http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b3...tassmazda3.jpg

im wondering if i can run a 18x10rim on my speed6

superskaterxes 12-31-2008 03:54 PM

DEF not u would have to have a NASTY roll AND fender pull to even come close to that. i havent heard of anything more then 8.5

bf360 12-31-2008 04:08 PM

18 x9 all around with a +30 is the widest, and the required a ton of work

m4tic 12-31-2008 04:52 PM

haha staggered wheels on fwd....

babcockxmx 12-31-2008 06:15 PM

madvillian is running 18x9 rota gforce not sure the off set. looks pretty good. id only go 8.5 tho

What is the point of running stag wheels on FWD?

I think 18x7.5 is the best size. They are wider. You can run 225 or 235 easy. Plus you keep the good old steering response.

wisniaPl 01-01-2009 11:37 AM

best size i wil go next is 18x8.5 48 offset flush as fuck
btw gusto what offset you had on those wheels ???

Laloosh 01-01-2009 01:29 PM

im running 17x9 all around and don't rub

Buildabong 01-01-2009 02:29 PM

17x9 also but rubbed like crazy rolled the rear fenders now I'm good. Got a 1.5" drop in the back and 1.7" in the front with no rub =) 45mm offset ftw!

What size tire are you running?

Buildabong 01-01-2009 08:33 PM

235/45....
i want some 235/40's next

Okay im confused. Im running 225/40/18s on the stockers which i have been told are 18x7s. I thought they were 18x7.5s but whatever. If im running 225s surely you can run 235s on 18x8s or even 18x7.5s. Why are people running 17x9s and not running anywider tires? Doesnt that defeat the purpose?

idk the minimum i would put on a 9 inch is 245 to 255

Demi 01-02-2009 11:15 AM

Well i ask because if the stockers are indeed 18x7 then 18.75 should hold some 235s fine, which really opens up some rim options. I have only heard of one person running 245 i think.

I have 18x8.5 +45 with 245/40s (MS6).... rolled in the rear and I'm ok enough with it.

At least 1 guy got 18x9 +45 to work (MS6), but he only had 235s on there

You guys must not be that low than. i pulled and rolled my fenders and with 18x8 et 48 225/45/18 i was screwed. new tires fixed it :) 225/40/18

i just couldnt see the setups you guys are talking about fitting with anything but the mildest of drops.

ms6 has more room than the ms3 and the ms3 has more room than the 3 i think

any chance u can get under the car & get a snap shot of the space between the tire & the inner most rubbing point...

IE:: something like these piks...

tryin got figure out what is the absolute widest i can do on my MS6... every1 is saying 18x9 - but i think i might be able to squeeze a 18x10 in the rear... @ least... heh

mdogg 01-04-2009 09:04 PM

I have .5" drop springs from RPM

Monstar 01-05-2009 01:40 PM

I run 18x8.5's +35 offset on my ms6. Koni's and sportlines. extreme roll in rear, no work in front. Sorry for the dirty car :(

demand for pics

Monstar 01-06-2009 06:57 PM

Yeah, I got some. I will get some clean ones here soon. I just adjusted the suspension again tonight, and did alot of work with the camber. I will get some new pics tomorrow if is is nice. Thanks for the props. I don't think I will be, but I would like to me the first MS6 in 18x10's. It will not be an easy road...I know this. Offset, and width calculation are scribbled everywhere at work (wheel/tire shop). Took awhile to even get these to fit the way they do. Most +35's look like poo, I aligned and adjusted the sus 3-4 times, and 3 sets of tires later I think it looks ok. The pics above are already out dated..... Rear camber has been brought back in by .45 degrees rear. Now at -3.0.

mpsgarage 01-06-2009 11:33 PM

When the wife returns form work if there's good light. I'll take a few and post them up.

please list what tire you are running with your wheel size- it will be a lot more helpful since different companies tires have varying widths for each size (e.g. dunlop's 235 may be wider than falken's 235). so you might not rub with a falken but will rub with a dunlop.

I'm getting a hold of some 32 offset 18x10s, and will be testing them. I will get pics of my awesome rubbage. They are not my 1st choice of wheels, but they will help me find the right fitment. Also ordered in some 18x9.5s in a +37. Not for me, customer, but gonna see how they fit as well.

