Default Weird AFR's

It had been a while since i had done a first gear pull so I did a 10 mph roll and stood on the pedal. AFR's went to 8.8's and bucked real hard, kind of freaked out I decided to do another real quick. The second time it didn't buck at all but still saw 8's. After that I tried a second gear pull and I had 11.4's and 11.7's. I don't understand so I'v done a log. For the log I did a first gear pull, it bucks and I let off until the RPM's come back down some then threw it into second and hit the gas so you can see the nice AFR's. I'm not sure what would be causing this.

Your LTFTs are in the 10s, thats kinda bad. Need a MAF calibration if possible.

Hold the traction control button for 10 seconds and give it another shot after the car is fully warmed up.

Do you have any mods?

Just FYI. This seems to be a topic that we don't all agree on, but unless you physically disable SWAS, it is still engaged. Holding the button only locks traction control off. (In my experience)

It just seems weird that it would just now start happening. I also just tried different tunes and it still does it. I had a extremely small vacuum leak, so i fixed that...still does it. I also notice that i have never reached peak boost of 18.5 pounds. I have before but only because i modified the waste-gate tables to do so(just made boost come on sooner) I haven't done a maf cal yet because I'm afraid ill fuck it up(its what i do best) but i guess ill just have to man up and try and understand this.

Here you go. http://www.mazdaspeedforums.org/foru...nigans-153649/

cliff notes; hold the dsc button for approximately 7 seconds after you crank the car (after releasing I usually press it again to make sure it stays on instead of cutting off). try another first gear pull.

Learning to calibrate the maf is the first thing anyone who wishes to tune should learn. Its some simple math and common sense, a few revisions and its good. At first it took me many revisions now a days i can do it in 2 maybe 3. And there's some tricks in excel that pretty much do it for you.

If it seems like to much, or think you might fuck it up as you posted just get an e-tune from one or the tuners on here. It's money well spent.

Its definitely worth the money. I've been studying tuning for almost 3 yrs now and i've got it down and made huge improvements. With a good tuner, they'll have you running real good in a much, much shorter amount of time. That itself is worth the money.

Yea it's something im ready to do now. I did just now go ahead and try the closed loop maf cal because imo it looked the easiest. So far so good, just made my second correction.
