Roszko 08-02-2010 02:18 AM

what're your tires?

I appreciate the individuality, but those wheels aren't my cup of tea. Although, can't go wrong with Volk.

Nice stance and fitment, I bet it looks mean rolling

nuprin503 08-02-2010 03:30 AM

Looks good CeeeJay... Keep up the good work! :)

CeeeJay 08-02-2010 10:54 AM

Went with the budget choice of Goodyear Eagle GTs.

I appreciate the individuality, but those wheels aren't my cup of tea. Although, can't go wrong with Volk.

Its all good. I'm getting a lot of mixed reactions which I knew I'd get with such a uniquely styled wheel

Nice stance and fitment, I bet it looks mean rolling

RichieRichness 08-02-2010 01:54 PM

looks great dude

jmustang68 08-02-2010 06:42 PM

Props to ya CeeeJay. Don't know those would have been my choice, but more power to ya! :)
Definitely a unique look.

SpeedSixxx 08-02-2010 07:31 PM

i wanna photo shop them onto my black spd 6

retrobmx63 08-02-2010 08:20 PM

Waaaaaaait a minute, wtf bumper is that. That's not the autoexe or corksport...

CeeeJay 08-02-2010 08:39 PM

it is an Autoexe bumper, bought it at corksport a year ago.

retrobmx63 08-03-2010 03:08 PM

LOL my mistake. I guess I've just never ever seen it in white. It makes those lines really pop.

tigermack 08-04-2010 02:12 AM

... omg those wheels... wtf.

you do realize on an AWD car you have to run the same wheel / tire size front and back.

yeah.. too bad your wrong...

i do love haters.. & those who don't understand....

======================

It's all about the tire circumference, nothing else.

it's been a few years since i've read up on this.. but i believe u can only run a 3% diff in tire size ..nothing more.. or ull break stuff....

but..

here are other posts pulled from all over...
::::
Fourtitude.com - The real deal on staggered wheels
A4_For_Baby ::
The width makes absolutely no diff. (as long as you don't have diff. widths on the front, long story but nobody normally does that). Its the diameter of the wheel/tire that matters.
If you want to run 8"s on the front and 9"s on the back you can do that as long as the final diameter, that is wheel and tire, are analogous.
-
True, it would always be safest to go with the same setup on all four corners.
However, this is what I did on my dads TT.
18x8’s in the front with 225/45
18x9’s in the rear with 245/40

This setup yields the following:

Front:
225(mm) / 25.4(mm/in) = 8.858” <--width
8.858” * .45 = 3.986” <--height
(Assuming ~30-40% deflection at tire/tarmac contact location.)
.65 * 3.986 = 2.591”
(18” / 2) + 2.591 = 11.591”

This is more or less your running radius of the front end.

Rear:
245(mm) / 25.4(mm/in) = 9.646” <--width
9.646” * .40 = 3.858” <--height
(Assuming ~30-35% deflection at tire/tarmac contact location.)
.675 * 3.858 = 2.604
(18” / 2) + 2.604 = 11.604”

This is more or less your running radius of the rear end.

The difference between the two would then effectively be about 0.013” or 13 thousands of an inch. This difference is so small (0.1%) that its effect is negligible. Under/over inflation can easily create differences of 0.500” which is 40 times bigger than the above calculated difference.

So, as long as it is done carefully/correctly it can be quite safe.
::::::::::::

if it doesn't work... Explain... Carrera4s awd ..staggered wheels... or all those high priced...
audi, bmw's, bently's, etc run staggered wheels on there awd cars..?

^ yup, he's right. It's the tire size that matters, as long as they are close enough and not hurt a thing.

They're Rota Grids, 18x9.5 +38
On BC (BR-Type) Coilovers, dropped all the way. Spacer delete on rear springs to drop it lower
No camber adjustments other than an alignment
3mm spacers on front to clear the struts when turning
Tires are Bridgestone Potenza RE760 Sport 225/40/18
Rear fenders pulled, rolled and dremmeled. Front fenders simply pulled with my hands

Thanks for the compliments man, appreciate it!

