Will These Wheels fit?

BBS RGR 17x 8.5
Offset: 55mmBackspacing: 7.00"Bolt Pattern: 5-114
Weight: 18.0lbs.

They are a little heavy but they look amazing. I am worried about the offset though. Also looking at SSR Type C-RS, Enkei RPF-01s, OZ
Alleggerita HLT and Enkei RS-M all in 17x8.

SgtP 06-21-2009 09:03 PM

Ill add pics for you homos to look at. BBS wheels look the best but are so much money. Im leaning towards the OZ wheels. All wheels except the BBS are under 16 lbs for a 17x8.

VOLK CE28NF FTW -> under 15lbs. for the 18x7.5

In reality you'll never notice the couple extra pounds of the BBS's.

I'm pretty sure I've seen wider/less offset on an MS3 before. My 7.5" wide rims are only 43 offset so the extra width and higher offset just about cancel each other out, meaning they would fit a 6.

SgtP 06-21-2009 10:45 PM

yea i like those volks also but i can only find people with the white ones in stock

yea they will feet easily. i have fitted lower offset wheels no problem. 17x8.5 +30's.

and as far as finding the time attacks in stock, where is this? i want.

SgtP 06-22-2009 10:44 AM

tire rack has them right now but just the white with red lip. i think i might suck it up and get the BBS wheels. They look the best by far but they are special order... I dont want to wait.

Trader 06-23-2009 12:06 AM

Like the oz 17x8

SgtP 06-23-2009 06:42 AM

the OZ are my second choice. Today im calling tirerack to see if they can give me an estimate on how long the special orders take. I really want those BBS wheels.

dbrier 06-23-2009 06:59 AM

The RS-M is probably the best bang for the buck in your group.

I have a spare set of BBS RX 17x8 wheels that I used to have on my old bimmer, I'd be stoked if they would actually fit on my speed 3, I just assumed they would not. Anyone know what numbers on the wheel I need to look at to make sure they'd be cool? Didnt see anything about bolt spacing but I think they're 38 offset I was just planning on selling them but if I could still use them it would be even better, I really like the way they look.

SgtP 06-23-2009 09:59 AM

17x8 with 38mm off set should fit no problem I think. I would throw some nice 235/40/17 tires on them and rockem!

dbrier 06-23-2009 10:35 AM

You need a bolt pattern of 5X114 and center bore of at least 67.1 mm.
The +38 offset will really limit the tires you can run and you might rub.

Couldn't find anywhere on the wheel where it said what the bolt pattern was, maybe I could look it up on tirerack? I've had the wheels for 7 years, don't even know if they still make the exact ones.

The tires currently on them are bridgestone SO-3 pole position 215/45 17, will using wheel spacers affect the +38 offset? Not sure what that number refers to. I don't want to have to worry about rubbing...

so when stars said 17x8.5 +30's fit, youre thinking 17x8 +38 "should fit"?

SgtP 06-29-2009 10:43 AM

i bought the 17x8 OZ's. They are lighter and have a better offset than the BBS rims. I will most likely be putting Nitto NT-01 235/40/17s on them.

Trader 06-30-2009 09:29 AM

Nice I am thinking about these as well. Make sure you take pics. BTW what color is your car?

235/45/17 would be a much better sized tire. 235/40/17 will be pretty short.

Maybe for looks buy filling out the tire gap but not performance. Personaly I would get the 235/40/17's and lower it

Coilovers are next! I have heard good things about the BC coils

I might try and stuff 245/45/17s on there but I will definitely have to roll fenders for that.

Depends on what you mean by performance. The shorter tires effectively lower your gear ratios. For autocross, our gears are already pretty short.

The shorter tires will have shorter sidewalls and handle a little better and they would also lower the car just bit. They also mess up your speedometer.

SgtP 07-04-2009 10:05 PM

i think 245/45/17 will be the best but i am not sure they will fit easily.

JMEngineer 07-05-2009 11:21 AM

That's a tall tire for these cars. It would be a good idea to run through the calculations to see how much the speedometer will be off.

SgtP 07-05-2009 11:38 AM

that can be re-calibrated cant it?

JMEngineer 07-05-2009 09:20 PM

There's probably a way to do it but I don't know how. On my bike I have a separate control that hooks up inline between the speed sensor and main wiring harness that I can adjust to +/- 99.9%.

SgtP 07-05-2009 09:56 PM

with the difference in size the speedo will be reading 5% fast which isnt too bad.