:: Gusto :: 01-11-2009 01:22 PM

we are talking about 18x10's ... on a MS6.... not 18x8 on a ms3....

-- the reason your rubbing is your front offset... should have been something smaller... like a 45-38mm... not the tire size...

+ your suspension is too soft.. go w/ a stiffer rate spring.. i ran a 18x9/18x8 set up on my 3 all day long... dropped on Eibach's.. w/ some mazdaspeed sways had no issues... ... & i live in the NorthEast where the roads Suck...

always do measurements 1st ... do your research... if it dont fit its on u....

I had a set of staggered Porsche wheels on my GTI and while looking dope drove like shit when set with the skinny's up front and the fatties out back. when I had them switched around it handled great but looked like shit... I could actually get the rear end to step out at will! I'll look for a pic.

aaronc7 01-29-2009 08:00 AM

i am going to try 245/40 on 18x8 +50 wheels, I'll let you know all know how it goes in the next couple weekend when I get them

Monstar 01-30-2009 06:24 AM

So far no luck, but still waiting on some other wheels. I had an epic fail on our "new" corgi A2024, so I got a new machine coming. Boo. 255s will fit 8.5's...but it needs 9.5-10 to look good. They fit all the way around, but stick out with my offset more than the wheel lip does...so no go. I will get the higher offset/wider wheels soon enough and get some new pics. sorry for the delay. But I did have 255/35/18s on the 6 last night...but just on my 8.5s.

hmm.... 255/35/18 on 8.5 wheels.... sounds tasty
what offset were those wheels? +35?
camber settings F/R?
how much are the sportlines lowered? 1.5?

I really appreciate the effort you're putting in on this to reach your goal - and it sounds like you have the means to try different setups much more easily than the rest of us! Hopefully we can find the maximums! :boobies:

Monstar 02-04-2009 08:27 PM

Yes, 18x8.5 with +35offset. the 255s were TIGHT. I am running -1.6 front and -2.8 rear.
I am going to try 10inch with a 38offset and hope that gives enough room in the rear, but what I am fearing is that I am going to have to run a staggered offset front and back to achieve the look I want. So....10 in the front with 255 with a +35/37 and rear I have no clue yet....

please tell me u arent thinking of running a 18x10 in a reverse staggered set up... as in widest up front...

u should be able to fit the 18x10 all thaa way around.. but yoru deff going to have to run 2 diff offsets... thats just the way it has to be done...

Monstar 02-09-2009 08:52 AM

No no no.....18x10 front and back. slightly diff offset on the rear, not width. Duh.
Also...got my promo from Bridgestone last friday. They are allowing me 4 sets of tire per year at 25% LESS than my COST from wholesale. Werd..... RE-01R.

Still nothing guys, sorry...I kept the 8.5's and am changing tires today, but no 10s yet. Still looking for a the right offset. 245s on 8.5 is giving me a nice tight shoulder, no more stretched look for the 6....till I get the 10's. I was gonna say F it, and order the 9.5s, but I don't want to hate them and have to sell another set of wheels and tires. I will just wait. I will get the pics up of the 245/40s on the 8.5s (35 offset).

thanks for pointing out.. something i already noted...

heh

-----------

they need bigger tires 1st off.... the are 35 series...

+ i dont really like the way they look on the car...

sea6speed 04-03-2009 08:47 PM

Those are 245/35's on both the 8" and 9"?

Damn, look at those lips. If they were on a woman...

:: Gusto :: 04-06-2009 06:45 PM

heh.. no 245 on the 9" :: 215 on the 8"

RhoadBlock 05-13-2009 07:54 PM

I want to go with 19x9.5 (maybe even a bit wider) on my MS6. Is there any way to make it work??? Gusto, Monstar, what offset do you think would be needed? I'd need them to work for daily driving most importantly. But I also want to have that set up and slam the car at shows with the coilovers.

P.S. - did anyone ever find out the offset to MPSGARAGE's 19x9's?

