I really don't care for the VW look.

sumthaiguy 12-05-2009 07:13 AM

and you are entitled to your opinion.

i am a fan of good wheel fitment so right now my goals are stance/hellaflush oriented and my future mods will reflect that. havent seen a nice stanced out mazda3 or speed3 so im trying to be different from the usual crowd of 3's.

Exactly the same thing I've been doing with my speed 6. Props to you, hellaflush is sick.

DaleNixon 12-05-2009 07:29 AM

I can't wait to see all 4 wheels on the car. To each his own, but I like to see people doing something different.

lidokrantz 12-05-2009 07:36 AM

215 tire on a 9.5" rim????or even a 8.5"rim....i have the stockers on my 8" rim and they are toooo thin IMO . You need some beef on those wide ass rims with wider tires...Indeed, to each his own on looks, and what anybody else thinks does not matter...but for what it's worth your car looks ghetto and out of balance...i am not a fan of tires sticking out so much from the fenders...but again what do i no...i am going 235x40x18 soon...IMO you should go 245x40x18.

Blackspeed 12-05-2009 08:02 AM

215's on a 9.5 rim will probably handle like shit.. what was the point of this?

2007speed3 12-05-2009 08:10 AM

I am a huge fan of that stretched look. They look awesome, sweet setup.

the wheels hes got on their run wide so i think he said the 215 is more like a 225

man their lookin amazing, like them better then the 17s. you have any new decisions on the coils? (im the kid that talked to you on 247 about stance coils)

martyxattack 12-05-2009 10:15 AM

i have 245s on 9's and people dont think thats enough tire. and you havent looked around enough if you think your the first person to think about wide wheels and offsets. also stop saying hellaflush.

lidokrantz 12-05-2009 10:48 AM

no expert, but in my experience putting a thin tire on a wide rim some will have issues with tires needing to be inflated to correct tire pressure more often..generally to thin a tire on a wide rim looses pressure faster than a correct sized tire/rim combo. Secondly, with no sidewall protection from the tire being to thin there is no rim protection from the tire and curb rash is very easy to achieve, ask my son about this.LOL...we fixed ours. But as mentioned looks are all subjective, and you must do what you feel is right.

Buildabong 12-05-2009 11:00 AM

Mike so if I get 2 rpf1's 17x9.5 +35 it will look good? Plus I think our cars have the same drop 2" right?

Dash08 12-05-2009 11:52 AM

Is that a RWD MS3?? Wow.

well every tire brand and tire model are different. if you go to each brand's website and look on the specs of each tire you will see a "section width" and a "tread width". that is what tells you which tires run big, which tires run small, and which tires run true to size. also side wall strength is a factor. your tires seem thin is because the stockers have a harder sidewall thus making is hard to stretch.

the Federal 595ss, run bigger than a normal tire would. that means my 215 fits like a 225. lol if i had gotten a 215 in say a falken ziex 512 which run small, the stretch would have been waaaaaay more than this.

well i didnt do this expecting it to handle better. its for looks. in my experience, theres no point in going fast on the street. so might as well make the car look good while im going slow.

the point of it.... hmmm.... its just a style thing. go check out wrongfitmentcrew.com, stanceworks.com, HELLAFLUSH? X OFFSET KINGS., vipstylecars.com out.

yea i remember you. haha thanks! yea it fits WAAY better than the 17's.

as for coilovers, umm havent heard a word from Stance so yea.... lol. imma just keep waiting. BC's are doing fine right now so its keeping me content.

haha yea i went into it knowing the risk of curb rash. i actually have a modest stretch compared to all the other guys that are stretching tires. a LOT of them are soo stretched they are showing barrel between the tire and rim.

as for tire inflation, yea i have to keep it at around 40 psi. but for me, nothing has lost air due to tire fitment before.

and yes everything im doing is very subjective.

well it depends what youre gonna use them for. if its for racing then the camber that you need to tuck these, wont be there and itll look mexiflush (too much poke). BUT it will be functional. if its for looks and you need to stretch and slam on them with some camber. you could take out some stretched and replace it with camber but youre going to need to run a LOT of camber.

if you dont stretch them then i dont know if itll fit/look right. i had to roll my fenders, pulling it the smallest bit. BUT if done properly, it will look SICK.

o fuuuuuuu i just saw that you said 17's. 17's will make it harder to look good. havent seen a setup low enough for 17's yet. this was my setup when i had 17's. but i did have a skinny tire. with this setup i still had like 2 finger gap. but the chassis was FKN LOW. i scraped belly on a lot of things. almost got stuck a couple time.

