I'm sorry, I thought I just read something fucking stupid.

Could you please refresh?

this is not rwd car. This is fwd car. So you put bigass rims on the back, btw, 10" wide wims=265 or 275 series width=not gonna fuckin fit.
AWD doesn't do staggered either.

And it's not like you'll be fooling people on the road, either.

handling will go fuckin weird, etc.

just do it. it'll be sick but idk about the rear fenders of a MS6 but i would need to run a lot of camber like shavi status for them hahaha and thats not flaring the fenders.

you realize this is the aggressive offset thread right?

obviously gusto doesnt care about the performance with a 10" wheel in the back. Its not like he's posting this in an autox section haha

Chimmike 08-14-2011 03:13 PM

aggressive offset is one thing. Fucking staggered wheels on a FWD car (and by staggered I mean bigger in back than in front) is ricer and retarded. There's nothing aggressive about that.

If he wants to have aggressive offset, go wider in the front than in the back, because the front matters more.

Roszko 08-15-2011 02:32 AM

I don't know about you guys, but I'm not going to lose sleep over some staggered wheels. Let's keep the stances aggressive and not the posts.

Oh, and Gusto - do it.

ZoomByU 08-15-2011 05:36 AM

why are people who dont agree with very aggressive fitment coming into this thread to bag on people? you dont see me going into the "400+ FWHP on stock bottom" thread and telling them they are fucking stupid and gonna throw a rod.....to each their own. its not like hes spending YOUR money, who cares!!!!

Learn to read, or at least learn definitions, kid.

It's not aggressive fitment. It's not even aggressive. It's the equivalent of putting bigass tires in the back and skinnies on the front, on a fwd car.

The only person who'll think it looks cool is the OP. Everyone on the road will think it looks dumb, ESPECIALLY people who mod or know the first thing about cars and know the ms3 is fwd. So, he'll make a nice stereotype of mazda owners in the process "mazda owners are retarded, there's a guy near me with staggered wheels on his ms3, bigger in the front than the back!"

If you want to do the aggressive stagger, get a different car. Or just buy a civic, because they're the only cars who would do something like this and think it's cool.

Thats because the stock block can hold 400+ just fine jackass. it also serves a purpose performance wise. Staggering the way retardo rice boy wants to do serves no purpose other than to play Fast and Furious. Who the fuck let you people onto this technical, performance focused site anyway?

Spirry 08-15-2011 09:12 AM

To each their own.

This thread is about as useful as a Motec exhaust...

So....I've officially read every page of this post to see if anybody is running a 18x9.5 wheel and what suspension they are running. I really want to pull the trigger on a set of Rota p45r's in the sport bronze on my TR 1st gen. I only saw 2 guys with 9.5's and they are running full coilovers. Will this set up work on just lowering springs with fender roll? spacers? Any input is appreciated.

lax22pearl 08-16-2011 11:40 PM

yeah but you will be mexiflush like a mofo and imo look pretty dumb not flush with a lot of camber... if you dont want it to poke much and on drop springs stick with an 8.5

goob_os101 08-17-2011 07:44 AM

Test fitted a set of 5Zigen FN01RC Titanium 18x8.5 +48mm last night. I am on stock suspension and the wheel was very close to the strut
I am assuming that I will need to run a 3mm-5mm spacer up front to be safe. I am also looking to run 235/40/18s. I should be ok with this setup? The wheels are pretty sick looking.

http://i105.photobucket.com/albums/m...s_110126_2.jpg

Roszko 08-17-2011 09:12 AM

sick wheels, but I don't think you'll need to run spacers. I'm on 9.5 +38 in the front and a 3mm spacer does it for me

Chimmike 08-17-2011 09:15 AM

uh, looks like your rears stick out a bit. looks goofy ^

tigermack 08-17-2011 11:56 AM

Only Replacing 2 Tires? - Discount Tire

this is reffering to replacing only 2 tires on a vehicle, but it still proves you want more/better traction in the rear of a vehicle

wider tires in the rear= more gripping force = same scenerio as link posted

thats for bitches that dont know how to drive. 90% of american cars are FWD because its much easier to recover from under steer then over.

real drivers know how to correct for slippage.....

If wider tires always equaled more gripping force you might be right, but it doesn't, so you aren't. :)

Also, the above is really only applicable to the safety of a vehicle, not overall handling prowess. ;)

rain and snow you have worse traction with wide tires

if you want it to look right, spend the money and go with coilovers. that way you can adjust front camber and id suggest buying some camber arms for the rear. otherwise itd look silly because you would poke like crazy. i wanted the p45rs. i wouldnt go with the 8.5 because they arent concave like the 9.5 and up. so they look silly.

SLOWHATCH 08-21-2011 11:59 AM

So how is it that some of you guys are running 8.5 wide wheels with 35mm offsets and don't poke out nearly as much as these wheels I tried on yesterday?

http://www.mazdaspeedforums.org/foru...-offset-89403/

Sorry but I couldn't upload the pics here since they are already on my thread.

TurboDreams 08-21-2011 12:20 PM

take one of the "http://" out of your link and it should work.

camber will help with the poke. also a less meaty tire will make the poke less noticeable.

just my opinion, but i think you should pass on those wheels, they dont look right on the car

Damn, I didn't notice I did that. I was thinking if I could get them to fit I would get them PC'd and they would look better. But yeah i'm starting to feel the same way.

