Default Mostly good compression but shit leakdown results

Ive owned my 2010 ms3 for a little over a month now only reason i decided to get into the
comp is to decide if its worth dropping money into imo it runs/pulls pretty well for a higher
mileage vehicle

I got it from a kid in a trade who claimed he only owned it for a few months he claimed it
came with a stage 2 tune but no AP and said he didnt get one when he purchased it so
pretty sure he was bsing or somebody has a new paperweight, 126k with HKS intake and some brand catback system

a couple weeks ago cel came on random/multi misfire (p0300) and cyl 3 misfire (p0303) pulled the plugs and they looked like shit esp #3 so ordered a set of itv22s stage colder figured what the hell replaced them all was well then about a week later got the p0300 cel again read on here about stretching the coil spring did that and im over 250 miles after that still no cel but #3 plug looks like shit again looks to have oil at the base of the threads....valve cover gasket job im assuming?

performed the comp test yesterday with a semi warm engine pulled what not fuses to make
sure it wouldn't start and held WOT and liked the results until #3 came around

Cyl 1-195
3-165 (175 wet)

went to harbor freight and bought there leak down tester to look into #3 started with cyl 1
to see a test on what i thought to be a strong pretty sure i did it correctly but just
in case ill go through my procedure leme know if im mistaken....started on cyl1 threaded the
tester hose in and turned crank by hand until i felt pressure behind the hose unscrewed
and ran the good ole extension in there then continued until top of the stroke then
hooked the compressor up to the tester and dialed the regulator in so the leak down gauge
was at 0 which read about 15psi on the other gauge then shot it into the cylinder....


cyl 1-70% could hear air from oil fill and possibly cyl 2
2-70% air herd from oil fill and cyl 1/3
3-67% air herd from cyl 2 and oil fill
4-65% air herd from cyl 3/4 and oil fill

fairly positive I was on the compression stroke and TDC for all the tests didnt hear any leaking from TMIC piping at IM or from the the oil fill cap a good source to diagnose leakdown past rings or should i of been listening from somewhere else and i do have means to datalog if that would help figure what the hell is going on.....

The HF leakdown testers are known for giving wildly bad results. You may want to check with another one.

Leakdown testers I've used have required 100psi. I know the HF manual says you don't have to, but you might just try that and see what happens.
