MS3 vs KIA K5 EX GDI

On the way home saw this car, and at first had no idea wtf it was. The guy kept wanting to go, so we downshifted and from 4th gear 50mph. I gave him the jump, then by top of 4th, I was 3-4 cars ahead..by middle of 5th I was bus lengths on him.

Got home, did some research. That car has 274 hp, is boosted, and is around the same curb weight as the MS3.

TL, DR,; MS3 wastes gas on a KIA.
MS3= 1 KIA = 0

It was an optima turbo. Same engine thats in the sonata turbo. Great power output on regular gas, but lacks a little torque.

Yeah the badge was K5 EX T-GDI. He was bone stock with a sound system banging loud lol.
So, stock + heavy subwoofers = fail. It makes sense how much I walked him by. I've got a few bolt-ons + a good tune from phate.

I believe this have the same engine as my friend's sonata. Those things ride pretty smooth and solid. Pretty nice commute car.

The boost comes in so nice and smooth even with intake and turboback.

Those motors are definitely over rated. Mom has a 13 sonata with the 2.0t GDi (274hp).

It feels much slower than my accord and no comparison to the ms3 yet it's curb weight is similar.

As far as exterior appearance the turbo looks small. But it has a turbo inlet pipe like the ms3 shoulda had, thing is huge.

Are you seriously comparing a millennia to a ms6?? 2.3 supercharged v-6, 210/200, FWD. Ok, the MS6's top speed is barely higher, but the 0-60 and the time it takes to achieve top speed are WAY lower. Besides, an intake and a tune get you FAR beyond the possible top speed of the Milly S. There was no real way to modify the millennia either. The Miller Cycle engine was a cool concept, but it left next to no room for improvement. I came from an '02 Milly S. There is NO comparison. My Speed, though not a 6, absolutely blew the doors off my Milly.

The top speed of the MS6 is 150 mph, electronically limited. Well, 149, actually. But not 145. I've personally had mine to 131.

The 01-02 were much slower then the 95-00. Not I'm not saying it's fast, because it isn't.... But with simple cat deletes(including ones on IM), Transpro shift kit, full exhaust(custom dp w/3 inch piping) I ran side by side with a bolt on supercharged Cobalt SS all the way to 135 ? 3 times in a row. Are those not roughly the same speed as MS6 ? I assumed it was a normal Cobalt, but we pulled over later.... He had boost gauges and popped the hood, therein layed a little s/c.

But yeah I had to replace the centrigul one in my Milly.... So fun.

Just because it's electronically limited to a speed does not mean it can attain that speed. My gf's Speed6 stops at 145 and doesn't budge an inch... Then again speedometers tend to be pretty optimistic at 100 mph+ speeds. In other words, they are not accurate and typically go +3-5 mph above 140. GPS indicated 141.