Didn't you want yours more performance oriented though?? How are the dpts (or is it dtp) holding up

Also what's wrong with saying hellaflush? That's what he wants the flush and low

did u get the front wheels on yet?

well fuck it lol i'll go 18's in the back then ahahahah

sumthaiguy 12-06-2009 07:06 PM

lol. so youre getting another set of rpf1's?

naw i havent gotten the fronts on yet. might be like a week. the guy i use to mount my tires for SUPER cheap is having a baby and is on vacation this week. and plus i still need to buy the other tires lol. funds are a little low right now.

there are but not too many... we need moaaar!

cant wait to see these with the fronts on

sumthaiguy 12-07-2009 05:30 AM

lol yea woops i didnt realize what i put. i should rephrase myself. there are some but not many! and keys got it right. WE NEEED MOARR!!!

KeysMS3 12-07-2009 07:21 AM

hopefully ill be able to join at somepoint..probably wont go to wide though just low and flush

speedtown 12-07-2009 05:55 PM

I think the 18's are going to look a lot better, those 17's just seem so damn small for your car. though I like the 17's actual style of rim better than the 18's.

sumthaiguy 12-07-2009 07:07 PM

^agreed on the 17's.

yea i LOVED my last set of wheels. its just the fitment wasnt quite right. that rim was SUUUPER rare in my size and offset. 18's are even harder to find. ive only seen 1 set of that wheel in 18's. it looked pretty sweet. but i also love my new wheels. the fitment is there and i think it looks good and its pretty unique which is what im going for.

boardjnky4 12-07-2009 07:23 PM

so stupid

stretched tires is NOT good fitment...nothing wrong with a wide setup, but you are losing functionality, big time

martyxattack 12-07-2009 07:40 PM

^that. and to answer the question stop saying hellaflush because im tired of hearing it. its such a stupid "it" word. i just dont understand this. why didnt you buy a regular 3 if you want an undriveable car. im all for it. looks great really. but why did you waste the money on the speed variant.

undriveable car? hellaflush is the way to be. my tires are streached with 9wide and it drove fine, and grabbed traction like no other

Underground 12-09-2009 04:22 AM

I dont understand why people complain about other peoples ideas/opinions. I mean if you dont like something, go to a different thread. Its that simple. If I know I dont like mudflaps, i dont go into a "Just installed my rallyarmour flaps!! Pics inside!!" thread and start flaming the OP. To each his own.

More on topic, how do you like your tires? Planning on getting some new wheels/tires and saw these fed 595 were pretty cheap (less than $100) and from what ive searched on google, they got pretty good reviews from everyone

superskaterxes 12-09-2009 07:59 AM

actually a streched tire will perform pretty good because you have zero sidewall rollover and on 215's you still have a decent contact patch. i dig the stance look big time and im glad to see you do something different. if you dont understand what stance is, you never will.

p.s.

i did not buy the wide setup for performance. and in my opinion, it is good wheel fitment. and forgive me. i forgot to put the disclaimer that i put on my other threads on the other forums on here.

*disclaimer*: what you are about to see is not intended nor setup for track/auto-x. it is more geared towards the Stanced/Hellaflush look.

and there you go.

lol wow so ignorant....

1)i only say hellaflush because no one knows what im saying when i say stanced. everyone knows what hellaflush means. or at least they have an idea of it.

2) your stupid lol. i didnt walk into the dealer saying hmm i want to buy a car so i can slap wide wheels and stretched tire on it. i bought the car wanting to go fast. i used to be a little street racer. my goal was to make this car into a highway beast. but i got in some close calls that deterred me from running the car on the street. and the times that i went to the track, i broke stuff. too much money and too many problems for me to handle right now.

3) if you dont like people saying hellaflush then dont come in a thread with stance content and bash on it. its pointless and it brings down the community. im taking the car in a direction that i havent seen much of and id like to see more. which explains my contribution. maybe it will encourage others to follow suit. and i dont come into your stupid fake ass ugly rota thread and tell you to GTFO with you fake wheels do i? lol i feel sorry for you car. nga did a ghetto ass fender roll with a jack handle XD. please do the mazda community a favor. if youre gonna do something please do it right. rent a roller. the ms3 is too nice of a car to do ghetto honda civic shit to it.

my goals for the car has changed. focusing on the looks of the car and since im a fan of the HELLAFLUSHHH movement, i decided to try it on my car.

as for the Federal 595ss, they actually surpassed my expectations. they ride great not that much noticeable noise. drove them in rain and sleet and it held well. no complaints about the performance of them. i think they have a 240 treadwear but i also heard that they wear well. and plus its cheap!

