Washer-seat Lug Nuts

Anyone know of any companies that make quality lug nuts with conical washers at the base that aren't $250+ for a set?

Like this:

Sorry Mizzle, need some clarification (for aftermarket fitment...correct?), but I think that
Evasivemotorsports.com has many of the popular lug brands.

One other to check out is dropengineering.

That color is called neo chrome (if you were having a hard time finding it).

EDIT: Mcgard makes rotating seat lugs for $100.

Either/or. I'm just tired of fucking up the paint on the rim seat only to find aluminum oxide the next year.

I just wanna know who makes'em other than Project Kics-brand... b/c they're rape-me-in-the-ear expensive.

neo chrome.

Check Evasivemotorsports, or even Amazon.com

Search "open ended lugs".

Muteki
Dropengineering
Gorilla
Blox etc.

EDIT: Do those have a rotating seat?

@Mizzle, you want a rotating seat, don't you.

lol yes... hence the "washer-seat" title lol.

I actually would rather have capped lugs to prevent corrosion.

Those are pretty sexy. McGard has great stuff.

This is for next year so there's no rush, but I am curious as to who else makes them.

So McGard is a non-rapey version. Any others?

(I heard bad stuff about gorilla and muteki with corrosion so not too interested in those either way)

I have had the same set of mcguard since 2002. They will be going on my speed 6 in the spring with my summer tires. This will be the 3rd car I have used them on. The best $60 or $70 I ever spent. They are the splined ones with the one special key for each wheel type.

With the rotating seat?

darkcherry 12-22-2011 07:36 PM

Yea, the only thing you need to do now and again is dab a little oil on the washer so it does not freeze up. The locking lug nut is the only one that does not have the washer.

I took a closer look at that part number.
Those don't have a rotating seat. They have a zinc plating for better torque readings.

Looks like I'll be saving up for Kics in a couple years lol

havent looked into it much, but they say two piece on that link:

"-Unique two piece design which helps protect wheel finishes and provide even torque for the lugs"

Compared to socket style lug nuts, our lug nuts have 26% more seating surface. Zinc plating on the cone seating surface enhances torque tension characteristics. SplineDrive Lug Nuts are the safest tuner lug nuts on the market.
The only "two pieces," I see are the lugs and the key. McGard doesn't list anything on their site for a washer-seat. :-/

remember that if you do end up with something like that (although the nuts will come with torque specs) reduce the torque used on zinc plated nuts by 15%.

Mizzle 12-26-2011 01:09 PM

splain?

socks 12-26-2011 02:28 PM

zinc coating on bolts is similar to oiling a bolt. less torque on the bolt will equate to more clamping force, because there is less resistance.

similar to oiling a bolt, you get more uniform torquing.

here is a source:
BOLTS AND TORQUE SPECS

I've always heard it gave a more accurate reading.
Now it appears there's dry and wet specifications for torque.
This is all gay.

read title as "washer eating lug nuts"

time to lay off the nog and rum

These are the ones that I have had for years that are from mcguard.

I actually just got a set of mcgards with the red cap. they are the splinedrive set, no locks. they do have the rotating washer.

Now what I really want to find is a 1/2" or 3/8" spline socket so I can get the full torque from my makita 18v impact wrench. it works, I just need to minimize the vibration between the spline adapter and the 21mm socket.
