RX-8 Wheels on MS3

Tomorrow I'm going to go pick up a set of OEM RX-8 wheels for my MS3. They are somewhat curb rashed, but I plan to get them powdercoated either a flat black, satin black, or maybe a sort of charcoal color. Anyway I also need to get tires for these wheels and I really like the BF Goodrich g-force kdw. If I'm correct, will 225/40ZR18 do the trick? I prefer a somewhat low profile, but not ridiculously low. In case someone doesn't know, the wheels are 18x8 with a 50 offset. Will I have any clearance issues if I do a drop?

no

225/40/18 is more popular with the MZ3 crowd. Most people go with 235/40/18 or 225/45/18 for the MS3. I'm currently running the latter and no issues with rubbing with stock suspension.

225/40/18's work well with RX-8 wheels, you'll get better performance from 40series vs. 45.

so 235/40 won't have any problems at all?? cause i would love to get wider tires, but not if its gonna have issues

i have 245/40r18's up front and 215/45/18's in the back i rub on full lock left or right, but not bad.

also i'm lowered on h&r's

i'll go out and take a better picture if you want me to

235/40/18. That's what you want. You won't have to worry about rubbing regardless of manufacturer and it's a couple of steps up from stock.

what drop can I do without rubbing/needing to roll fenders

08BLKMS3 06-14-2009 10:27 PM

You can do a COBB drop and run 235/40/18 without rubbing

SLS MS3 06-15-2009 12:50 PM

You can't do any drop on 235/40's without rubbing. I rubbed in the back with 225/40's on Cobb springs, and rubbed bad in the back with 235/40's on Cobb springs.

Sway bars will help you.

I ran 235/40/18 RT615's on powdercoated RX8's lowered on Cobb springs and F/R sways...no rub, even on a track/autoX.

Was that supposed to be directed at me? Check my sig, I have sways. Rolling my fenders got rid of the rubbing.

It must vary between cars.

oops...saw the bottom of your sig and thoguht all the Cobb stuff was there w/o sways...since you have sways and HAD Cobb springs, I wonder how you rubbed?

On my new setup @ 18x8.5 w/ 45mm offset, and I now get the occasional rub in the rear...I think my shocks are going tho and that's why.