I'm looking for a set of BC's to achieve the same low-ness you and others have, but I've heard that in order to go low, you have to have BC's "revised" version of their Type BR coilovers. These revised coilovers have shorter spring lengths as well as some other stuff that makes them go lower than their previous version. From my understanding, they didn't start making the "revised" version until earlier this year. May I ask when you bought your coilovers?

i got the same problem im taking out the rear perch? (little guy used to adjust the height) as soon as i take care of the fenders and i feel i can do it without breaking anything.

ill send you a pic when i get it done showing how much it lowered it, if you dont figure something out by then.

you could also try shorter springs if you wanna keep the adjustability, i know sumthaiguy and hatchie both are running custom springs. hatchie has em in the back and sumthaiguy has em in the front for sure and i think he may have em in the back too

If you're gonna get 11" wide wheels, please do the proper fender work to make it look legit.
Even then, I'm not sure if it's going to work.

ZoomByU 01-02-2011 04:49 PM

im not even sure of the exact model. i just got the control towers because i dont like how the ones that clamp down. go on almost any roof rack site and theyll have a guide for you just make sure you get control towers. my setup was fairly expensive though wince there werent any sales going on. thats all i have for pics at the moment. those were just spur of the moment. someone actually hit my pass front fender so im waiting to get that fixed before my buddy takes some legit pics.

They really don't weigh that much. Definitely less than stockers. But I picked up a some 18x10 TE37s WITH tires and almost threw them into my face, I thought they'd be heavy, but no. Could've seriously lifted them with one finger. Crazy light. Weight: TE37 < Grids < Stock (that's a given haha)

yea, stock wheels are heavy as balls.. gen2 stockers weigh in at 25+lbs.. im hoping to drop 30lbs of unsprung weight.. i dont think the grids will cover that.. they do look fucking mean though.. maybe some 17x9 grids would help with the weight reduction..

Jealous, want your tires. Nice setup. Any plans to lower it? I saw your original thread, but I forgot if you mentioned it in there

ZoomByU 01-13-2011 11:10 PM

what kind of tires?

Roszko 01-14-2011 12:24 AM

Yokohama Advan Neova AD08

super_pablo_ 01-14-2011 08:57 AM

^^yes. 235-40-18

I only have cobb springs so far, so it is already 1" lower.
In the future I might consider coilovers, once my struts get messed up. For now, ill remain on just cobb springs.

as I stand, theres no rub, but im gonna do a minor fender roll in the rear to be safe.

edit: I do rub, a little, pics 2 posts below

theres a lot of sexy time on this page

super_pablo_ 01-14-2011 10:00 AM

I stand corrected, there IS some rub.

I didnt rub at all the first 2 days, but yesterday I pushed it as hard as I could on an empty wide road and got VERY MINOR rub. I noticed it this morning
heres the pics

the other rear tire has even less. so Id say this setup is quite safe even without a roll, unless u wanna go to the track.
Im doing a little tuck this weekend, especially since i just saw the little rub

Roszko 01-14-2011 01:34 PM

I've been wondering how the AD08s would do with a stretch... I know they have a heavy shoulder so it might not work too well but still, I'd love that kind of grip on my car. So you have 235/40/18s on what, 8? 8.5? I'd need to fit at least (because of larger shoulder/dimensions) a 225/40/18 on my 9.5s. Maybe just go a little lower with 225/35.

You have the tire, you have first-hang knowledge, what do you think Pablo?

super_pablo_ 01-14-2011 02:51 PM

I think the shoulder on these is definitely heavy, Im not sure how they would stretch on a wider rim. Im currently on 18x8.5 +45 offset wheels.
I do think these could be pulled off on a 9" rim EASILY since they arent stretch at all on my 8.5... not sure about the 9.5 though.
Ill take some better pics this weekend and post more closeup pics if that helps.

tigermack 01-14-2011 05:21 PM

You rub with that height/wheel gap?!

super_pablo_ 01-14-2011 05:27 PM

pics are a bit deceiving... the car isnt really that high, ask any of the AZ guys. Its not slammed, but its decently lowered IMO.
it runs normal, like I said, i pushed it really hard (kinda did some slalom on an empty wide street and threw the car back and forth to see if i would rub cause im going to the track in two weeks and i dont wanna shatter the tires.
I barely rubbed, there isnt any scrapes on the tires, but theres some marks from the fender touching it.

to illustrate my point to rozsco, i took a few extra pics trying to show how much room I have with those tires to stretch to a 9" wide rim. Its up to u to decide if you can pull it off in a 9.5"

I like the red one from S:N better, but these two are solid. Worth a gander. This red MS3 is overdone IMO, but the black MS6 is clean as funk.