:: Gusto :: 05-21-2009 07:08 PM

9.5 will deff fit in the rear... its goin to be hard to shove them in the front...

u live in FL.. so it should be easy for the 19s...

its been a while since ive done the measurements on the wheels.. but im thinkin u should be able to stick a 50-55mm in the rear w/ a 9.5-10 wide rim...

there is a series of calculations u can do .. to know exactly.. if u really want to know. i can post them for u.. then u will know the largest u can really go w/

although im going to boston for the weekend.. so ull have to give me alil bit to psot them...
============================

i should really try that staggered set up on my car.. now that i dropped it.. on mazdaspeed springs...

its hard to find NICE 18x10 that arent a fortune... esp.. if i want to get a motorcycle too.. heh

RhoadBlock 05-21-2009 09:06 PM

Tru, yeah those measurements would be cool. No rush man, it's gonna be a while before the wheels are actually purchased. How far would 9.5's or 10's stick out tho? I really don't wanna go past flush. After I saw inside the wheel well, idk if flush can be accomplished with 19x9.5's.

Monstar 06-29-2009 03:45 PM

sorry guys, ended up moving to Phoenix!!! Just got back to Missouri to finish up with work, then back to AZ in Aug. I will get some updates when I get back to my new house. Ended up buying a wrx wagon and dumping some money into it...gotta wait to get the new wheels on the speed6. When I get some more info, I will post back. I did get ahold of some 18x9 +30 wheels, and they didn't look very flush, more of that "hella flush but not really, kinda stick out" Look. Didn't like em. Keep you posted.

.. take into consideration.. that the tire size was perfect for the 3.. but way way to small for the 6.. obviously... & yes i know my car needs a drop...

u can see here that its rubbing.. on just the test fit... deff needs a roll.n.pull

http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b3...6/SSPX2241.jpg
245.35.18 : 18x9 in rear : 3" lip

****

i kno i kno.. my rear tire was on the wrong for tire rotation.. but like i said.. it was ONLY a test fit.. to get an idea of rubbing, tire size, & if it needed a roll.n.pull
** the front deff needs a larger tire for sure... that 215.35.18 is jsut too too small.. looked great on the 3.. looks like a roller skate wheel onthe 6...heh ****

===

if ur going 9" wide.. u should stick w/ a 45 or higher offset...
my 18x9 45mm offset.. is nearly flush.. but a 50mm offset would prob have been perfect...
----

trust me.. man.. i look @ wheels n study the specs .. like its porn.. heh .. its kinda sad.. heh

sumthaiguy 12-05-2009 07:03 AM

Front: 18x8.5 +35 (before spacer to clear hub. probably will end up at 28 offset)
Rear: 18x9.5 +35 effectively

i dont have the fronts on because i havent got the tires for them yet. had a blow out and needed tires to run on so i just went ahead and mounted what i did have instead of waiting for all 4. getting front tires pretty soon. so dont hate on that lol.

LOL YEEESSSS I DID!!!! hahaha is your motor done yet? i wanna ride in the BEAST.

corbs 12-05-2009 12:31 PM

yall need to sell ur cars and buy dubs. ur ruining the look of a speed. now groan that

sumthaiguy 12-05-2009 01:37 PM

lol you need to get with the times. the "vdub" fitment is and has been contagious. a lot of people are doing the wheel fitment thing with their cars that arent vdubs. a lot subarus, vip cars, nissans, drifters, mazdas etc... and its spreading.

im just a fan of wheel fitment.

dbrier 12-05-2009 04:24 PM

I'm a fan of wide tires, not wheels.
I run 245/40/18 Hankook V12 tires on RX8 wheels(18X8 +50) in the summer and
245/45/17 Bridgestone RE960AS tires on modded STi wheels (17X8 +53) wheels in the winter.

You don't scrub at all with the 245/40/18 tires on the RX8 wheels?

DaAznKnight 01-20-2010 11:23 PM

Hey guys,

I'm looking for new wheels for use on the track. Had a couple of old Enkei RPF1s on the RX-8 that don't fit the MS6, so I'll prolly sell those and get RPF1s again.

I want the widest god damned tires you can fit on the MS6. So that means the widest wheels too.

What are the specs of the widest wheel possible on the MS6?

Monstar 01-26-2010 10:46 AM

Lots of WIN....Needs a little more -Camber. No, not my car, Im still on the same 18x8.5s...

Nope.
All I've done is roll the rear fenders. I've autocrossed it with that setup with no problem.
