Rotalla F105 update? Joined the forum to follow up with MATT DAMOND regarding his original review of the Rotalla F105's. However, since the forum won't let newbies resurrect old threads (not a bad idea actually...lol) I guess I'll have to settle for a link, a quote and a question http://www.mazdaspeedforums.org/foru...05s-ftw-28241/ Quote:
Been thinking about picking up a set for my Turbo S Beetle and this is pretty much the ONLY in depth review I could find......any thoughts after the fact? Anyone else ever give them a try? The original review sounds promising, would be nice if there was more info available on these...the price is certainly right...... |
Owww nice, I actually almost picked up a turbo S beetle instead of my MS6... Only so I could lol at ppl when I pass them in a bug. Anyway, the tires were pretty good. I've since sold my car, and the wheels on which the ties were mounted. The owner of my set of wheels has already replaced them, I cannot remember his form name on here. They were a great DD summer tire for the money. They preform well under braking in the wet, but not in the corners. I could slide the car around quite a bit with them when I ran the dragon in the wet. Also, I tried them out last winter, in the loads of snow we go in Chicago. Thanks to the MS6's AWD the car could take off no problem. However, the tires are summer tires and they sucked in the white stuff, very poor braking and cornering. They were'n half bad off road though. If you plan on using your beetle for any track duty, I'd get sometihng more focused for that... I really like the Nitto Nt05's for that. If I needed a cheap tire for DDing summer duties, I'd possibly run the china tires again. |
Perfect, that's exactly what I wanted to know....thanks for the quick response. The Beetle is a DD, so track days are pretty much out of the picture for now....can't really afford to break a bunch of shit and end up walking... :D Plus the Turbo S suspension (while sporting) is not really tuned towards all out handling....more spirited cruising. Definitely softer than my UrS6 with sport springs...... I think I'm going to give them a shot as you make a good point about the DD summer duties.....I actually had a set of Achilles ATR's on the car with the Aristo wheels (another cheap China summer tire, they were on the car when I bought it) and I was impressed with how good they were, especially in the rain. I sold the boat anchor Aristo's and plan on installing a set of Porsche twists this spring, but I am trying to keep things a little cheaper as the wheels and adaptors took up a big chunk of the budget.... Thanks again, Jeff PS: the look on people's faces when they get dusted by a beetle is priceless ;) Almost as good as when the "old man sedan" does it........ |
