Nope and I'd love to see this feature. I'd like to be able to set a 1-d table with ECT (engine coolant temperature) referencing "minimum fan duty." Or something like that. That way if the a/c needed more fan it would always override what was in this table.

Now that I think about it, ECT is kinda useless because you can have tremendous heat soak but 195*F ects. So maybe another table that also allows you to specify fan duty based on IATs as well.

I noticed that a lot of people are getting a huge amount of part throttle knock from the new v231 maps. Could this be why (pics)? The max ignition tables on v321 are a lot higher than v210 maps. The knock vs no knock tables are the same on v210 and v231 maps which makes me wonder why Cobb would just increase the max tables. I was always under the impression that the max ign tables were a table that our cars never used but were there just to define an upper limit. I'm pretty sure that our cars use these tables on a continoius bases and are what's causing all the p/t knock. These max tables are the same as the max tables for Cobbs spicy tune. Could these tables have been applied to the v231 maps in error like the reversal of the knock/ no knock fuel tables in the world maps? David@COBB

I had knock counts of >3 at between .50 and 1.0 load and between 2200-3000 rpm's. I see other people have knock of up to 6 at those same rpm's. Liittle to much considering some MS6's and a few 3's have puked their interals in parking lots at low loads. No?

The Max tables were raised because people who were modifying OTS maps started running into the ceiling of IGN Max A/B. This only raises the allowances of timing, but it will always attempt to target your 4 main tables and then cap with A/B. These shouldn't have an affect on the part throttle knock you are referring to.

Just curious, I haven't done any back to back comparisons, but I see a lot of people talking about the PT KR with these new maps. Was it simply a matter of lowering the knock active load value to where teh sensor is now active in the cruise ranges?

So your sure our cars just use Max A&B as a cap and don't target them? That was my original thoughs about the max tables. OK. Your the guru.

Just wondering why with no hardware changes and just a flash to a v231 causes all the pt knock?


BigjohnB20 Knock table min active A&B are the same on v210 and v231.

Has anyone switched back and had pt kr disappear?
Then gone back to 231 and had it reappear?
I think it's all coincidental with the temp change.

In all fairness I was never aware of part throttle knock before running a v231 map. I've been running a spicy tune map on the ragged edge with 3 gal of E85. Spicy tune maps have the min active knock tables shut off below 1.0 load. Early on when I first had my car I ran a tweaked v210 map and I don't remember knock counts that high at part throttle. I've always subscribed to less than 1 kr doesn't matter and more than 2 gets my attention and needs a second look as to why. I always try for kr less the .4 because the ecu doesn't pull timing or richen afr's.

Stuttering continued....

Earlier I suggested lowering the max load a-e tables to get rid of the "delay" and "surge" into open loop at low rpms. That is still a winner.

But last night I got a different kind of stutter while WOT logging in 4th gear. Felt more like a machine gun misfire. Bad enough for me to lift and go home.

Cobb is now setting the VVT to 8* at 5,000rpms. The old v210 maps commanded 0* here. I thought I'd compromise last night and set this to 5* and got this "machine gun" stuttering, right near 5k. I was logging and the log looks totally fine, it wasn't knock. I'm running reasonable spark adv at the moment.

That being said, I did have the boost turned up to 19psi and just turned 20k miles on stock plugs. I'm wondering if the stutter is just from a combination of worn plugs, colder weather, and maybe a bad tank of gas; or could the VVT setting make the car do this? Regardless I'm going back to 18psi and getting some colder plugs. Until I get a downpipe I'm not going back to 19psi I don't think.

I ran a spicy map for six months which has vvt set at 8* at 5000k. Never had a studder with that map. Was pushing 22psi, 12.0 afr and 18* timing on 93 with that map.

Might be the gas. I've always used Shell because it seemed to be the best. I think it's piss now maybe due to Ethanol prices going through the roof. I switched to Valero which isn't a big name but they are the fifth biggest refiner in the country. My cars runs really smooth with their fuel now.

Compare maf gs with the 5 degrees vvt vs your 0 previous...if it increased leave it...if not it is suspect.

Holy hell, your timing is almost as high as mine on 3gal e85. And running more boost...wow.

check the gap on your plugs as well

18* on 93? Whats your boost at redline? 12 psi? Thats a hell of a lot on 93. Almost everyone here needs e85 or meth achieve that without KR

good point. I had done a little testing on that. leaving vvt at 0 by 5k rpm yeilded me the most airflow. Even increasing it just 5* yielded me a loss of significant airflow.

Knock sensor is active till 6800. 22psi was only held for a little, always tapered to 17.5 at redline. Here's the only datalog I have from when I was running that map. In July summer temps did me in and I had to switch over to E85 to maintain these numbers.

there is a thread on the second page of this ECU forum and in the begining on a race gas tune i believe he was running like 12 degrees spark advance at 3500 rpms. I believe he braught it back though later in the thread
