Do you mean replacing the frosted lens on the low-beam projectors with a fresnel lens? If so, hit up M247. They go ape shit for that stuff. Tapadatass

I did it. I was needing to bake the lights to clean them out and re-seal (moisture inside) so i figured what the hell. Its not bad, the cutoff is definitely better than the stock lenses. The one thing I dont like is that there is a retaining clip that you need a pair of pliers to push in place to hold the bulb there. The stock bulbs are nice and screw in easily so i'm not overly looking forward to replacing the bulbs (hopefully i wont have to for a while)

Thanks for the replies guys. Yea I read a couple DIY's on the clear lenses, just wasn't too sure how difficult it would be to put everything back together (lol i've seen a couple of pics of people who screwed up, cut-off's don't look too nice), but thanks for the input! Maybe if a coup[le of people want to get the lenses too, we can all do a "clear-lenses install day" |

I switched to clear lens (evo 8 i think?) in my projectors. I did this about 4 years ago when i first got my car but with the help of a guy that was pretty good at cracking open housings. Makes a pretty huge difference and its your preference of if you want to do a washer mod for the color flicker. If you do the washer mod you have to do trial and error to find the compromise of a crisp cutoff and good color. Both projectors will be different so you might be using different number of washers. |

probably one of my favorite mods. Its literally a night and day difference. our cars come with the osram HID bulbs, which a lot of people consider to be better than phillips. the next step up for the 5000k osram bulbs will cost almost $200. the clear lenses make it look like you upped the bulb color a little without actually changing the bulbs. you already need to remove the headlight to swap the bulbs, so why not just bake and open them up. I recommend getting this stuff to seal up the headlight after youre done. OCI Butyl Rubber Glue - Accessories from The Retrofit Source Inc

2 days ago I upgraded my stock HID to 6000K, which I purchased from hidcanada.com for a great price, I do not know what brand was the blub, but my cut off it's more defined after replacing the blub... and yes I was thinking about the clear lens upgrade from TRS as well, but the thing I'm worried about it's moisture getting into the headlight housing once baked open. I've done it before to my GTI and everytime when it rains I will have moisture in it, regardless how well I've sealed the housing....anyone having problems with mositure issue after baking the housing open??? I think in a few month I'm going to get a pair of Osram Cool Blue Intense D2S and call it a day....

I've had no issues with moisture build up in the headlight and it's been about 5 months. Just take your time when you reheat and reseal the headlight. Use a pair of mechanics gloves so you can work with it when it is nice and hot. Also somewhere on here someone posted a link to a good sealant to use if you are worried about it. I bought a tube of clear silicone sealant but ended up not needing it. Sent from my DROID BIONIC using Tapatalk 2
