COBB Access port dyno run on day of release
 

I just got back from the performance shop i get some parts from on time to time and where i pre ordered my cobbb access port from. On the day that it's released and in my hands i will be on the dyno for a BEFORE and AFTER Dyno run from just doing the access port tune. We'll be doing a couple runs before and then a couple after trying out different things tunes etc. So you guys can't count on having atleast one chart to go off of and my car is basicly stock as far as bolt on and performance parts go. I do 100 % all my own work and have been tuning and into cars for ten years now but i don't own a dyno so i'll have some help on this one. The release date is scheduled for next week the week of 4/14/08 but i'm not holding my breath on that date i'll believe it when i have it in my hands but if all goes well we'll have some dyno numbers and results next week.

I talked to COBB this week and they told me the week of the 20th now.

They might as well just say May now.

You're right about that one...
It keeps getting pushed farther and farther back. They need to just set a release date and stick to it, even if it's a little farther away. I guess this is why they havent really told the consumers anything.
How willyou be getting it the day of the release? will local speed shops who are authorized vendors have it the day of release? or will they have to wait until its shipped?

i think their tuners can just download the maps for the MS3 into the unit and sell it right on the spot.

well I sure hope so, that'd be kinda cool, but then again, I dunno, the closest one is like 60 miles away.

So there would be no benefit of picking it up somewhere local? Iwouldnt be able to get it any sooner, even if the shop is an authorized tuner/dealer?

Just asked the local cobb tuner how it works and they said that if I ordered it through cobb, and they did as well, we'd both be getting them at the same time, so I might as well pre-order through one of the guys that offer overnight shipping.

Cobb is very well known tuner. I had the AP on my 2006 wrx and it was great. The only reason they are setting a date and every time is getting pushed back is because they don't want you to go and buy anything else. You guys, iT is worth the wait. I loved the AP on my 2006 rex. It was so easy to use. Is well worth the $700 price tag. I have been reading that they will release the street tuner close to 2009. So pro tuning our cars with the ap might not happen. For now it will be the of the shelf map. I'm not saying is 100% true, But this is what i heard. Forgive me.

Shelf maps are ok if you are a standard bolt on car. That will be the majority of their business. We are the few, the proud, the horsepower whores.

Dont even bother asking Cobb for updates, its "3 weeks from the day you ask"

I will be upgrading my car in stages, as cobb releases some products. Already have the intake, plan to flash wiith stage1 plus intake, then I'll get an exhaust hopefully over the summer, or early next year, then flash with stage 2, then hopefully Ill have enough to get the FMIC, so that'll be whatever OTS they have for that. Then if the protune software is out, I'll be installing my PG turbo manifold, and maybe even some meth injection.

Well like i said i'm not holdin my breath and neither are the guys i'm getting it from. it comes pre programmed with several maps for you to choose plus you can down load more. I LOVE COBB's products they're awesome and priced great they just take forever to come. I REALLY REALLY think the only reason why it's taking so long is because of that damn r35 skyline in their shop right now. Everyone is racing to be the first company to crack the R35 skyline ECU/PCM and who is ever the first will proballty make alot of money. With the car as complex as the skyline and with japanese legendary tuners saying it's damn hard to crack nissans code for the car it's a race and i guess they're trying to be the first and everything else gets put on the back burner. stupid skyline. IF you put the skyline in race mode you automatic void your warranty ( the new skyline comes with three modes for the car i know ones street the last is race can't remember what the second one was ) so whats the damn point. When you put it into full race mode it burns something into the pcm so when you go in for serivce and they plug into your OBD port it's being said that your warranty is automayicly voided. atleast thats how it is in japan right now and i'm sure the american version will be just as strick on modding the car and warranty. We'll see i'm still keeping my fingers crossed for next week.

Do you have a dyno at your shop or where are you dynoing your car? I live in Baltimore too and I'll be getting the AP and I'm working on the PG K04 rebuild and front mount.

I have access to a dyno. not one in my shop right now. there's two places i use but only one i've dyno'd my cars on the other one i've used for friends cars but they're alot further away so i tend not to use them as much. I actually might go run up to the dyno tomorrow ( saturday ) just for shits and giggles since i have nothing better to do tomorrow.

Well, I get my annual bonus paid on the first week of June.
