Weird AFI Dip in Recent Log

1 Attachment(s)
I'm reviewing my logs and found something odd in the second one I took. A dip in the AFR. Currently targeting 11.4 about to move to 11.8 (or hoping too). Everything looks good until the area I grayed. It just dips to 9.76 and holds for about a sec. and a half. No knock reading. Any idea's, and yes my LTFT are 0. Thanks for the look.

EDIT: AFR not AFI, I'm Having one of those days = FAIL.

your spark advance also takes a hit right at that moment, not sure exactly what that means, or if one causes the other. that's the only thing i see out of place.

stock plugs?

No, one step colder. After re looking at it, I notice that the TP drops as well while the APP stays about the same or at least even.... Hrmmm, could it be the steering wheel sensor?

fywdyl 03-23-2012 12:05 PM

Could be steering angle sensor. I'm assuming your DSC was turned off for the run?

This only happened for one of the runs right?

I actually usually leave the dsc on, no wheel spinage occurs usually, so how would that effect it. And correct sir only one log shows this result.

Disconnect SWAS. Problem solved. Simply turning off DSC will not help.

phate 03-23-2012 02:40 PM

It could be DSC. I would try that first. Hitting something as small as a crack in the road can be interpreted as wheel spin and the ecu kicks in and goes crazy.

If that doesn't help, go with the SWAS, as stated above.

You also may have a spark blowout issue - your rpm's go backwards at a number of points in the log.

Whenever you post up a log, can you post the actual log rather than a picture?

looks like SWAS to me, but check the out what Phate said, he's a god among men.

Thank you guys for looking in, I went a head with my 11.8 targeting (I know I should have waited....) , but will do some logs with out the DSC and will brush up on the SWAS mod.

Big Thanks to @phate for noticing the RPM it so minute and very inconsistent. From doing a few quick searches I've found that plugs are most likely gaped wrong.

They're the one step colder Auto Lites XP5263. The were gaped at like .45 out of the box and I just gaped it to what the stock plugs were... which from my measurement was .32.... :grumpy: FMIC is seeming more appealing everyday.

Don't know if the autolites need to be gapped the same as the densos, but most gap them at .26 to .28

I gaped the plugs to .26 to .27, and am still seeing the reverse RPM. Can this only be the cause of SP Blow-out? Slightly, baffled at this point.

Here's a new LOG with the new gaping and DSC off; thoughts, ideas, concerns is appreciated.

Thanks again....
