Tires MS3 Hello, Im looking to buy some tires. as you guys know the MS3, well at least mine doesnt hook up in 1st or 2nd gear. Im guessing because i need new tires. Hopefully you guys can give me some feed back on some tires that you know can help me out with my problem. I was looking at the bridgestone RE760 sport. Let me know what you think. thanks Brandon |
Im looking to buy some Nitto NT05s real soon. Hear they sick pretty good. |
215 45 R18 those are dope but they dont make my size |
Oh sorry, Im getting the 235/40/18. Also looked at the INVO, my 2nd choice. Those come in 225/45/18. Think thats good for MS3s..... |
I've got Pirelli Pzero Nero All Seasons and they grip like a champ but depending on where you are you may be able to run some better traction summer tires year round. |
|
It depends what you are doing with the car. What are your tire needs? |
I need them not to spin so much like they do. I'm in So cal so its barely rains and im in snow rarely. when i launch i spin my tires in the first 2 gears and it really kills me when im racing around. so my main concern is traction in my lowers gears. I can get the Hancooks ventus for 130 a peice. Am I LOOKING FOR A LOWER TREAD WEAR?? GIVE ME SOME FEED BACK tHANKS |
I used the Ventus V12's for a bit on my MS3, they're pretty good. Bit flexy sidewall, but overall grip was similar to the RE050A's, much quieter, and a damn good deal. |
225/45R18?? should i go up or stay stock? |
There's not much you can do with the stock wheels, as they are so narrow. Your best bet is to get wider wheels so you can run wider tires properly. I used to have 18x8.5 +38 wheels with 245/40-18 Yokohama Advan A13c tires. Those tires were mighty sticky, plus I had 60mm more rubber making contact with the road. Tire spin was greatly reduced. I couldn't even chirp 2nd. Now on the stock size, and lesser tires, I light 2nd up. You need more rubber on the road. Stock MS3's spin 1st and 2nd too easily. |
Well unfortunately i dont have that kind of money and i just powdercoated them lol so there here to stay at least for a little it. ill go wider that 215 so hopefully itll help. too many fucking tires to choose from. should i look for less treadwear or more? |
More treadwear is a generally stickier tire. |
ventus rs3s are really sick - forget about the v12s, etc. ventus rs3 > star specs, and that's saying a lot |

Tire compound is the most important variable. If you want more grip, you find the best compound for it. From there, you decide on tread (depending on weather you'll be driving on), then width/size depending further on what you want to do with your tires. Of course, your budget ultimately determines all of the above. If you don't mind spending a little extra, Dunlop's Z1 Star Specs are one of the best summer tires you can buy in that price range. Their dry grip is nearly equal to the top contenders and they do very well in the wet. Their major downside, however, is treadlife. You'll go through them quick if you brake and corner hard. |
star specs! |

yup, The potenzas have a treadwear of 140! You would think they would stick better. BLAH. Cant wait to try out the NT05s..... |
here are some reviews of the ventus rs-3 TireRack.com Tire Reviews the fact that instructors were surprised they weren't r-comps speaks volumes |
The potenza 050A came on mine. I want the Re760. Treadwear 360 AA/A. Im trying to stay away from China made tires. |

? Lower your tire pressure in the front and bump up the rear at the track. |
