MS6 vs new Camaro SS

Not too amazing of a story. But since this is literally the first time I've had a chance to run the car against something I thought was a worthy kill, I figured I'd share. Heading home from watching the new Batman with the wifey. Light turns red up ahead so I start slowing down. I see headlights coming up real quick and switch over to the open lane next to me. Low and behold, it was a very clean and new looking SS. Figured it was either a '11 or '12. I immediately tell the wifey, "this guy might want to race." Sure enough light turned green and we got going a little and both bit at the same time. I let him have a tiny lead and by the top of first I had made it even, top of second and he was at my back door and top of third he had fallen to about a car behind. I coulda kept going and putting the hurt but he know he was defeated by a mazda or something. I gave him the thumbs up as he passed.

He would've had it handed to him if I had my E tune going. This was on a OTS map with afr's bumped to 11.7.

The cars weigh almost the same and the Camaro has at least 100HP more. I am not sure how the Camaro is geared but I will say that the Camaro likely wasn't running as hard as he could.

Here is what pretty much lightened up my car for the most part. Catless dp and a 3" after that with no mufflers, just a resonator. Lighter wheels/tires and a couple things here and there. When I have the car gutted for the track, I'm almost sitting at 3100

I ran an Auto SS a few weeks back and was dead even until 80 or so, when he started to pull. I'm less modded than you, and heavier, but have elevation and thin air on my side. So I believe you.

The flanges are totally different it wouldn't work on a Speed I'm afraid unless you did a good amount of fab work. They are for sale all the time however. Cheap as well

I know you prob beat an SS. They run like 13.0 stock or something.

. Yeah, I know I would need to get my manifold reflanged, but besides that, there isn't much else needed and those turbos are pretty badass. I'm really thinking about going for it. Do you know what they go for roughly? There are a couple guys over in russia I think that have done it. If you type in td05 mps6 you should see some vids.

$200-300 is the most I'd pay. I've seen some ads with the stock mani, turbo etc for $250 like below. The Evo IX turbo is better but an VIII would still make great power especially with the extra displacement of the 2.3

It's not that far off. We're both heavy.

I know you said you lightened it, but 400 HP and 410 lb-ft TQ camaro vs 270/280 from our MS6s stock is just off.

Only reason why I havent bothered trying to race any of these guys. I feel as if my BT would only just hold them and that's it.

Given my clutch issues recently, i feel like i'd lose by a bit if it ended up slipping at the top of fourth or something.

Dude runs his mouth SO much "piece of shit mazda blah blah" but then he is never game to race. I even told him we could do it from a roll.

So I picked up a evo9 turbo for $250 shipped. It was recently rebuilt with about 2k miles on it. My buddy has cad's, tig welders and all that crap at his work and says he can build me a manifold. Oil/coolant line kit for like $60 off ebay. Should be a pretty sweet setup. Shooting for like 400hp/tq. Maybe down the road when I have a built bottom end, I will pick up a fp turbo.

It's not a waste of money in my case. $250 for turbo...$100 for misc parts or whatever, done. My buddy is building my manifold for free. If it ends up being to complicated, I will just sell it and make $100 on it.
