What Not to Do - Over Inflated Tires Maybe this might have to be posted in the new members section? but i figured it's involving tires and wheels. I purchase my shoes @ http://tirerack.com and get them delivered to my doorstep and then mounted and balanced by the locals...until this happened.... So here's the size tire we all own on stock MS6 rims [MS3 as well???] http://lh5.ggpht.com/_1EBOK6vhvCo/SB...7638857989.jpg :nono:WHAT NOT TO DO? - OVER INFLATE THE THE TIRE:nono: http://lh4.ggpht.com/_1EBOK6vhvCo/SB...6695737989.jpg :eek13:....this is the result of driving on them for 2weeks not noticing the PSI was at 52 F@!#ING POUNDS......the door on the side panel says [38lbspsi] YES i feel like a :smirk:retard:smirk: for not checking the workmanship of the wonderful employees mounting and balancing the tires in the Lehigh Acres FL Tire Kingdom I tried calling them out on this and they said there was nothing they could do since it was so long after and i lost the reciept!! :yikes: ....so....boys and girls...check your air pressure on your tires on a weekly / monthly basis :) and if you do go and get your beautiful new shoes put on be sure the person installing them knows how to spell his own name :261: I have since then still purchase my tires from TireRack.com and now go to a friend of mine that balances them at his store ;)...and yes he knows what he's doing lol |
Hey, at least it didn't blow. |

If this place uses computers, I'd have them check. Usually they can run a VIN or check your name and bring up past repairs... I guess if they are kinda sketchy and dont have computers, then you're SOL... This is a ridiculous amount of wear! |
Sorry, but it's not only psi doing it as the whole tire is at or beyond the wear bars. If your alignment is fine, the only thing left is abuse. |
Damn Bro, Did you do a 2 week long donut??? :yikes: That seems impossible wear for only 2 weeks, or 2 months. Not doubting your word, but something just aint right.. |
To the OP, places that install tires intentionally over-inflate the tires when they are first mounted. It helps to create a better seal between the tire and wheel. Its up to you to check them for proper inflation. |
well what I have seen is they might need to take it up to 50-60 psi so the tire will pop in place or watever, but then they bring the psi back down...either way..yeah shitty. i dont go to tire kingdom |
while the message is a good one, to always check things like this, there is absolutely no way that was even close to two weeks. and if it was done in two weeks, or a month, or anything remotely close to that time frame, you are an incredibly abusive driver. that entire picture is a slight to moderately overinflated tire that has seen an incredible amount of burnouts/tire spinning. i'm willing to bet alot of cash that the rears don't look anything like those. |
they likely look somewhat similar because his car is AWD. on a side note... ill fess up to a mistake also... i put my coilovers and balljoints on a few weeks ago and neglected the alignment. cost me two front tires. negative cambers galore. |

awd burnouts it is! haha... |
2 Attachment(s) Here is a pic of my stock Potenza's with 20700 miles of 50psi. I live at 5300 feet so consider that 45psi for sea level folks. As you see the tread is perfectly flat and worn even across the tire. Something else happened here. |

i needed 2 new tires. all 4 of mine (at the time) were falkens, BUT they were slightly smaller rubber-to-wheel well when i came across a good deal on the tires shown in the pictures above i was quick to just get them slapped on my car. little did i not even think that i would be riding like this: O----o the little 'o' illustrated above were the falkens, and the big 'O' were the new kumhos. they were slightly larger therefore the car was riding with more rubber in the back. so i was driving around a 4WD car with different sized tires..[STUPID] but i was broke :\ the difference in size you ask??? i can't remember at all lol. but i now distinctively remember my 4WD light indicator turning on after driving for approx 20min somewhere. NOTE: IF THE 4WD LIGHT TURNS ON THE 4WD SHUTS OFF AND THE CAR BECOMES A 2WD CAR!! i tested this theory by stopping the car and taking off real fast and i was spinning ONLY my two front tires. to reset i just turned the car off and then back on and the light was gone. i guess it's safe to say that i fucked up this thread :nono: muh bad. i left out that "minor" detail. rofl...HOWEVER......still........how the fuck does it get that bald...?! oh well my lesson has been learned about psi, correctly sized tires, and DO IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME!:tapedshut:----blah |
