RX8 wheels and 235/40-18?

Looking at the above combo for our '08 MS3. The tire size calculator says there shouldn't be any clearance issues--just wanted to see if real world experience bears that out? The car is at stock ride height.
BTW--the wheels are 18 x 8, 50mm offset
Thanks for the help!

I've had my RX-8s with 235/40/18 Hankook V12s since mid-February. Absolutely no rubbing thus far. However, I haven't had anyone sit in the back nor have I had a heavy load in the car yet.

i would do a roll just in case. depending on the tire you choose, they dont all run exactly the same size. dunlops tend to run a bit fat, hankooks may not.

as long as you don't upgrade your rear camber links, you should be just fine. that said, you should be ready to roll the fender if things just don't happen to work out...:D

I hate the idea of possible rusting in the rear after fenders are rolled.

i run 235 40 18 on rx8's with cobb springs for 20k plus miles, never rubbed.

the tires are Falken 452's

the only time i got them to rub was when i wasnt paying attention to the road hit a speed hump (the stretched out speed bumps) at 40, yes i got some air time....

Southernbychoice 04-21-2010 02:19 PM

Thanks guys. The tires are Hankook V12's--so it sounds like we'll be ok for now. I appreciate your input!

Does Cobb require you to trim the rear bump stops at all?

2007speed3 04-22-2010 04:55 PM

^^^
it was not in their directions.

i have over 35k with the cobb springs alone and no issues. all i have to say is that your shocks struts will blow out. My car rides like a Oregon trail wagon, the shocks and struts dont go over night but over time the car will ride shittier and shittier.

The reason I ask is that I'd like to run 235/40's on my H&R SPC's. I plan to do a mild roll on the rear but I run camber arms as well. Any major scrape marks on your Hankooks?

Southernbychoice 04-26-2010 03:31 AM

Got the wheels/tires mounted this weekend--several hundred miles and no rubbing:fing02:
I'll still get the fenders rolled just in case--thanks to all y'all for your input!

Sacrilicious 04-26-2010 07:02 AM

if it looks like the car is going to be ok, i wouldn't worry about needlessly rolling the fenders. if you do, you might have to worry about messing them up by accident...that and why spend the money for something you don't need? ;)

Very true. I think it would be pointless--especially since we don't intend to drop the car. I'll just put the rolling $ toward some FSD's!

ZoomByU 04-27-2010 12:32 PM

if you dont intend droppin, dont roll. ive had this setup for about 15k miles and i drive fast over bumps n dips and have not scraped or bottomed out the tires. running sumitomo HTRZIII btw.

RepeaterDroid 07-05-2010 01:24 AM

it's fine...but i think your rear might rub under load
