Unhappy mazda 3 fan assembly the same as mazdaspeed3

so the other day i was stuck in traffic for about 3 hours, after a while i noticed my heat start to go a little higher then normal (1 notch over center) when i finally found a open section or road i got up to about 30kmph and i smelt coolant and noticed steam (temp was now 2-3 notches over) i pulled into a gas station and got towed to my shop. after a couple days of testing the shop called me and said that my rad fan isnt coming on when it should during idling temp (217 degrees)

then then went on to tell me i needed a new rad fan assembly due to the fact that my fan wont turn on, just slowly turn when it should turn itself on which is why my coolant over heated and came out of my over flow tank

the problem is a new Mazdaspeed3 rad fan assembly is about 300$ from a wrecker, 500-600$ online and 950$ from the dealer

ive been searching around on rock auto and some other parts stores saying that a mazda3 rad fan assembly which is only 150-200$ new sill fits on a mazdaspeed3

just wondering is anyone has had experience with this problem and changed the fan with a mazda3 one instead of a mazdaspeed model l33x15025f

any help would be appreciated considering im not planning on dropping 1000-1500 on a car i bought 2 weeks ago