Buildabong 12-15-2009 09:57 AM

where did u find them in 40 offset? i got 45... 17x9

HellaFlush = HellaCool
Stretched tire = HellaGay

Might as well put some 13x9 Daytons Wires and full hydros. Welcome to 1989 all over again. Handling sucks ass, believe me, I know. I used to run stretched way back...

KeysMS3 - lol sorry but, hey, look at it this way. the money is going to be spent anyways! might as well use it towards something fun and of desire. there are good things for sale for cheap out there! you just gotta find it lol. again sorry if i fed the fire hahaha. loooks really good though!

ETERNAL 12-22-2009 12:29 AM

I LOVE IT.
Its not for everyone, but that is kind of the point. Only thing I would like to see is the front end lowered a bit more and then it would be sick!!!

its your car bud do whatever you want, you can't impress everyone!

sumthaiguy 12-22-2009 04:02 AM

haha yea thanks guys. i know i cant expect everyone to like it but i like it and thats all that matters.

the BC's are all the way down WITH perches taken out. so its as low as its going to go with all BC equipment. BUT ive been talking to this guy about some replacement springs sooo. next plan is to buy some shorter, stiffer springs to replace the bc ones. itll be super slammed possibly the lowest ms3 evarrr. its going at least an inch lower all around. lol i want to achieve the chassis height when i was on the 17's w/ rubberband tires but on the 18's. scrapping belly everywhere and getting stuck on speed bumps lol.

Strytnyne 12-22-2009 05:01 AM

lol dang 215s on 9.5 i had 225 on a 9 and it was hella uncomfortable to see my lip exposed like that

madvillain 12-22-2009 08:05 PM

as i said before, looks AWESOME man. Id never pick those wheels out in a million years if i were to see them by themselves, but they actually look great on the car. definitely makes me want to go get some new wheeeeelz... i dont want to spend the money right now though. im waiting for the new PF01's to come out and about..

looks good man, love to see diff wheels instead of the 3-4 wheels everyone goes with i had the tenzo r type m black with red lip, bought the car in dec of 2007 and bought them right after then that blew up so sold the wheels been running the stockers sense, now looking at another set of wheels (haven't seen them on any 3 or speed3) so looking like i might be buying them................once again good job bro

paradigmshift 12-27-2009 12:28 PM

I think it looks great!

sumthaiguy 12-27-2009 09:37 PM

strtnyne - the tires might be 215's but they fit wide. more like a 225. and im extra careful when things are around my lips of the wheels. accidentally curbed my last wheels. it wasnt even that bad. it was like an inch of light curb but i was still super angry about it.

thanks again madvillain!

Fagwagon - lol i would say its barely a rub. only slightly rubs on big bumps. and on hard transfers of weight.

Joeylow - exactly my point! i was tired of seeing the same old wheels on every single dang ms3. not everyone might like my car but at least its unique. boo to the monotony of wheel choices on ms3's. lol care to leak what kind of wheels youre looking at?

ispypsi 12-27-2009 10:52 PM

The stance on it isn't bad, at least it's not chulo pokin'. I never liked those wheels, well I don't like tri-spoke wheels in general. But it's moderately nice.

I ran a stance setup on my 240sx. The stretched tires are definitely NOT a performance enhancement, to whomever said they get good grip. Stretching tires is only functional in the "it will fit" perspective. Most of the drifter guys liked stretched tires because you can break traction alot easier, since there is essentially no 'bubble/balloon' effect in the tire, esp if you run a higher air pressure. Was surely nice for sliding, but not a grip setup.

Anywho, it looks good and there will always be some haters. I came up with the term fitmint, because I always associated hellaflush with those trendy kids from CA who thought they were ahead of the curve all the time.