ZoomByU 08-22-2011 07:36 AM

definately not a fn of the wheel style on the car, or period. ummm i agree with the guys on the posts going with rx8s for the oem look. if youre going to buy aftermarket wheels, get something you absolutely love from the get go. not something that you THINK looks ok or MIGHT look good. also do your research. im running the 18x9.5 et38(35front) and it was my first set of aggressive wheels and took me a while to get dialed in properly with no help from anyone around me. if you want, shoot me a pm with what youre going for and i have a pretty good calculator to let you know how itll sit. another thing to consider is, are you planning on lowering the car? if so, springs or coilovers? coilovers give you more options. worth the money imo.

Thanks man, I appreciate all the feedback. Personally I like the wheels. But didn't think it through as much as I should have. I saw them, I had the $$ so, I got them. No big deal. I'm sure someone will want them, more than likely on another forum.

I Just wanted to try a different wheel that is wider than stock. ATM I'm going for more powah and not really concerned too much with suspension. Or wheels even, but I think I got a good deal on these with a great chance of making some profit. We'll see.

Stock is holding up just fine for me and no real plans to lower the car. Unless I get CO's.

i bought my rx-8s for 75 bucks with worn out tires. no joke lol. with what you just said there...i wouldnt even bother with wheels for a while. your stockers will do just fine given the right set of rubber. put your money into power mods. if you want wider wheels id keep an eye out for evoX wheels.

I ended up ordering TSW Nurburgring 18x8.5 with a 45mm offset in matte bronze. Going to get the wheels on and see how much drop I want then I'll decide on springs/coilovers.

I still have to adjust the rear camber positive a couple degrees and drop it another 1/2" or so, but not too bad.

Hey man you got pics? I been torn between these wheels and some XXR's, its just xxr fitments are shit, im a noob to all that offset shit and figured anywhere between 18x8.5 with a 38-45 offset will be pretty flush wrapped with like 225/45/18...
I just dont know shit about wheels and tires... im hoping its a good setup, and if it will require rolling fenders

Guys would these fit?
XXR Wheels: 522 18x9.5 Chromium Black Rims

Im on stock suspension, so im assuming i would require a roll.
Would i need extended studs? What about a hubcentric ring? It says hub is 73.1 so isnt that our size?

Just want a heads up from all you fitment gurus, advice please!

I really want a concave look.

I want gold ones but they only have 18x8.5 with a 30 or 48 offset.

I feel like 18x8.5 would fit better but in this size they only have 30 and 38 offsets wtf do i do!!!!

not tryin to go staggered, idk they look weird in the first pic.
Also 215 for those sizes is way to small.

Ugh why is buyin wheels/tires so fuckin complicated.

:crucified:

TriO 09-18-2011 10:57 AM

i think the 8.5s allround would look sweet though. they are nice rims

it's just the 9.5 that looks a bit too much

jonspeed3 09-18-2011 11:02 AM

its just what is required with a +30 offset. from my understanding +38-40 is the ideal offset and would require minimal modification of fenders...

And im torn between theses and rota grids... i thought the xxr's would actually look better, but now seeing them on the car im having second thoughts lol

Depends on how low you wanna go. My buddy with the same spec wheels had to go from a 235/40 to a 225/40 cuz he was rubbing too much in the rear with his bc coils maxed out. A roll is required for sure.

245/40 wont work. Dont even try to use a tires that size when trying to use crazy offsets. Even on stock height its gonna rub hard. LOL

Tappinit.

assuming at stock height.

and +38 isn't a crazy offset. and with a flat roll really shouldn't rub at stock height.

dont take my word try it

I still have to adjust the rear camber positive a couple degrees and drop it another 1/2" or so, but not too bad.

not a big fan of the rims.. other than that, looks good

Also, Im living in Grove City PA and I was at the outlet the other day and I saw (what at first appeared to be) a speed6! I was so excited, and a CHICK was driving it of all things. I was parking and I made my presence clear and I was confused why she was ignoring me. Anyhow, I get out and she starts to drive away and whatwhat!? It's an automatic... and wieeerd it is missing its exhaust tips. Turns out this chick bot the lip spoiler off a speed6 and rebadged her car as a "MazdaSpeed 6"

so lame... thats the 2nd time Ive seen a mazdaspeed fake badge wannabebb

I just dont know shit about wheels and tires... im hoping its a good setup, and if it will require rolling fenders

They FINALLY came in. TSW Nurburgring in bronze 18x8.5 et 45. still on stock height for now. Sorry about the shitty pic. As soon as it's done raining I will go out and take some pictures of the fitment.

Not bad, do you know what other offsets they have? I want something a bit more flush closer to 38-42 offset. Also they would look a ton better if they were wider so it gave it a lil bit more concave look.

ZoomByU 09-22-2011 10:11 PM

go 9 or 9.5 wide :D

They have a bunch of different options for offset. I posted more pics of it in a different thread. they are almost perfectly flush. I didn't want to go any wider without having suspension first.

Have fun if those are the ones you want. I had to wait 5 weeks to get them.

lax22pearl 09-26-2011 09:41 PM

Roszko 10-01-2011 09:17 PM

Nothing new with the suspension/wheels, but I recently installed CNT Catless TBE, PTP CDFP Internals and a TIP. Then topped it all off with a badass street tune by SSP in Houston. I went for a drive today with my friend Branko and his Evo X. Here's some shots I took...

We didn't race, but he'd win. AWD + 26psi + double clutch + fully bolted + tune = Winner.
We drove pretty damn fast and he said he was like 80-90% throttle keeping up with me, so it would be pretty close, but definitely not off a line. I'll race him next time. Today was more like a, "Let's go drive fast and go WEEEEEEEEEE" kinda day

@Roszko

What is your wheel width/offset if you don't mind me asking. Also, do you know what your camber specifications are?

Thanks,

Josh
