Neverlift 02-25-2013 06:06 PM

El Toro is across the street from me. However, I need a clutch, diff mounts, and a none smoky k04. Not to mention the concrete runway you guys run on would kill a set of tires.

I'm not making excuses, I just don't see it happening. But I do appreciate the call out and challenge.

My focus this year is rallyx, and getting the ball rolling on some rally events next year in a AW11 MR2. If I were in the financial situation I was before I purchased this failboat MS6, it would be prepped for the Street Class (400whp) @ eXtremespeed AWD Time Trails... but such is life. Maybe next year on that too.

justint5387 02-25-2013 06:15 PM

El Toro isn't too hard on tires and we running around in 2nd gear anyways.

Oh btw, Ford ST test drives champion (should have that on your signature). That course you did is a terrible example of an autox...

Neverlift 02-25-2013 06:22 PM

I know, it was just funny to see. Haltech asked me to come along and put down a proper lap time so we could say MSF had driven an ST faster and harder than anyone. So I obliged. He was the one recording that video. That's only time I have ever done an autocross, and the hardcore competitors there were not pleased to hear it was my first time. I think the loose (pebbles) surface definitely played into my hand.

If I can get a car, I will be there, but the MS6 is barely road worthy right now. Burns a quart of oil <100miles. The PP has slipped ever since I put in the new engine w/ the new oem disk, and now the diff mounts have completely shit the bed.

justint5387 02-25-2013 08:57 PM

If you never done a real autocross, you shouldn't bash autocross.

How do you know what it is about? Just cause you read about it on the internet? You live next to one of the best autocross site in the country... Maybe after all your lame excuses are fixed, bring your car out there, get your ass whopped, then you will know what it's about...

LOL glad I didn't have to say it. Though I've come across competitors who run wider in front to offset weight bias. Tire compound only goes so far...

Car control @ 40-60mph is not something I need practice with. You might, but I find no thrill in tossing a car around a flat parking lot. I like consequences, elevation changes, mid corner bumps, and things that resemble an actual challenge. :3some:

justint5387 02-26-2013 01:51 PM

Lol, you keep stating the same thing and you never been to an autox.... Your car control at 40-60mph may not be as good as you keep implying. All I see is straightlining thru esses on your mountain road videos in a MSM in middle of 3rd and 4th gear at no more than 70mph.

Have you even done a track event? I go to track days too, just because they are higher speed, doesn't make it more challenging. 90% of the tracks mostly consits of just sweepers and esses, going thru them at 90mph-100mph is much easier than going thru transitions at 50-60mph.

Maybe if you went to an autocross, you would know.

Neverlift 02-26-2013 02:16 PM

Well, that video is almost 2 years ago and about 6 months into owning the MSM. Long before I owned the NA I kept on 195/50 all seasons and ran only downhill and finally learned proper braking (no ABS). But yeah, cornering @ 60-65 and hitting 80 on the straights. Pretty decent for mostly single lane action despite the camera angle making it look more aggressive.

Like I said before, rally is where I would like to go. Tossing a car through multiple turn sections is definitely more ideal than that of a track or autox.

5 days into owning the MS6. Sorry I don't have the triple digit in the dirt run from later that day... Hamilton accidently deleted it.

Outside my buddies shop just foolin' around with entries...

im not sure if you saw his sig where it says he has the Semi Pro driver mod...you may want to back off the lateral G specialist. i also remember one of the autocross guys running 275s up front. pics of that would be awesome!

Neverlift 02-26-2013 02:22 PM

The sig is a joke. Silva told me to put it in there since its my best mod.

justint5387 02-26-2013 02:31 PM

Should change it ST Focus champ

Just got some infiniti g35 reps from Oewheelsllc.com

18x9 +45 with a 1/4 spacer

Repainting them silver and polishing the lips, still not done. I'm keeping my 225/45/18's till they wear out then going 245/40.

The dampers, bushings, and brakes are all going to need to be upgraded before you attempt to take advantage of a proper tire on a road course.

Can you do it, sure. Is it ideal, not exactly.

Which bushings are you referring to? I'm not trolling; I'm modding my suspension (and eyeing a set of 245/40/18's) and am genuinely curious...

Neverlift 03-06-2013 05:13 PM

Control arm & trailing arm bushings.

You shut your God damn mouth lol. I know this it goes to the point of saying something is cheap or "faggot" like when I'm actuality it's further from the truth. I was being sarcastic.

Haha. The way I look at it is I decreased the weight and increased the width of my wheels from stock, so that's a huge plus. The fact that its from another car bothers me not at all. That being said, don't you run stock wheels on your Evo?

3Gee Tee 03-07-2013 12:12 PM

Meh, my X wheels have Mazda center caps on them, lol.
