Will these fit?

Looking at a set of Rota SVN's, 18x8.5 with an offset of 45mm. Are these going to fit on stock suspension without rubbing with let's say a 235x40 tire?

is a 235 what ppl are using on 8.5? im using that on my 8's. not sure if the wider wheel would make a difference but im running the same tire size on my stock suspension and never had one problem. i have the rx8 wheels btw.

I think a 235 is the min for a 8.5" wheel.

yea i was wanting to get some 8.5s and if i did so id go with a 245. might as well take the time to have them rolled for some bigger ones. no need to waste bigger wheels with small tires.

madvillain 09-14-2009 04:32 PM

yeah 235's would work on an 8.5, but like you said it would sort of be wasteful.

I still need to know if the size and offset will work together to fit under the fender with the right tire size.

ZoomByU 09-14-2009 06:22 PM

it "should" as long as you go 235. but from what i understand is that all tires arent exactly "235" some may be wider or smaller. i have sumitomos. i think nittos run larger than advertised.

madvillain 09-14-2009 07:56 PM

i apologize. yeah they will fit, you may need to do a bit of rolling to your rear fender to prevent any rubbing, but not much.

Kumho SPT's run pretty wide too. When I had my SRT lowered on BC's by about 1.75" I could run 245/40/17 Toyo Proxes T1R's no problem, but as soon as I switched to 245/40/17 Kumho SPT's, I started rubbing really bad. Too bad, because I really liked the SPT's, but I don't know if they'd be a good choice to try on that wheel.

Thanks. I looked at an offset calculator and it only adds .4 inches to the inside and 1 inch to the outside, so I think with a 235 I'll be okay. If I rub, I'll bring it to a tuning shop nearby that does rolling.

ZoomByU 09-16-2009 08:40 PM

how much would it be with a 245?

PANDAnic17 09-17-2009 05:12 PM

i would go with 235's with that wheels specs. i have the same wheel but mines is 48et and i did some minor rear fender rolling and cutting just not to rub... i have yoko's sig series thou and im dropped with H&R's Ssprings. idk maybe if you get the more rounded edge tire you may not have to do some cutting but for sure you need some rolling to do. here some pix of mine...

and plus your 45 et? oh boy....i believe your going to rub even with stock suspension. i suggest roll your rear fenders first just to be sure and may be there is not cutting need to be done if you choose to stay stock suspension.
