Thanks for the input everyone. Let me know if you want some more info on pricing. Also let me know if you have a core you would like to get rid of. Thanks,

We use a thermal dispersant on the exterior (black only) that helps pull heat out of the manifold, and a second thermal blocking coating that goes on the flange. This coating acts similar to a phenoelic and milimizes heat transfer from the head itself. Good stuff for sure. Typically we charge $90 for the coating for most 4cyl applications, but it can be more if we are talking about another platform.

No we have not seen any issues. But if the item being coated was not prepped well before hand which we do very well in house then yes I could see how some company's having issues with it holding up..

Is there going to be a GB on these soon? What kind of deal would I get if I sent you 2 unmodified mani's and only wanted 1 ported/coated one back? How much would it be to have the head port matched? Valve job? Can you leave the VCTS and provide larger flappers that are port matched? Thanks! | ||||||||

Sorry for the delay fellas, but Dyno is finally in. Both runs were done at 15 psi boost. I tried to get a 20psi before/after run in, but I'm having trouble getting spikes to go away so 15psi is what I've got to show for now. The tune is a work in progress, so don't hate on the shitty curves ![]() Red is before, blue is after, the torque lines are a little faint so you may have to zoom a bit to see 'em. The runs were done with the same hardware configuration (except the MAP im of course) and small changes to the tune. No fueling or timing changes, JUST boost control to get the boost curve as close to the same as pre-MAP im as possible. Happy to answer any questions anyone may have... I'd say I'm pretty darn happy with the gains... I'll get a 20psi run in as soon as I can.

a)did u try to run the car with just changing the IM and if so what were the numbers. b)what was the extent of the tune changes? any logs? hard to know for sure the tuning u did didnt influence the outcome at all but......looks like it breathes alot better after 4k very interested in the higher boost results kurt. good job ese

It was significantly colder for the run with the MAP IM, maybe a 25* difference which may account for some of the gains, but is by no means the only factor in the equation. Once the car gets goin the BATs are pretty consistent around 100* no matter what the temp is outside.
Bottom line is I was able to make more power at the same boost levels, but I had to change the tune to hit those boost targets. I didn't touch fueling or timing or vvt. Just boost/requested load. I'll be monitoring this thread so let me know if you have any other questions or if you'd like to see any other tests.

The dyno shows basically what it should show, the stock IM is a restriction at stock boost levels when the rpm is higher than 4k. Obviously if you are running higher than 15psi of boost the restriction will hit earlier.

At the last cars 'n coffee socks popped his hood for a family of four and the toddler started crying in fear when he saw that engine. True story.

I just wanted to say thanks again to Kurt for obtaining this information and sharing it with us! We're considering a group buy on these in the near future, would that be of interest to anyone?

If you can get it down under $500 I might consider it, a ported stock cast unit that costs more than most of our aftermarket exhaust manifolds just doesnt seem right. Im not knocking the work though, I have had several sets of heads ported and I know the costs of hand porting and your price is reasonable. I think there are quite a few people that would pony up for a full aftermarket unit that is around the same price point as a exhaust mani.

Instead of gathering up a bunch of stock IM and doing a group buy on a P&P, I think a lot of us would much rather see one built from scratch... just a thought. Even if the price is higher.

I think the ported manifold should come down in price, and like 06speed6 said, around 500 for the gb would get me interested. Then you should develop a whole new manifold for the guys that would prefer that, and im sure they would pay 800-1000 for a quality manifold, but 750 for a ported manifold is definitely too high for most, 500 for a gb and im sure you would get a large amount.
