Revolution Performance Motorsports Revolution Performance Manufacturing (RPM) was started by three Mazda 6 enthusiasts in early 2004 under a simple premise: to develop and manufacture new products for the Mazda 6 at an affordable price. We began to realize our purpose with the short throw shifter and gas hood lifter kits for that vehicle. Since then, we have added many new aftermarket products from well-known manufacturers and continue to expand to offer products for other vehicles with the goal of having the best prices and customer service on the 'net.

I *really* appreciate you taking the time to pull the bumper and get more pictures. I'll have to think about it, but even with your modifications I still don't think this kit fits well enough to make me comfortable installing it on my car.

Sent while Stratified.

Thanks so much for taking the time to make this followup post, @aznvng!

Our brackets were designed to hold the TR6 with the inlet/outlet at the bottom (for the CX Racing piping) and the Treadstone piping wasn't designed for the TR6 or stock crash bar at all, so it's understandable that there are some fitment issues.

That said, you did a great job given the challenges.

@Mike@Stratified, let us know what you decide to do. Anything can be returned as long as it's in new, resellable condition. If it's not, we'll try to figure something out. Feel free to shoot us an email or give us a call and we'll figure out the best option.

I must have missed this point. At any rate, it seems even the people who bought the entire kit with the TR8 and crashbar are having the same issue as me with that one pipe connection. I'm going try to find out how far below the bottom crashbar bolt the TR8 inlet/outlet is and see how that compares to the TR6 configuration I had and the configuration aznvng had. I want it to work, but it has to work well; I won't leave it on the car otherwise.

Seems like treadstone used your group buy as a giant beta test for the product.... That blows. I really wanted to get the treadstone kit but looks like I will be holding off till the revised version is released.

I posted this in the other thread but not sure if everyone is looking at both, but for those that have installed the kit, do you think a 30 degree elbow coupler would fix/help the hot pipe to IC pipe connection?

I'd say it may help the hot pipe to hot pipe connection. Mine was pretty far from parallel

The fit of the treadstone bar with my old Cobb piping. Not bad on the couplers but the two bolts in the top center of the bar don't align at all with the radiator mount holes. A little disappointed and now JBR released his crash bar for $215 shipped, figures....

Yeah, I'm feeling the same way now. My Treadstone bar comes in on Friday. I would have never guessed Treadstone would drop a product with some many issues.

I kind of wished I would have done the treadstone full kit. $700 for everything and if you were to go get the jbr piping + bar+ a tr8 core it would be anywhere from $825-$860

Hopeing there is a group buy that brings it down in pricing

I don't think there will be a group buy, as I don't think people would be patient enough to wait for enough orders to come in. My guess is that most people will buy direct from JBR the second he puts up the links. However, Black Friday may be a good option for those that want to save a buck and don't mind waiting.

How can you say that with all the issues that people are having with the treadstone kit? I'll pay the extra $100 or so for something that works, AND has a tow plate bung. Oh yeah, and Jamie actually works with his customers when there are problems... Seems like treadstone is hiding under a rock when it comes to fielding customer issues.

just saying.

Here's a post I made in the discussion thread for the kit.

I point out some issues I found with mine before I put it on, I hope it helps anyone that has not installed their kit yet. Its not a bad kit at all but be prepared to take a few things into your own hands.

Okay, I just got off the phone with Tony at Treadstone.

Regarding the meth bung:
The meth bung was tapped incorrectly. Any future kits shipped will be tapped correctly. For those that already have the piping, you have 3 options depending upon which one works best for you.
  1. Ship the pipe back to Treadstone and they will properly tap it and send it back. Treadstone pays for shipping both ways.
  2. Treadstone will send you a 1/8-NPT tap so that you can fix it yourself without having to send in the pipe.
  3. If you can't wait for the shipping time for either of the above options, you can use your own 1/8-NPT tap to solve the problem.

Regarding the crash bar:
Treadstone test fit the crash bar before anything shipped out, but due to the reports, they had a car come back for another fitment and were still able to get the holes to line up. In the couple pictures I have seen, and in the ones I sent to Tony, the holes appeared to be drilled a little too far to the right. Tony said that if you loosen all of the bolts and slide the bar to the left, the holes at the top will line up. So basically, the solution is to put in all of the lower bolts without tightening them down, then slide the bar to the left, put in the top bolts, then tighten everything down. This should work for all crash bars that have shipped. Going forward, they are going to oval out the top holes so that this won't be necessary going forward.

Regarding the intercooler hanging brackets:
If this is an issue, try flipping the brackets. They can go on two different ways. The correct way is such that the holes that the TR8 mounts to are closest to the radiator. However, in order to use it this way, you need to ensure that the intercooler stays vertical during installation. If it gets pulled out at the bottom, the top will push back into the cylindrical filter in front of the radiator. Alternatively, if you just need to pull it out a tad, you can also oval out the holes on the bracket.

What if the supplied bung plug was ruined on the initial install?

I can get Treadstone to send you a new bung if yours is ruined. I would think the bung would strip before anything happened to the plug, though. Just let me know.

It looked like robocop tried to have sex with mine by the time I got that plug out. I bored the bung out and tapped it with a 7/16ths tap and then used a little RTV copper sealant on a 7/16ths bolt.

This probably doesn't help if you actually want to use the bung for meth later on down the road, but it'll give you a reason to get a methanol plate! HUZZAH!

I think your worries aren't warranted... The issue was with the Treadstone piping NOT the cores.

If you apply the BLACKFRIDAY code to the TR8 you'll get within a few bucks of the group buy price.

We don't stock them. We'll just have it shipped from Treadstone. Last time I checked, they had them.

Unfortunately not, but the Black Friday price is close. I think it's $10 more.

Installed my tr8 core with the cxracing piping I already had. @RPM; those brackets worked wonders. The core fits perfectly center and the bumper slid right on with no problems! BATs lowered to 20F above ambient while cruising from 40F above ambient with the cxracing core.

Thank you for the quick shipping and setting me up correctly!

Oh, I got my bung and tap in the other day and finally got around to replacing the original one that got stuck in there. After taking it out, there were barely 2 threads in and I completely chewed through the outside trying to get it out. Softest metal ever. After running the tap through there weren't any issues.

If I wanted to complain about something I forgot to before... Why did they put a standard sized plug on the kit when EVERYTHING else on the car is metric?

1/8" NPT is what all the meth kits use, so it had less to do with the car and more to do with its intended application.

To further elaborate; the reason for using NPT as the standard, is that the tapered nature of the threads provides a fluid tight seal.

Good for things like plumbing and keeping your intercooler piping free of leaks

@kidlifecrisis was one of the guys who had a JBR piping kit and crash bar reserved for him, but he hasn't responded to any of my PMs over the past few weeks, so if I don't hear anything from him by morning, his kit will be up for grabs.

Yes, it's reserved at Black Friday pricing, regardless of who gets it.

I talked to Treadstone (Tony, and Jason, the owner) regarding the hot-pipe coupler issue and they have ordered a batch of 20-degree couplers that they will ship to anyone who has ordered a kit and requests one.

They are having them custom-made, since 20-degree couplers aren't easy to come by, so it will probably be somewhere between 3-5 weeks before they have them in hand to ship out.

If you want one, shoot me a PM with your order number and I'll put you on the list.
