Sounds like your car needs some breather mods (or maf cal driver mod, lol), or you're at a higher elevation. There's another breakpoint at 100g/s that you want to check out so go into boost a bit like he said.

You should try to stay out of boost, especially up to 75g/s or so, but go into boost a bit if you must to break 100 g/s. You should be able to do it without boost. It's like you gradually increase the rate of acceleration up top, and it can be done staying out of boost. Once you get it, it's super easy. It's just kind of a wierd way of driving until you get the hang of it. GL

Is it possible for the MAF volts seen in a data log to not correspond with those in ATR?

Volts should go from 0-5v. If you're out of that range, you maf is fucked up. You won't see 5v either.

oh i thought you had to stay out of OL the whole time, my MAF cal log hits a constant -.16 LTFT before hitting 100g/s so i figured it was a bad log cause i hit OL.

I stay out of boost the whole time. I can feather that bitch up to 160g/s, lol. You hit OL dependent on your CL Max Calc Load table C. Once load is higher than those values, your trims will zero. I have mine set to 1.1 across the board (excpet for the first lower values, I leave those alone). That way I don't get any afrs drifting at dip in, or any bs trim action when I go wot. I wouldn't anyway anymore bc of BT and higher loads.

Plan to calibrate MAF next week or so when I have > 50 miles. I have been reading this thread for the last couple of hours. Just want to be sure that if STFT = 0 in DL then DL is no good to do MAF calibration. Is this correct? I plan to log STFT just to be sure. Thanks.

very possible. happens almost always.

what i do is just use the closest maf voltage in ATR.

In other words, just as an example...if i want to make a correction for airflow at a 4.29 Volts, i'll just make that correction in the cell corresponding to 4.30 Volts.

Wow, I am going to be so fucked when I go to try and do any self tuning when the time comes. I just read every post on this entire thread and with the exception of "the blessed dummy-down explanation post #49), I just kept getting more and more lost. I sure hope when I get my first batch of go-fast bits ie: internals, sri, & tip- that there's someone in L.A. who is willing to sit down with this (noob, brownie, dumbshit - call me what you will) to help me take my ride out with my AP, take some logs, and explain this shit in real life. I've studied quantum mechanics and it wasn't this complicated. I sure hope my OTS Stage 1 flash on stock parts doesn't cause my engine to go boom till then. That's why I installed my sub. Argh!

For sure. You bring your laptop, ap, and some beer. I will provide the wooden ruler or some reasonable facsimile.

Are you sure you still want to come to NJ? We go hard here.....be warned.

I too once was a naive ayshun with a stock pu. Then I met these fuckers. My wife hates me now Tuesday nights. My neighbors hate my car for the uber cool cold start. My garage is a fucking mess. My warranty went out the window. My life has not been the same since April. I should have bought a Mazda2.

Is it normal for the MAF grams/sec to jump around a little bit? I have the issue where randomly my data log show eg. 200 Grams/sec and then the next cell is 195 and then the next cell is 210. Like I lost some airflow even though I'm WOT. It seems 98% linear but every now and again I get weird dips?!

this deffinitely is not normal. Sometimes you can see a very slight dip near redline when you start maxing out your g/s on the K04. But nothing drastic. You sometimes might see for example 260...259....260....

but what your seeing deffinitely is not normal. You should always see your maf g/s increasing without any dips.

really ?

very strange in IMO. I've always seen my maf g/s increase at WOT all the way to redline. Never had a dip like that.

I took 15 logs between two series of runs and averaged out all the breakpoints, kind of like what you did, and I got my LTFT's down to .8% and -1.6% on the first shot! They were originally 2.45% and -5.45%. The car feels much more consistent and evened-out in power delivery. I'll break this map in and do one more MAF cal. Hopefully it goes over well, then I'll get started on WOT cal. Thanks for this still-useful info!

I have been through Alibor's guide and the Youtube Maf cal video. I am now dumbfounded, unfortunately. I have trouble getting over 75 g/s with a MSCAI2 and a 3.25 TMIC. The logs, I am attaching are a MAF CAL log (Datalog 2) and a WOT log (Datalog 7). In the MAF cal, the MAF g/s jumps around a lot, as is the MAF volts and I know that is not normal. I am hitting my head against the wall on this one, as I just got done pulling the fuel pump and tightening all hoses when I was done putting it all back together. Might I ask for assistance, please.
