Default How To: DIY Tow (Deck Plate) $4.75 out of pocket

Started yest., finished today, with a lot of machine time and more time on it then I expected.

The 16mm x 150mm bolt was $4.75.

I scrounged the shop for all the rest.

The 1 1/4" elbow was usefull, from which I cut a close angle to the bumper.

That was the only pipe nipple I could find and had to bore it out.

Alum. deck plate cut and holes opened with an electrical knock-out set and impact wrench.

Bent with a break and adjusted with a hammer to flow with the bumper.

it makes what is called a tow plate. check cp-e or rho-plate.com. it basically moves your license plate out of the center of the cars bumper to the side where the tow hook goes. this helps get the plate outta airs flow way in the front of the car, but also gets rid of the holes putting the plate up there in the center adds. its also cosmetic.
