears at all when you dropped it? I'm currently on stock suspension and on the stock 215/45 tires and i'm getting some rubbing on the outer shoulder of the tire on the drivers side rear from time to time. I'm about to have to get new tires and I was thinking about going either 225/40 or 235/40 but I haven't lowered the car yet, that will come before too long, probably just some Yellows and Eibach ProKit. |

Already wrinkled paint on the inside edge of the fender wells from rolling the fenders. Eventually I'll learn how to avoid do that. |

these recent aggressive set ups... look pretty soft. wtf... every is posting pics that kind of suck. wheres the poke.. the stretch... the low offsets??!??!:irked: ========= |
|
I rather enjoy the recent trend of posting setups that have some semblance of functionality to them... :dunno: A setup shouldn't have to be retardedly misfitted to the car to be considered "aggressive". Just my $0.02... |

well i got some pics taken, lowered the front and the rear a little more, still not rubbing, time to go just a little lower and see how we feel. http://i42.tinypic.com/345yelc.jpg http://i42.tinypic.com/jpk9vs.jpg http://i42.tinypic.com/14cs1gp.jpg http://i43.tinypic.com/33u4q6x.jpg http://i42.tinypic.com/2u5x11d.jpg http://i39.tinypic.com/9kryu8.jpg http://i40.tinypic.com/11kzdjl.jpg http://i41.tinypic.com/vzc1n9.jpg |
@Rokusek We need to paint that front grill piece. Looks like ass, but on the other hand, the pictures turned out fantastic and i am rather jelly :( |

OR does anyone know where to get fenders pulled in the MD/DC area?! http://a8.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot...47464302_n.jpg They're rolled but every fucking bump (because springs I suppose) they like to make the sidewalls look more and more like spaghetti. |

Finally did some measurements on the KW's. Tires are Pirelli P-Zero A/S 215/45/18 on OEM rims. On a 1" drop with front camber maxed towards positive, here's what you're looking at: - Strut perch to inner front tire: 15mm - Rear outer tire @ -1.5* to top fender: 6mm (tire measured on incline flush with fender) Best guess, subtract 1mm of inner clearance (front) for every .1" you drop the car. |
Quote:
The relationship angle between the wheel/tire and the strut is actually increased slightly as the suspension compresses (or is "dropped" via the coilover perch), hence why we talk about "camber loss" in a Macpherson strut setup, and why such relatively large negative static camber values are necessary to get good cornering grip with such a setup. This means that your wheel/tire-to-strut clearance actually should increase ever-so-slightly as you lower the car (even though your overall static camber is becoming more negative)... |
True, but until you clear the apex of the tire's section width, clearance will continue to reduce. Example from a similar size/offset, but a more aggressive drop: http://carphotos4.cardomain.com/imag...2714_large.jpg http://carphotos3.cardomain.com/imag...2715_large.jpg |

I just ordered some hubcentric rings and some lugs...I am :Eyecrazy: about if I will rub or not. You can pull your own fenders...if you dare bwhahahaha: |

I was (short-sightedly) coming at this from the perspective of the strut tube clearance only and wasn't even thinking about the perch clearance issue.... Doh! :34: |

i'm on eibach sport springs and the wheels are 18x8 but idk the offset. They came with the car but winters were on and the dude that bought em has no clue. Rubber is 225/45. Fenders are rolled. i have an appointment to get them pulled on April 12 |

After looking at some of the stuff in this thread, I wouldn't call my shit aggressive... But here's my new wheels: Konig Kilogram 18" X 8.5" +40ET Falken 722 tire @ 245/40/18 http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...323_194402.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...323_194515.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...323_194437.jpg Annnndd...yes. I'm rubbing under certain circumstances. Rolled pretty flat, but not flush. |
I think that looks great. :fing02: |

Well the MS3 is my DD so I decided to strip off the nice wheels and make it impractical. Lol I just put these on today. They're 17x9 +30 MB Battles with a 235-40 not too crazy. They'll look good when the coilovers ever come in. http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c2...y/b7be8c2f.jpg http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c2...y/0f7aec8b.jpg |
^^meh, needs drop |
Got my 5-ZIGEN Fn01r-C 18x8.5 et48 w/ Nitto NT 555 extreme ZRs 245/40/18 on the car. No rubbing. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...1/IMAG0420.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...1/IMAG0423.jpg Next step/; moar lowz :kabong: |

I needed a reason to rid of these crappy H&R springs. These wheels look like shit now without a hard static drop. These damn GenPus sit like monster trucks even with springs. |

Stock Junkass suspension. 245/40/18s are a tad bit taller than the stock 215/45/18s so eats some gap up. I plan to go with SenSen shocks and either Eibach Pro kits for a mild drop or H&Rs for moar lowz. I heard a few rubs this moring on some large dips at highway speeds, but I know its due to the stock craptacular shocks. I can feel it when I ride the bumpstops. I think a 3mm or 5mm spacer would look nice, but would def need to roll the rears. I have plenty of clearence on the frunt struts too. I think my winter setup is closer. I run General Altimax Artics in 215/55/16s (very close to stock specs)on RX7 FDs, but they are bulgy. Overall I am loving the new found grip and nice ride of the Nittos. I had these on my old E36 ///M3 and loved 'em. Hopefully someone can take a nice photoshot of my car soon :poke: |
Put some 5mm spacers on the rear making it 18x8.5 et35, going to put the 5's up front and get 10's for the rear http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q...k/photo-27.jpg |
