Unbalanced wheels or tires?

I have a pair of ASA ARI wheels that came with my car. They are the same exact size as stock and a little beat up. Rather than fucking up my stockers, I put a set of Michelin winter tires on there and used them for my winter setup.

Even beat up, the wheels look much better than the stockers. Problem is I had them balanced three times with new winter tires and they still have minor vibrations above 65 mph.

After two weeks Im already getting sick of the stock wheel and tire combo and wondering if I can do anything with the ASAs.

The imbalance can only be three things. Unbalanced wheel, unbalanced tires, or retarded staff at Tire Warehouse.

I was thinking about getting them powdercoated or painting them ( can get them sandblasted for free ) and putting on some V12s 225/45.

Is there a way to find out if the wheels are somehow fucked up? Idk if it is worth it to fix them... and Idk if it can even be done.

Advice?

well since the tire is on the wheel if they were balance they would be balancing both at the same time, unless the rim is bent, can't balance that out. do you have hub rings or is the hub bore the stock size?

Hub bore is the stock size. I guess there is no real way of visually telling its bent. I looked at them with no tires and they looked fine but who knows.

If you feel vibration only above 65 mph then it is maybe the tires. Have you tried to rotate them and see if the vibration changed (get worst or better)?

Make sure the wheels are dynamically balanced. If the wheels are bent, or if the tires have flat sports, they cannot balance out.

Try another tire place to see if they can balance them.

If the vibration is between 65-75mph and definitely not outside 60-80mph then it is a tire uniformity issue. Solved with new tires, this can't be balanced out.

I don't really know if there is a way to tell if the wheels are messed up by themselves unless you can get a tire place to spin just the rim on the balancing machine but even then that doesn't really help - wheels and tires are usually matched up to help balance out bad spots on each.

No vibration at all with the stockers?

If you have vibrations (or noise) also at low speed it is more likely imbalance

Get a Road Force balance done. Are you sure the balancing place is doing it right? Some places only balance rims without lips by placing weights in the center, which is not a good way to do it. Happened to a few buddies of mine. They should still be able to do inner and outer balance, but are either lazy or don't know how. It's quite possible your tires are bad also. Go with the Road Force balance.