I do like that 3 up there with the 9" wide +40 RPF1s.

black-speed3-gt 12-27-2009 11:37 PM

shit gay as fuck get a mans tire on there bro so you can get some traction i should post pic of my ride looks 10 times better

Let me give everyone a preview of you're dope whip
it is stock suspension and or stock painted wheels or rotas same phail anyway you look at it
Stock block soon to be fully bolted but for now just a blow-off valve and intake.
Maybe a shifter type r status. More to come

LOL i wanna see this badass ride! must be the nicest car in the US. XD what a turd...

thanks for the compliments guys! yea its not too poke. at least not mexi-poke. and its DEF. not for performance. and yes drifters use it because its easier to loose traction.

jdmjerry 01-06-2010 02:55 PM

agreed... seems like alot of speed owners just paint parts and paint stock wheels need more people to buck up cash and effort to get slammed speeds cause they look awesome.. i also understand some just dont like real low cars and or track theres which is cool to

Archangel 01-13-2010 08:01 PM

well, let me start by saying that i def. give you props for going in a different direction than most people with your speed. Now... 215 on a 9.5 inch wheel in my personal and professional opinion (Manager for Discount Tire) is stupid. The first time you hit some dip in the road or a patch of repaved ashphalt, wheels are bent. Heaven forbid you hit a pothole on a stretched tire like that on that wheel, not only do you have a tire that will break the bead and go flat, but you may also have a crack in your wheel, because there's not enough sidewall to protect it. As long as you're aware of said conditions, and you still decide that's what you want to do, then props. I think you're an idiot, but props...

don't own a VDub, nor will I. Not my cup of tea.... Seems everybody has their opinion, I gave mine and that's what it is.

stormtrooper3 01-26-2010 11:26 AM

i dont know what is wrong with some of the people in the mazda3/speed 3 community, people always have to hate. Little do they realize they are behind the time. Id love to see black-speed3-gt's ride.
Lets see it fool!!! Lets see those awesome sunken battle ships your rocking! I bet your car looks like a damn hover craft. Stop hating, especially on something that actually looks different than every other stock looking speed 3 with removed side moldings and painted badges. People like sumthaiguy are pushing the limits of fitment on our cars and making this community more interesting and making our cars more in line with the fitment in EVERY OTHER CAR COMMUNITY!!! Sorry u cant afford to have nice fitment! If u cant respect it then GTFO! Go lurk around and make douche-bag comments in the highest offset possible wheel threads.

ZoomZoom_ms6 01-27-2010 12:45 PM

Problem is, this (your post) isn't an opinion. You are posting as if an expert of the matter. People run stretched all the time, my wifes ride is slightly stretched and we have by far the worse roads anywhere. And she couldn't avoid a pot hole if there was a sign saying there is a pothole ahead. And hundreds of people on forums run insane stretches and the issues you speak just do not happen often at all.
Opinion is, I don't like the look.

dealerjohn1 02-15-2010 01:46 PM

CeeeJay did you have to roll your fenders at all to run that rim/tire setup and also are you rubbing at all? I have always loved the rpf1's and im thinking about doing the exact setup when I get the funds

06spped6 02-15-2010 01:53 PM

I kinda like the look but how much of a ride dif did you notice stretching the tire that much was it rough?

Fronts were not necessary to roll but I did do the rears.

peez 02-15-2010 03:14 PM

I wish I could do this to my car :( That mazda 6 with the evo x wheels gives me a woody.

dealerjohn1 02-16-2010 01:48 PM

thanks man

silversurfer3 02-20-2010 08:31 PM

lol well first off, since youre a manger at DT, you should know that federals run 1 size wider than true to size. so it fits like a 225. still not to spec but wider than 215. and even though you work at discount, i doubt you have the experience to know what it takes to run a stretched tire and the consequences of it because discount never pushes any kind of limits at all. the only way you could get that experience is first hand, by actually going stretched and driving on it. tons of people in my city run stretched. hell they drift on stretched. and the rate of failure is slim. it takes a hell of a stretch and a stupid mechanic that doesnt put enough pressure in it to break beads. i know what it takes and the possible consequences of doing so. people have been stretching for a long time. and theres a safe way to do it. im not saying there arent consequences but there are precautions. im just saying that its not as dangerous as people put it out to be. you gotta keep your pressures up and pay attention to your driving. i know what im doing and plus mine is only a moderate stretch so im confident that ill run out of tread before something happens.

the ride is almost the same from what i noticed. a little rougher due to higher psi and increased sidewall rigidity. its the same amount of contact from the tire as a regular setup.

Caldazar 03-07-2010 10:11 AM

first of all, the ONLY thing I would have done differently is not stretch the rubber so much, but thats just personal. Other than that, looks great man!! Clean, nice, etc.

And don't apologise for the photography. That all looks great. Maybe let the dude in the minivan pass by before you snap the shutter, but other than that, really nice. Excellent composition on some, and good/really good on others, nice exposure, cool location, nice lighting. Some magazine quality shots there.

To the OP, Car looks aggressive with those wheels and offset.
