What type of injection did the 09's have? Direct injection is new and just wondering when Mazda started using it.

Dude sorry but that is proabably the dumbest noob comment I've heard ever in the history of forums. The Mazdaspeed3 has always been a DISI motor (Direct Injection Spark Ignition)

Just curious. I work for Nissan/Infiniti and we JUST NOW started using direct injection on the new M's. (luxury car)

So what if you made an unfortunate first question that happened to highlight your current lack of knowledge? There is a easy fix for that: just read/serach.

I'm a little confused. There seems to be some discrepancy with what is being said here. I'm not calling anyone a liar, so please don't take it that way but there seems to be some conflicting "facts."

First we have 18psi saying "I talked to john at PTP who has built several 10 motors and said internals and rods were noticeably diff on the 2010"

Then we have Teethkikr saying "I looked it up and the part numbers are identical for 09 and 10 so I doubt they are at all different.. The rod bearing set is also the same number"

And of course there is what Pika heard from a Mazda Rep.

Like I said, not calling anyone a liar, I have zero reason to believe that any of these three guys would make this up, but anyone care to to explain how all three statements could be true? Is it possible for a manufacturer to change a part and carry over the previous part number?

btw, turbotits is the greatest insult/compliment I have ever heard. Made me laugh.

The only way the rods are the same part number is if they no longer have the older, lamer rods so they both use the new rods as the replacements. So basically they snuck in the new rods. I can't confirm or deny this but logically if we kept the same conclusion from what i said and what ptp said then that would be the conclusion.
