any of those setups would be cool. if you saw my car at the nator pa meet last week. i have 18x8.5 +33 in the rear and +35 in front. i think 245s would be fine on both the 8.5 setups. not too familiar with the 9" wheel.

help!! I fitted my new private akzents that are 18x8 +46offset and they wouldn't clear the front brake calipers so my question is what size spacer I'd need? i know the stock offset is 50 something so would a 10mm spacer be enough or will I need something more like a 25mm?

So the spokes are actually rubbing the face of the caliper?

Yeah the spokes are right up against it so I'm assuming I'd need the 25mm spacer but just wanted a second opinion.

I say about a 10mm spacer would be enough. what you should do is hold the wheel up to the point where it clears and measure the gap between the rotor/wheel. You will need extended studs as well if you need more than 5mm

Jesus, even some washers on the studs just to move it away from the hub.

or just run hubcentric spacers. i dont understand how that offset and width is rubbing against the brakes. thats almost the same as an rx8 wheel.

if that is the correct offset, that wheel should be fine. +46 sticks out more, so should be easier to fit.

I thought they would fit easily because they are just like rx8 rims but I didn't take the lip of the rim into account which is about 2inches. Anyway ordered the 10mm hub centric spacers Friday.

Pretty sure that you will need longer studs with those spacers.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I believe 10mm is where the line is drawn.

I couldn't find really any other ones that were the right size, and h and r doesn't make them in 10mm for the mazdaspeed3/3.

i think thats because you would have to cut the current studs. they are something like 18mm long.

Thinking of going:
255/40/r17
on 17x8 +35

Will I need to roll fenders being dropped 1-1.3" on a 1st gen ms3?

Anyone have pics they could post of a ms6 with 18x8 +35 offset with 235-40-18 tires and lowered suspension. I currently have stock suspension running this size wheel but with a 225-45-18 tire and it rubs like hell. ( I know wrong size tire but got for next to nothing with the wheels ).

I am getting the fenders rolled as much as possible this weekend so that should help and soon will be going with 235-40-18 tires but need to know if it will still rub when I lower it. thanks.

Having a 12 second Honda is just like coming out of the closet; You're going to surprise a bunch of people, but in the end you're still gay.

This was in the op. Its +33, but for all intent and purpose, its close enough.
Youll need a good roll for sure.

would a 225/40 be good to run on them or would that be a bit of a stretch with 225s.

There's no reason you cant do that, but I would use 235/40 or 245/40 just for the sake of keeping the overall diameter as close to stock as possible.

You might see a tiny bit of stretch with 225s depending on what manufacturer you go with (actual section width varies from brand to brand) but it wouldn't be much. Most likely just super flush with the lip of the wheel.

Two part question:
I am looking at 18x8 with 45+offset on stock suspension. I am going to throw the stock Dunlop 225/40s on them .

I am pretty sure I wont have issues rubbing or using the stock tires on this setup bust wanted to be sure.

Also, recently picked up set of used Motegi 16's white wheels 16x7 with 42+ offset already checked them, they have adequate clearance around the front calipers.

Just wanted to make sure I will be good with no rubbing on this set up as well,
and what tire specs i should look for 215/55, 205/55, 215/60, 205/60?

Thanks , glad i made the move from mazda3forums.com to here, much better speed knowledgebase

Just installed h&r springs with koni yellows on my car. Running 18x8.5 +45 wrapped in 235/40/10 Nitto NT555. Rubs when turning hard. *Fixed the clunking sound.

Pics of the car

(With 5mm spacers on the rear)

(Please don't mind the jdm angel pic. I didn't take it)

Did you tighten the shocks down all the way? And is the thumping noise coming from the back or front?

If you can get 215x45 or 40 and you might be good, tire shops say that it's in safe but my girl friends brother has 205x45 on 8.5" wide rims and drifts the fuck out of his z3 and nothing has happened this is his car you can kinda see how stretched the tires are

I'm on vacation and sorry I'm not a big help

It's all good.

The sound was coming from the back. I did some more reading and found out that koni yellows on the rear needed to be tightened a bit more than the factory torque spec. The sound is gone now.

I thought about going switching tires but I honestly don't want stretch less than 225 on a 8.5 inch width rim.

No fitment issues at all - that's my MPS but just recently sold them CE28 replicas. Friend has them now getting powder coated. On stock shocks with road magnet springs at that time

Tell me about it. I'm checking fitment threads as I want to get on the rota grid 18x9.5 wagon so really want to be sure as no one around me has this setup for me to test fit to be 100%
